Speaking test, Part 2 (Cue Card) question
Talk about a city/town you would recommend as a good place to live or visit (it can't be your hometown). You should say
- what it is
- where it is located
- how you know about it
- and explain why you would recommend it as a good place to live or visit.
Model Answer
When I think of a good city to live, I think Islamabad; it has won my heart with its beauty and its kind-hearted people. Islamabad is located in the heart of Pakistan, and it is the capital city of Pakistan. I grew up in South Africa, and the only knowledge I had about Pakistan and Islamabad was the negative image created by the media. Many years later, I travelled to the city with my family and found that this place was nothing like what I had seen on TV.
Each street is lined with trees, and there are parks and greenery everywhere. Sometimes we just drive around the city and marvel at all the beautiful trees and flowers. Apart from this, the city is a first-world city and you can find basically everything you would in any western country. There are fast food outlets like McDonald's, large shopping malls and big-name international brands that operate here.
But the thing that amazes me the most about this place is that it is super clean, and this is mostly because the residents take pride in their city and homes, and so they take care of their surroundings.
Another feature is that it is perfect for tourists, it has everything a modern city can have, plus it's very green and the cost of living is highly affordable. You could live like a king here even earning the minimum wage of most first-world countries.

Speaking test, Part 1 (Interview) questions
1. Do you work or study?
I currently work as a real estate agent in my home town.
2. What kind of work do you do?
I help potential clients make the right decisions when buying a new home. I also help homeowners to put their houses on the market. The job involves a lot of negotiating and communication between the different parties involved. It’s much harder than most people think it is!
3. Did you always want to be in this profession?
No, not at all. When I was younger, I dreamt of being a doctor but in college, I discovered that I did not have the stomach for dissections. In fact, the only reason I got into this field was to help out with our household expenses when my husband was in-between jobs. It was supposed to be a temporary solution, but I ended up enjoying it so much that I decided to stick with it for the long run.
4. Are you a morning person? Why or why not?
I am not good company at all in the mornings. Everyone who knows me, knows that I am not in a good mood until I get my morning cup of coffee. If I could, I would stay up late and sleep till noon. For some reason, in the morning I just can't think straight.
5. How often do you read?
These days I barely find the time to read, and I wish that was different. When I was younger, I always had my nose buried in a book, and I could easily finish a whole book in a day. I cannot believe that I am the same person as now I barely finish a page or two before falling asleep or getting distracted by something on my phone or the TV.
6. Do you love reading books?
I do enjoy a good book and as I mentioned before I used to be quite the bookworm. I just do not have the attention span to focus on this hobby anymore.
7. How often do you buy books?
I am afraid I buy them too frequently. I have a pile of unread new books and for some reason, I keep buying more. It’s become a bit of an unhealthy habit and my poor wallet is the one to suffer.
