IDF: IDF Encourages the Residents of Eastern Rafah To Advance Towards Expanded Humanitarian Area
There has been a surge of humanitarian aid going into Gaza. The IDF has expanded the humanitarian area in Al- Mawasi to accommodate the increased levels of aid flowing into Gaza. This expanded humanitarian area includes field hospitals, tents and increased amounts of food, water, medication and additional supplies.
In accordance with the approval of the government, an ongoing situation assessment will guide the gradual movement of civilians in the specified areas, to the humanitarian area.
Calls to temporarily move to the humanitarian area will be conveyed through posters, SMS messages, phone calls and media broadcasts in arabic.
The IDF will continue pursuing Hamas everywhere in Gaza until all the hostages that they’re holding in captivity are back home.

Attached are the full remarks of LTG Halevi: "We are not returning to how things were beforehand. This means to push further, to reinforce this and to bring the residents back here, to Netu'a, and along the entire border line, to a different situation that is much more secure. Our role as those in uniform is to prepare the first option, to be very well prepared for combat. And no matter what, the coming year will include a lot of work. Listen, I have always believed in the reservist array. I say, seeing the seriousness here on the ground, is very impressive, there is someone to rely on. Keep going, be strong. Also, a very great effort, say this also to all the soldiers, it's good to take good care of the reservists, students, employees, self-employed. The State (of Israel) will invest resources here, we are working very hard on this. I know, people come first of all for the mission and the sense of duty, it is very noticeable and that's the most important. And we will ensure that the State (of Israel) properly gives back, because people are really making a sacrifice here that is worthy of appreciation. Good to see you."

IDF: Following the reports of two women that were shot in the area of the Latin Church in Shejaya, the IDF has finished conducting an initial review of the incident. The review found that on December 17th, in the early afternoon, Hamas terrorists launched a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) at IDF troops from the vicinity of the church. The troops then identified three people in the vicinity, operating as spotters for Hamas by guiding their attacks in the direction of the IDF troops. In response, our troops fired towards the spotters and hits were identified.
While this incident occurred in the area where the two women were reportedly killed, the reports received do not match the conclusion of our initial review which found that the IDF troops were targeting spotters in enemy lookouts. We are continuing our examination of the incident.
The IDF takes claims of strikes on sensitive sites very seriously, especially churches that are the holy sites for the Christian faith. The IDF directs its operations against the Hamas terrorist organization and not against civilians, regardless of their religious affiliation. The IDF takes many measures to mitigate harm to civilians in the Gaza Strip. These efforts stand in contrast to Hamas that does everything in its power to endanger civilians and exploits them, as well as religious sites, as human shields for their terrorist activities.
IDF: ’Shaldag' Unit Operate in Hamas Terror Tunnels in Gaza City, 1500 tunnel shafts and underground passages uncovered since the beginning of the war
After locating hundreds of tunnels and destroying many of them using various techniques, the 'Shaldag' Special Forces Unit are conducting operational activities within the Hamas terrorist organization subterranean tunnel network.
Led by the Southern Command, the combat in underground tunnels is a complex form of warfare, involving the discovery of combat facilities and terrorist command centers.
Underground warfare is a combat strategy used by the Hamas terrorist organization. Since the beginning of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip, IDF troops have identified about 1,500 tunnel shafts and underground passages belonging to Hamas. Most of these subterranean structures have been found beneath schools, hospitals, mosques, UN facilities and civilian institutions. Hamas uses the civilian population as a human shield, a fact that becomes evident in the locations of these underground facilities in the Gaza Strip.

IDF: The IDF and ISA struck a Hamas command and control center located in an UNRWA complex in central Gaza which served as a staging ground for multiple attacks against IDF troops and humanitarian efforts
Following precise IDF and ISA intelligence, IAF fighter jets struck a Hamas command and control center in the central Gaza Strip which served as central terrorist infrastructure. The strike was carefully planned and carried out using precise munition in order to minimize harm to uninvolved civilians.
The command and control center was used as a staging ground for multiple attacks on IDF troops located in Gaza's central corridor in recent weeks. Furthermore, the forward operations base was used to carry out attacks on humanitarian efforts, which aims to increase the distribution of humanitarian aid to Gazan civilians.
In addition, Hamas oversaw the supply of weapons to dozens of Hamas terrorists from inside the command and control center, including those located and operating inside underground terror tunnels.
Hamas intentionally positioned the command and control position within the vicinity of an active UNRWA location, jeopardizing the Gazan civilians taking refuge there.
The Hamas terrorist organization systematically exploits the civilian population and institutions as human shields for their terrorist activities against the State of Israel.
As a result of the strike, the Hamas’ command and control center located in the UNRWA complex is no longer operational.
IDF: Earlier today (Sunday), approximately 10 projectiles were fired from the area adjacent to the Rafah Crossing toward the area of Kerem Shalom. Shortly after, IAF fighter jets struck the launcher from which the projectiles were fired. In addition, IAF fighter jets struck a military structure located in the area of the launcher.
The launches carried out by Hamas adjacent to the Rafah Crossing, located approximately 350 meters from civilian shelters, are a clear example of the terrorist organization's systematic exploitation of humanitarian facilities and spaces, and their continued use of the Gazan civilian population as human shields.
