🇮🇷🇮🇱📝 - Summary for anyone who's catching up on all of this:
• Trump declares ceasefire, vaguely implies it'll start at 12AM eastern (in 3 minutes)
• Everyone then says it'll start at 8:30PM eastern
• Israelis launch huge attack on Tehran right up until 8:29
• Iranian FM vaguely implies that a ceasefire is now in effect, without saying it explicitly
• After a short break, Iran strikes Israel
• Now Israeli sources say the ceasefire is actually supposed to start at 11:00PM
• Netanyahu vaguely says that a ceasefire will start at 12AM
• At 11PM the Iranian strikes stop and every news aggregator says that Iran and Israel have both declared the ceasefire in effect
• Two minutes later Iran launches more missiles
• They've now been pounding Israel for almost an hour straight

I've been tracking social media responses to the Iranian strikes by the US, and it's honestly been surprising.
- Muslim leftists are opposing the strikes over it being pro-Israeli but religiously moderate Muslims are 100% supportive and want to see Iran crash and burn and Persia to be restored.
- Leftist boomers are out in full force against the strikes because they're inherently anti-military but they're finding a weird level of support from some younger Republicans that are against further intervention. Boomer conservatives are 100% supportive of the strikes so far.
- Christian community is mixed. Most seem to be against or neutral on the attacks, with Leftist Christians, to include religiously liberal ones, to be starkly against it entirely. More moderate to conservative Christians are more sympathetic, but it's split along political lines strongly in when it comes to religious beliefs within Christian communities.
- Pagans are strictly against on all levels.
- Feminists are split between being against in solidarity with other leftists or being for because of Iran's very poor treatment of women.
- Overall, the response has been more negative than positive, even among those you'd expect to support Trump.
JUST IN - Trump: "Great unity in the Republican Party."

"Former head of Roscosmos now thinks NASA did not land on the Moon" - Eric Berger, Ars Technica, 08MAY2023
>During his four-year tenure at Roscosmos, Rogozin asked his leadership team to look into whether NASA had actually landed a dozen astronauts on the Moon in the late 60s and early 70s. After all, "It was not clear to me how the United States, at that level of technological development of the '60s of the last century, did what they still cannot do now?"
>In response to these queries, he received angry responses from academicians and "fans" of NASA at Roscosmos who did not want to undermine cooperation with the US space agency on the International Space Station. As evidence for the landing he only received a copy of a book by cosmonaut Alexei Leonov.
>Accordingly, at the end of this "investigation," Rogozin said he does not believe Americans landed on the Moon but rather that they had succeeded in infiltrating the "establishment" of the Russian space program.

"Ernst Mach" - wiki
"Logical Positivism" - wiki
>As a philosopher of science, he was a major influence on logical positivism and American pragmatism. Through his criticism of Isaac Newton's theories of space and time, he foreshadowed Albert Einstein's theory of relativity.
>Mach was baptised by Peregrin Weiss. Mach later became a socialist and an atheist, but his theory and life was sometimes compared to Buddhism. Heinrich Gomperz called Mach the "Buddha of Science" because of his phenomenalist approach to the "Ego" in his Analysis of Sensations.
>In 1901, Mach accepted an appointment to the Austrian House of Lords but declined a nobility because he thought it inappropriate for a scientist to accept such a thing. He was on good personal terms with the Social Democrat politician Viktor Adler and left money in his will to the Social Democrat newspaper Arbeiter-Zeitung.
>Born to a liberal family, Mach lamented that a "very reactionary-clerical" period followed the 1848 revolutions, prompting him to plan to emigrate to America, although he never did.
>Mach was critical of the European powers' colonial conquests, saying that they "will constitute...the most distasteful chapter of history for coming generations".
>One of the best-known of Mach's ideas is the so-called Mach principle, the physical origin of inertia. This was never written down by Mach, but was given a graphic verbal form, attributed by Philipp Frank to Mach: "When the subway jerks, it's the fixed stars that throw you down."
>Mach's principle (or Mach's conjecture) is the name given by Albert Einstein to an imprecise hypothesis often credited to the physicist and philosopher Ernst Mach.
>Because intuitive notions of distance and time no longer apply, what exactly is meant by "Mach's principle" in general relativity is even less clear than in Newtonian physics
>Mach was also well known for his philosophy, developed in close interplay with his science. He defended a type of phenomenalism, recognizing only sensations as real. That position seemed incompatible with the view of atoms and molecules as external, mind-independent things. After an 1897 lecture by Ludwig Boltzmann at the Imperial Academy of Science in Vienna, Mach said, "I don't believe that atoms exist!"
>Mach's positivism influenced many Russian Marxists, such as Alexander Bogdanov. In 1908, Lenin wrote a philosophical work, Materialism and Empirio-criticism, in which he criticized Machism and the views of "Russian Machists".
>In accordance with empirio-critical philosophy, Mach opposed Ludwig Boltzmann and others who proposed an atomic theory of physics. Since one cannot observe things as small as atoms directly, and since no atomic model at the time was consistent, the atomic hypothesis seemed unwarranted to Mach, and perhaps not sufficiently "economical".
>Principles of "Machian physics":
• It should be based entirely on directly observable phenomena (in line with his positivistic leanings)
• It should completely eschew absolute space and time in favour of relative motion
• Any phenomena that seem attributable to absolute space and time (e.g., inertia and centrifugal force) should instead be seen as emerging from the distribution of matter in the universe.
>The last is singled out, particularly by Einstein, as "the" Mach's principle. Einstein cited it as one of the three principles underlying general relativity. In 1930, he wrote, "it is justified to consider Mach as the precursor of the general theory of relativity" and "the whole direction of thought of this theory conforms with Mach's". Einstein further reported that he had read David Hume and Mach's work "with eagerness and admiration shortly before finding relativity theory" and that "very possibly, I wouldn't have come to the solution without those philosophical studies".

"Heatwaves ‘will trigger net zero meltdown" - Joe Pinkstone, Telegraph, 21JUN2025
>Net zero technologies will backfire during heatwaves, Ed Miliband has been warned.
>Heat pumps, electric cars and solar panels are among various decarbonisation initiatives being pushed by the Energy Secretary to help the UK reach net zero by 2050.
>these technologies are at risk of breaking down, exploding and causing power cuts, and may need to be turned off in hot weather.
>A report commissioned by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero warned that much of the energy grid and infrastructure was at risk from warm weather over 27C (81F).
>Britain is set to have its first heatwave of 2025 this weekend, with health officials warning of a risk to life from temperatures of more than 30C. The report offers multiple warnings about the fallibility of net zero technologies in such temperatures.
>Lithium-ion batteries degrade quicker and break down sooner in temperatures above 35C.
