Let's talk about Linux Mint
Since PewDiePie’s Linux Switch Video, I switched from Windows 10 to Linux Mint. I applaud Pewd’s distate for niggers for refusing to use Ubuntu, but I personally don’t want the Linux experience of wrestling with the OS for hours for a simple task. I switched my machine from Fedora to Mint and found it exceptionally usable. More usable than Windows.
After removing Fedora, I haven’t had to touch the terminal even once. Here is a list of what I found good and evil about the switch to Mint.
White:
• It just works, and works out of the box. No instability, no restarts, none of the infamous Linux troubleshooting required.
• The UX is great. It’s more customizable than Windows, and the start menu has the tree structure of XP. No internet search from start menu. No “AI Assistant.” No telefaggotry.
• Every single Steam game I tested runs with Steam Proton, and every single one runs well, except ArmA: Reforger, which runs poorly. ArmA 3 runs great, so it’s just a matter of time until Bohemia fixes it.
• I was able to install and launch all the Half-Life mods with Steam Proton.
• Epic Games Store Satisfactory launched and worked out of the box with Heroic Launcher.
• VintageStory, Minecraft, SS14, all the Linux games I tested run well.
• LibreOffice is as good as the Office equivalents, if not better.
Semitic:
• Blizzard-Activision games are broken on purpose by the owner of that launcher, Microsoft. So expect to not be able to play those games for a week at a time.
• Your secondary drives aren’t mounted by default, so if you keep your games on another drive, you have to mount from file explorer (Nemo,) then Add Drive in Steam Settings every time you launch Steam.
• If you succumb to the urge to start using the terminal, you might have to start worrying about updates breaking your setup and have your experience degrade to the usual Linux bullshit.
Verdict:
If you don’t care about Blizzard games, it’s time to switch to Mint.
