>ITER operations delayed to 2034, with energy-producing reactions expected 5 years later
>Dreamed up in 1980s, ITER collaboration came together in 2006. Construction began in 2010 with contracts spread across all member states. Operations were expected to start a decade later. The project relies on a doughnut-shaped reactor, called a tokamak, in which magnetic fields contain a plasma of hydrogen nuclei hot enough to fuse and release energy. Particle beams and microwaves heat plasma to 150 million degrees Celsius—10 times the temperature of the Sun’s core—while a few meters away the superconducting magnets must be cooled to –269°C, a few degrees above absolute zero.
>After 5 years, operators will fire up short fusion bursts of less than a minute with the more potent deuterium-tritium fuel, which will give ITER a shot at its stated goal of generating 10 times more power than it consumes.

"The direct effect of SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccination on human ovarian granulosa cells explains menstrual irregularities" - Hadas Bar-Joseph, Nature, 26JUN24
>Irregular periods are important well beyond fertility and the discomfort they impose; they are associated with the risk of cardiovascular morbidity, chronic diseases, and premature mortality. Pre-clinical examination of the vaccine polymeric envelope indicates its accumulation in the ovaries.
>InhibinB was upregulated, whereas AMH was downregulated.
>found a 2–3 folds change in the post-vaccination FSH/InhibinB protein level ratio, compared to their pre-vaccination values.
>This altered expression of InhibinB could significantly impact the HPO axis in vaccinated women and may ultimately influence the endometrium cyclicity, manifested clinically by the commonly reported changes in menstrual bleeding patterns.

"'The Wall' is a myth. The male wall isn’t" - Anon, Afru, 17JUN24
>Women practice self-care, men do not. The theory that women drop their standards and bed losers after 30 is stinky manosphere drivel.
>The male wall, on the other hand, is very real
>The average thirty-year-old male already has a receding hair line. His face has begun to bloat from the excessive alcohol usage and poor diet. A flat tire is already beginning to form around his mid-section. He has pre-mature wrinkles, sun damage, and uneven skin tone because he washes with Axe-3-In-1 Hair, Face, and Body Wash everyday and as never picked up a proper skincare product in his entire life.

Oil is essential to lubricate the rotating mechanism at the heart of our planet. We are facing this ecological disaster because we switched to electric vehicles.
This is why I pour cooking oil down my drain and used motor oil down river. Society might not like it, but it's necessary for the health of our planet's machinery.
"Toxic arsenic and lead commonly found in tampons: landmark study" - Reda Wigle, NY Post, 05JUL2024
>They found metals in all types of tampons, though concentrations varied by where the tampons were purchased (US vs. EU/UK), organic vs. nonorganic and generic vs. name-brand. Lead concentrations were higher in nonorganic tampons, while arsenic was greater in organic tampons.
>Tampons are a particularly worrisome source of chemical exposure because the skin of the vagina has a higher potential for absorption than skin elsewhere else on the body.
>As the study notes, “Vaginally absorbed chemicals do not undergo first-pass metabolism and detoxification via the liver and directly enter systemic circulation.”
>The US Food and Drug Administration classifies tampons as medical devices, but the agency has said it “does not clear or approve individual materials that are used in the fabrication of medical devices.”

Watch out for losers who call themselves "Pagan" but claim that Satan is involved in their pantheon somehow. Satan has nothing to do with the pre-Christian traditions of Europe. These people are subversives with an agenda (which is probably buttsex related because they're such rampaging homosexuals).

- Siobhán O'Grady, WaPo 16JUN2024
>Not all convicts qualify and those who do are required to join assault brigades, which engage in some of the most deadly fighting.
>KYIV — To fill a critical shortage of infantry on the front line, Ukraine has embraced one of Russia’s most cynical tactics: releasing convicted — even violent — felons who agree to fight in high-risk assault brigades.
>More than 2,750 men have been released from Ukrainian prisons since the parliament adopted a law in May authorizing certain convicts to enlist, including those jailed for dealing drugs, stealing phones and committing armed assaults and murders, among other serious crimes.

"Plutonium pit ‘panic’ threatens America’s nuclear ambitions" - Brad Dress, The Hill, 06MAR24
tl;dr: status of US nuclear production
• The US has no current nuclear production, but is looking to Build Back Better
Sites:
• Los Alamos "Technical Area-55" @ "Plutonium Facility-4": pursuing plutonium pit remanufacturing capability, scheduled to open in the 2030s, but facing forever delays and (((budget increases.))) Planning to melt down thousands of pits produced during cold war and remanufacture new working pits. They are hiring niggers and faggots to complete this post-apocalyptic scavenging.
• Rocky Flats Plant: Raided by EPA and FBI marauders in 1989. Closed during the last year of Bush Sr's presidency in 1992, no longer needed due to the fall of the Soviet Union
• Savannah River Site: At end of cold war, nuclear weapon material stopped at this site. New facility is scheduled to be built in mid-2030s, and will build mad-max scavenged Pu pits like Los Alamos TA-55.

"Russia Is Powering Up a Giant Laser to Test Its Nukes" - Wired, 18MAR23
>To check that atomic weapons work, scientists run simulations of explosions using high-energy lasers—and Russia is building the strongest one of all.
>So far Russia’s lack of such a laser hasn’t been a great disadvantage in ensuring its weapons function. That’s because Russia is committed to continuously remaking plutonium “pits,” the explosive cores found in many nukes, named after the hard centers of fruits like peaches. If you can readily replace old explosive pits with new ones, there’s less need to use lasers to check how much they have degraded over the years. “In the US, we would be remanufacturing our nuclear weapons too, except that we don’t have the capacity to produce large numbers of pits,” says Lewis. The largest US production facility, in Rocky Flats, Colorado, closed in 1992.

The US lost the capability to make nukes in 1992 😳

"How the Sugar Industry Shifted Blame to Fat" - Anahad O’Connor, NYT, 12SEP2016
>The sugar industry paid scientists in the 1960s to play down the link between sugar and heart disease and promote saturated fat as the culprit instead, newly released historical documents show.
The internal sugar industry documents, recently discovered by a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, and published Monday in JAMA Internal Medicine, suggest that five decades of research into the role of nutrition and heart disease, including many of today’s dietary recommendations, may have been largely shaped by the sugar industry.
>“They were able to derail the discussion about sugar for decades,” said Stanton Glantz, a professor of medicine at U.C.S.F. and an author of the JAMA Internal Medicine paper.

"A Retracted Stem Cell Study Reveals Science’s Shortcomings" -
PETER ALDHOUS, SciAm, 02JUL24
>The withdrawal after 22 years of a controversial stem cell paper highlights how perverse incentives can distort scientific progress
>In June a notice posted on the website of the journal Nature set a new scientific record. It withdrew what is now the most highly cited research paper ever to be retracted.
>The study, published in 2002 by Catherine Verfaillie, then at the University of Minnesota, and her colleagues, had been cited 4,482 times by its demise according to the Web of Science. The bone marrow cells it described were lauded as an alternative to embryonic stem cells, offering the same potential to develop into any type of tissue but without the need to destroy an early-stage human embryo. At that time the U.S. government was wrestling with the ethics of funding stem cell research, and politicians opposed to work on embryos championed Verfaillie’s findings.

>Monday’s Supreme Court decision in two NetChoice cases greatly adds to the problem. Cases concern two state laws, Florida and Texas, that limit ability of social media platforms to remove or moderate content. (Both laws were enacted in response to the perceived censorship of political conservatives.) While the Supreme Court remanded both cases to lower courts for further factual development, the court nonetheless went out of its way to state that the millions of algorithmic decisions made every day by social media platforms are protected by the First Amendment. It did so by blithely assuming that those algorithmic decisions are equivalent to the expressive decisions made by human editors at newspapers.
>The next phase in this struggle will presumably concern the regulation of artificial intelligence. I fear that the First Amendment will be extended to protect machine speech — at considerable human cost.
