IDF: IDF troops apprehended three suspects who crossed the Blue Line from Lebanon into Israeli territory

A short while ago, IDF troops spotted three suspects who crossed the Blue Line from Lebanon into Israeli territory adjacent to the community of Yiftah.
The troops apprehended the suspects and they are being questioned at the scene.

IDF: *Early Voting in the IDF - 335 Military Polling Stations Were Deployed at Various Bases*

Approximately 335 military polling stations were opened today at a number of IDF bases throughout the country in advance of the 24th general elections.
The early voting is carried out at the request of the Central Election Commission and in order to ease the counting of votes placed outside of centralized voting stations that are expected to occur this year.

Soldiers who choose to vote in the early elections were able to exercise their right between 08:00 in the morning and 18:00 in the evening.
Soldiers who vote on the official election day will be able to exercise the right to vote at one of the 550 military polling stations to be opened; or at civilian polling stations according to their area of residence.

IDF: *IDF troops thwarted stabbing attack during operational activity in the Jordan Valley*

Overnight, IDF troops apprehended a suspect in Tubas, northeast of Nablus. During the apprehension, an assailant attempted to stab one of the soldiers operating in the area. The soldier pushed the assailant away from him, and a commander that was in the area shot the assailant and neutralized him. During the stabbing attempt, the soldier was lightly wounded in his hand and was treated at the scene.

IDF: Security forces apprehended a terrorist suspected of attempting a stabbing attack at the Yitzhar Junction

Last Wednesday, a report was received from an Israeli civilian regarding a terrorist who attempted to stab him at the Yitzhar Junction, South of Nablus. The civilian was not injured and the terrorist fled the area.

Over the last days, a manhunt was conducted in order to locate the terrorist, who was apprehended by IDF troops a short while ago, adjacent to the village of Salim, East of Nablus.

IDF: IDF troops are searching for an assailant suspected of attempting a stabbing attack at Yitzhar Junction

A short while ago, a report was received from an Israeli civilian regarding an assailant who attempted to stab him at the Yitzhar Junction, South of Nablus. The civilian was not injured. The suspect escaped the scene and IDF troops are searching the area in order to locate him. The incident is being looked into.

IDF: Earlier today, US Navy Sixth Fleet vessel joined an IDF vessel to conduct joint maritime security patrol in the Mediterranean Sea.
The ships proximity in the Mediterranean during the patrol enabled a cross deck exchange of personnel in favor of mutual tour and learning, while keeping within the guidelines for COVID-19.
The joint patrol is another example of the strategic cooperation between the IDF and the US forces, and it reflects the joint efforts to maintain the security in the region.

IDF: Staff Sergeant Yonatan Granot, the combat soldier who was wounded by another soldier's gunfire, has passed away

Today (Friday), IDF Staff Sgt. Yonatan Granot passed away after being seriously injured on Tuesday, as a result of another soldier's gunfire at a military base in the Jordan Valley area.

Staff Sgt. Yonatan Granot, 21, from Kibbutz Einat, served as a combat soldier in the "Bazelet" Battalion of the Nachal Brigade.

The Military Police will continue investigating the circumstances of the incident, at the end of which the findings will be transferred to the General Advocate Corps.

The IDF expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family and will continue to support them.

IDF: Cleared for publication: Last month, IDF troops and the ISA apprehended a number of suspects following an attempted attack adjacent to the village of Ya'bad, West of Jenin

Following joint IDF, ISA and Israeli Border Police operational and intelligence efforts, a militant squad suspected of carrying out an attempted car-ramming and shooting attack against IDF troops were apprehended days after the attempted attack. The attempted attack occurred on January 9th, 2021, adjacent to the village of Ya'bad, West of Jenin.

Following ISA intelligence efforts and a large-scale operational effort conducted by the "Duvdevan" Unit, the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit and special forces in the Israeli Border Police, the squad was apprehended in the village of Qabatia, North of Nablus, a number of days after the attempted attack.

The investigation of the attempted attack revealed that the two assailants who were present in the vehicle had intended to shoot at IDF troops operating in the area, using a loaded "Carlo" submachine gun. The two assailants had arrived to the area with a loaded "Carlo" submachine gun, and had clearly intended to carry out an attack. During the attempted attack, the assailant's weapon fell from the vehicle and no shots were fired towards the troops. As the assailants fled the scene, the driver accelerated and hit one of the soldiers. The assailants' vehicle was located in the area by IDF troops a few hours after the attempted attack.

The detention of the squad members was extended at the request of the military prosecution until February 28, 2021, for the purpose of filing an indictment.

Joint IDF and Israel Nature and Parks Authority announcement:

The IDF will assist the Israel Nature and Parks Authority in the effort to clean Israel's beaches

The Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Aviv Kohavi, and the CEO of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, Shaul Goldstein, have decided that thousands of IDF soldiers will assist the Israel Nature and Parks Authority employees and volunteers in: mapping the areas which were affected by the tar contamination, cleaning the beaches, and disposing the garbage to a designated area.

The details regarding the personnel which will be assigned to the task will be determined in the following hours by the Operations Directorate.

The CEO of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority congratulated the Chief of the General Staff on the enterprise, which is one of many joint enterprises between the IDF and the Israel Nature and Parks Authority.

IDF: In accordance with the Israeli Government directive: The IDF returned two shepherds to Syrian territory.

A short while ago, IDF troops returned two shepherds to Red Cross representatives through the Quneitra Crossing, in accordance with an Israeli Government directive.

Over the past few weeks, the shepherds were apprehended by IDF troops East of the security fence in the Golan Heights area, after they crossed the Alpha Line from Syria into Israeli territory. The suspects were apprehended as part of the ongoing effort to protect Israeli sovereignty along the Alpha Line.

IDF: Surprise Exercise: Israeli Air Force exercise "Vered Hagalil", focused on improving the IAF's readiness for combat in the northern arena, began

Yesterday (Sunday), the "Vered Hagalil" surprise exercise began in the Israeli Air Force. The surprise exercise, operated under the directive of the Commanding Officer of the Israeli Air Force, Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin, is designed to improve Air Force readiness for combat in the Northern arena. During the exercise, elevated level of IDF aircrafts, jets and helicopter traffic will be felt across the country, and a number of explosions may be heard in northern Israel. The exercise is expected to end on Wednesday.


The "Vered Hagalil" exercise simulates combat scenarios in the Northern front, and will test all components in the IAF's core missions, including maintaining aerial superiority, protecting the country's skies, as well as attacking and gathering intelligence. The exercise will examine the planning, control and execution processes of these missions, as well as end-to-end logistics and technological capabilities, with an emphasis on maintaining aerial freedom of action and full functional continuity.
