‘One important question I have is that his so-called calculated murder of Aliona was, in his head, justified - he was committing it for the greater good. But how does he now justify the murder of Lizavetta? This I believe shows that his motif behind the murder is rooted in just irrational, or selfish if you will, reasons rather than for a higher purpose’
Here’s what chatGPT said:
Exactly! The murder of Lizaveta completely shatters Raskolnikov’s justification for killing Alyona. His original idea was that he was eliminating a “useless, harmful” person for the sake of society, but Lizaveta was innocent, kind, and powerless. Her murder was not part of his so-called “higher purpose”—it was an impulsive, self-preserving act.
The Big Takeaway
Lizaveta’s murder is the clearest evidence that Raskolnikov’s crime was never about a higher purpose. He may have convinced himself otherwise, but his actions reveal the truth—he acted out of desperation, self-loathing, and arrogance, not reason or justice.
Dostoevsky, in a way, traps Raskolnikov in his own logic—if he really believes in his theory, then he must find a way to justify Lizaveta’s death. But he can’t. And that’s the first step toward his psychological unraveling.

Number one thing that shows you are a good writer is PRECISION and CONCISENESS.
A good writer explains an idea using fewer words.
Here’s what some of my students wrote in their essays with suggestions to make sentences even clearer:
1️⃣⏺Some people say working days in a weekend should not be shortened, and they say the reason is potential dip in the profit
More concise way to put it:
Some argue that reducing weekend workdays may cut profits.
2️⃣⏺Such chance to get a good relax could probably be the reason for job satisfaction among staff
More concise way to put it:
The chance to relax may boost job satisfaction.
3️⃣⏺Another significant aspect of reduced working hours is that it can improve how productively the work is done
More concise way to put it:
Another key benefit of shorter working weeks is increased productivity.
How can you practice this? I think there’s no better way than relying on the good old chatGPT. Write sentences and ask it to make it more concise and precise. You keep doing it until you start to produce better sentences.
You can join my morning IELTS standard group(offline):
Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday at 10:00
Level required to join these groups: upper-intermediate(IELTS 6+)
If you have a valid IELTS certificate, you can join the course without taking the placement tests.

Here we talked about the importance of IDEA DEVELOPMENT in TASK 2 Essays.
Today, I'll show you fun little exercise to practice it with ChatGPT.
Pick a random IELTS writing task 2 question. And brainstorm some main ideas.
For this post I chose the following essay. Do the advantages of space exploration outweigh the disadvantages?
MAIN IDEA 1: One of the downsides of space exploration is that it can be a waste of important resources.
After you have written the topic sentence, send the following prompt to ChatGPT:
I need to develop this idea for IELTS writing task 2. To develop the idea, there are some questions below. Answer some of these questions(not all of them necessarily). Dont make it overly complicated. Dont give full sentences. just promps using 3-4 words:
How?
Why?
What’s the result?
Can I give any examples?
Can I compare this to anything?
So what?
What do I mean this?
ChatGPT will produce something like this:
How?
Billions on rockets
Expensive technology
Time-consuming missions
Why?
Other urgent needs
Poverty and hunger
Healthcare, education funding
What’s the result?
Neglecting real issues
Public dissatisfaction
Inefficient spending
Can I give any examples?
NASA’s large budget
Poor countries investing
Costly Mars missions
You take these prompts, write your own sentences. It is much better than just copying from ChatGPT.
I have just finished the book… and honestly, I don’t know where to start. It’s one of those books where, after each dark event, you expect things to get better - but they don’t.
“You are my morning sun to my Yelda (longest night of the year),” Amir says to his wife Soraya. But in the context of the story, the morning sun never shines, and Yelda lasts forever. Everyone - the characters and the reader alike - suffers in darkness.
As if the reader weren’t suffering enough already (maybe a little more than enough), halfway through the book, the focus of the story shifts slightly, shedding light on the sufferings of Afghan children and squeezing the last drop of blood from our hearts.
Spoiler alert:
I hated the writer for one thing. I was hoping that Amir and Hassan would face each other. I hoped this would give a little closure. But they never could, and they never did.
The book left a strong, eerie emotional impact on me — so much so that it even haunted my dreams.
This is a 5/5 book. Highly recommended.

TASK 2 Idea development.
Extending your ideas in Task 2 is very important if you’re aiming for a higher score in TASK RESPONSE. But oftentimes, students find it difficult to develop their ideas or they end up repeating the same thing. How do you know if you have developed your ideas well enough?
I often ask the following questions after presenting a main idea:
How? Why? What do you mean by this? What is the result? So what? Can you give any examples? can you compare this to anything?
If you answer some of these questions, then most likely you have developed your ideas to score 7+ in TASK RESPONSE

This week alone 4-5 people texted me thanking for my writing videos. They scored 7,7.5 and even 8.0 in writing. I can’t post these on the channel because I can’t claim much credit for their achievements.

This is a much smarter way to use language models. I know for a fact that many students just copy the essay and claim that they wrote it themselves. While I understand that IELTS task 2 questions can be silly/difficult sometimes, I wouldn’t recommend just copying and pasting from language models.
Try such exercises as the one above for a more practical use.

Malika studied in my IELTS standard group for 3 months and completed the IELTS practice program as well. Her story has been very interesting. She took the test on February 22 and scored 6.5 with 5.5 in writing. Dissatisfied with this outcome, we appealed her writing score, which then improved to 6.5(a whole band increase). This improved her overall score to 7.0
