Beneficial reminders and Islaamic Knowledge from the admin of ilm4all.blogspot.com
👉 Everyone will face trials:
Allaah تعالى says:
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُم بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوْفِ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ
{And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits}
📚 [Surah al-Baqarah (2):155]
{You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves}
📚 [Surah aal-Imraan (3): 186]
Ankaboot (29):2]
👉 As test of Faith:
{Or do you think that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allaah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allaah is near!}
📚 [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 214]
{Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe," and they will not be tried?}
📚 [Surah al
👉 A reminder that our lives are not permanent on this earth:
Allaah تعالى says:
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۗ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ
{Every soul will taste death. And We will test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.}
📚 [Surah al-Anbiyaa (21):35]
👉 A reminder to repent and as expiation for our sins:
Allaah تعالى says:
ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ لِيُذِيقَهُم بَعْضَ الَّذِي عَمِلُوا لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
{Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by (reason of) what the hands of people have earned so that Allaah may let them taste part of (the consequence of) what they have done, IN ORDER THAT THEY MAY RETURN (BY REPENTING TO ALLAAH, AND BEGGING HIS FORGIVENESS)}
📚[Surah al-Room (30):41]
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allaah expiates some of his (minor) sins for that.❞
📚 [Saheehain]
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝Trials will not cease afflicting the believing man and the believing woman in their self, children, and wealth, until they meet Allaah without having any sin❞
📚 [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2399) and al-Adab al-Mufrad (494) and graded as "Saheeh" byShaikhal-Albaanee]
👉 For increasing our good deeds in this world and status in Jannah:
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝There is nothing (in the form of trouble) that comes to a Believer - even if it is the pricking of a thorn - except that Allaah writes for him a good deed or his a sin is obliterated.❞
📚 [Saheeh Muslim]
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝The Believer is not afflicted by the prick of a thorn or what is worse (or greater) than that, except that by it Allaah raises him in rank and removes sin from him.❞
📚 [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (965) and graded as "Saheeh" by Shaikh al-Albaanee]
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝When Allaah has previously decreed for a servant a rank which he has not attained by his action, He afflicts him in his body, or his property, or his children. He (تعالى) then enables him to endure that so that He may bring him to the rank previously decreed for him by Allaah.❞
📚 [Sunan Abu Dawood (3090), and graded as "Saheeh" by al-Albaanee in al-Saheehah (2599)]

Ibaadah.
PART #2:
This is where the incident of the “elephant” comes to mind, and how many of them there are! These elephants come in all shapes, forms, and sizes to distract the Believers from their
Abu Is-haaq al-Sheeraazee mentioned in “Ṭabaqaat al-Fuqahaa’” (biography of Yahya Ibn Yahya al-Laythee): It was narrated that one day he was with (Imaam) Maalik Ibn Anas رحمه الله and his companions when someone said: “The elephant has arrived”, so (all of) Maalik’s companions went out to look at it. Maalik asked him: “Why didn’t you go out and see the elephant, as it doesn’t exist in Andalusia (Spain)?” Yahya said to him: “I came all the way from my country only to meet you, learn from your guidance, and (seek) knowledge (from you). I did not come to look at the elephant.” Imaam Maalik was impressed by him and called him the wise man of Andalusia (Spain).” [1]
Al-Ḥaafiẓh al-Dhahabee also mentioned it in “al-Siyar” and “al-Tareekh” (biography of Yahya al-Laythee) and said: “It has reached us that Yahya Ibn Yahya al-Laythee was with Maalik Ibn Anas رحمه الله and an elephant passed by Maalik’s door. Everyone in his gathering went out to see the elephant except for Yahya Ibn Yahya, who did not get up. Maalik was impressed by him and asked him: “Who are you? And which country are you from?” From then onwards, Imaam Maalik continued to honor him.” [2]
The story is over, but what can we conclude from it after reading it carefully? Imaam Maalik’s session included many students of knowledge, but all of them, except for Yahya al-Laythee, participated in the sessions without knowing why they were attending the sessions of knowledge with the great Imaam, except for one student who knew for sure why he came and what his goal was. This brilliant student was not distracted or lost his attention with the others who rushed to see the elephant. But Yahya al-Laythee was not distracted or squandered his energy and time, unlike his peers who rushed to watch the elephant. So, do you see the difference between Yahya and his peers? The first set a goal and sought help from Allaah, and he reached a high position among the jurists and the people of knowledge. Whenever the Muwaṭṭa of Imaam Maalik is mentioned in general, the intended reference is always to the one narrated by Yahya Ibn Yahya Ibn Katheer al-Laythee al-Andaloosee, as it is the most famous and the best of them.
Perhaps someone might ask, what is the relationship between the story of the “elephant” and the two Imaams, Maalik Ibn Anas and Yahya Ibn Yahya al-Laythee رحمهما الله and our Ibaadah (acts of worship)? The relationship is easy to spot, as the elephant is repeated in our time, but in different forms and various ways, generally in our lives, but most especially in the month Ramaḍhaan. People in this blessed month are divided into two groups: the first group has set its goal, so it knows what it wants from Ramaḍhaan and what it wants to achieve from it. The second group is heedless, looking for entertainment, and negligent when it comes to worship, as it is attracted to different types of elephants.

🚩Al-Yaqeen has three levels:
🌟1. Sure Knowledge (علم اليقين)
{Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge} [Surah al-Takaathur (102): 5]
🌟2. Certainty of Sight (عين اليقين)
{And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!} [Surah al-Takaathur (102): 7]
🌟3. True (or absolute) Certainty (حق اليقين)
{Verily, this! This is an absolute Truth with certainty.} [Surah al-Waaqi`ah (56): 95]
📑Example:
🔴1. Your knowledge that there is water in the valley.
🔵2. Seeing the water with your own eyes.
🔴3. Drinking from that water.
📑Another example:
🔵1. When someone tells you that he has honey and you have no reason to doubt him, this is Certainty.
🔴2. He shows it to you, and this increases your certainty.
🔵3. He lets you taste it, and this is the highest level of Certainty.
📑One more example:
🔴1. Our firm belief in the existence of al-Jannah (Paradise) and al-Naar (Fire) - this is Sure Knowledge.
🔵2. On the Day of Judgment, when the Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, and the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the wrongdoers - this is certainty of sight.
🔴3. When people of the Paradise enter the Paradise and the people of the Fire enter the Fire - on that Day it would be True Certainty.
💠 Importance of fighting the desires to have a clean, pure, sound heart
🎓 Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
Regarding the saying of the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ: ❝The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture (image, portrait etc.).❞
📚[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]
I heard Shaikh al-Islaam, Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله, say: “If the Angels – who are a creation (of Allaah) – are prevented by a dog and a picture from entering the house! Then how can - the knowledge (awareness) about Allaah عز وجل, and the love for Him, and the sweetness (one tastes) through His remembrance (Dhikr), and the joy (one feels) when seeking nearness to Him - enter a heart which is filled (infested) by the dogs of desires and their likes?”
📚[Madaarij al-Saalikeen (2/391)]
Regarding the saying of Allaah
{and put your trust in Allaah if you are indeed believers.}
📚[Surah al-Maaidah (5): 23]
🎓Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
❝He تعالى has made reliance upon Allaah as a condition for Imaan, and it is an indication that there is absence of Imaan when there is absence of Trust (in Allaah). And whenever the Imaan of a slave gets stronger, his Trust in Allaah gets stronger. If the Imaan in Allaah is weak, then the Trust in Him will also be weak.❞
📚[Tareeq al-Hijratain (1/255)]
➡️ How many times one of us had wished that were he to be born in the period of the Prophet ﷺ, he would have believed in him, supported him, and fought alongside him...but little do we consider that we could have instead rejected him ﷺ, and rejected the Message he ﷺ had brought and fought against him!
💠 Jubayr Ibn Nufayr said: “One day we were sitting with al-Miqdaad Ibn al-Aswad رضي الله عنه when a man passed us. The man (while referring to al-Miqdaad) said: ‘Blessing be to those two eyes which saw the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ. By Allaah! I wish that I had seen what you have seen and witnessed what you have witnessed!’ This angered al-Miqdaad and that surprised me as the man had said nothing but good things. Then he (al-Miqdaad) turned to them and said: “What made the man desire to summon back what Allaah has taken away? Does he not realize what his situation would be if he had seen him? By Allaah! Certain people had been with the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ, but Allaah has thrown them on their faces into Hellfire because they had neither answered his (the Prophet’s) call nor believed in him. Do you not praise Allaah Almighty (in peace and security)? For He تعالى delivered you (from that harm), and you only know your Lord (i.e. you worship Him alone without Shirk) and confirm what your Prophet ﷺ brought? Sufficient for you is that someone else had been afflicted instead of you. By Allaah! The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ was sent in the harshest condition in which any other Prophet was ever sent – (both) in the time interval (in the line of prophethood) and in ignorance. They (the people) did not believe that the Deen (Islaam) was better than worshiping idols. He ﷺ came with the Furqaan (Criterion) which separated the truth from the falsehood, and which separated the father from his child, till that the man would be able to consider his father, or child, or brother as an unbeliever. Allaah تعالى would loosen the locks of his heart through Imaan, and he would come to realize that the other person (if he were to die upon this Kufr) will be destroyed in the Fire. Therefore his eyes do not find comfort knowing that the one he loves will be in the Fire. It is what Allaah تعالى says:
﴿وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ﴾
{And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes} [Surah al-Furqaan (15): 74]
📚 [Reported in Musnad Ahmad (23810), Saheeh Ibn Hibbaan (6552) and al-Adab al-Mufrad (87), and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. See al-Saheehah (2823)]
🌟 Be the better of the two:
🚫 You are in a Masjid, you know the guy next to you is a Muslim, you just offered the prayer, you made eye contact, yet none of you greet each other with Salaam!
🌴🌴🌴
👉 There are a few reasons why a person does not initiate the greetings with Salaam:
1️⃣ Ignorance – where people give little importance to the Islaamic greetings of saying: “السلام عليكم” and instead initiate their conversations with “Hello”, “Hi”, “good morning”, “good evening” or in Arabic as “صباح النور”, “مساء الخير”.
2️⃣ Negligence – not caring for the rights and honor of others.
3️⃣ Pride – Many elders and affluent people do not greet the young or the poor out of pride. They feel like it is humiliation to initiate the greetings to those who are younger to them in age or lower to them in status; or some will feel like: ‘he did not greet me, so I will not greet him either.’
4️⃣ Limiting the Salaam to only those who are known to you.
🌴🌴🌴
💠 From the signs of the Hour is that people will be miser with greeting with Salaam.Abdullaah ibn Mas
ood رضي الله عنه narrated: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:
❝Verily, among the signs of the Hour is that greeting (of Salaam) is limited to those known only.❞
In another report: ❝A man will greet “Salaam” only to his intimate fellow.❞
📚 [Musnad Ahmad (3535), and graded as “Hasan” (good) by Shaikh Ahmad Shaakir. Shaikh al-Albaanee said in al-Saheehah (648): “it is strong due to the various chains supporting it”]
🌟 When a woman is reformed, the whole house is reformed
{O wives of the Prophet! You are not like any other women. If you keep your duty (to Allaah and fear Him), then be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery, etc.) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honorable manner.
And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, and perform As-Salaah, and give Zakaah and obey Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah wishes only to remove al-Rijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.) from you, O members of the family (of the Prophet ﷺ), and to purify you with a thorough purification.
And remember (O you the members of the Prophet's family, the Graces of your Lord), that which is recited in your houses of the Verses of Allaah and Al-Hikmah (i.e. Prophet's Sunnah legal ways, etc. so give your thanks to Allaah and glorify His Praises for this Qur’aan and the Sunnah). Verily, Allaah is Ever Most Courteous, Well Acquainted with all things.}
📚 [Surah al-Ahzaab (33): 32-34]
══════❁✿❁══════
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝The woman is Awrah (she should be concealed and be covered up properly), for when she goes out the Shaitaan looks at her (and seeks to tempt her).❞
📚 [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (1173) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. See al-Saheehah (2688)]
══════❁✿❁══════
👉 Meaning: The basic idea is to lift up the eyes to look at something. Here it is explained as meaning either that the devil makes her attractive to men, or that the Shaitaan looks at her to seduce her and to seduce people by her. The woman should veil from strangers. When she goes out uncovered, it will create problems for herself and for others.
A woman, even if she is veiled, in the mind of a man, she will still be a female; so how much more seducing she will be when she is uncovered?!
Therefore, we should remember one thing! Allaah تعالى has given her the ability to reform. And when she reforms, she can reform those around her by Allaah’s permission.
If she is reformed, then the whole house will be reformed, even if the one in charge of the house is evil like Fir`aun (Pharoah)!
And if she is corrupt, then the whole house will be corrupted, even if the one in charge of the house is a righteous person! The righteousness of her husband may not benefit her even if he were a Prophet!
{Allaah presents an example for those who disbelieve, the wife of Nooh and the wife of Loot. They were under two of our righteous slaves, but they both betrayed their (husbands by rejecting their doctrine) so they [Nooh and Loot] did not benefit them against Allaah, and it was said: "Enter the Fire along with those who enter!"}
📚 [Surah al-Tahreem (66): 10]
🌙 The 4th Question In The Grave:
Most people only remember the Hadeeth from Sunan al-Tirmidhee that there will be three questions in the grave:
Al-Baraa’ Ibn Aazib رضي الله عنه narrated regarding Allaah's saying:
Abdullaah al-Bajaly رضي الله عنه said: “We were youths around the Prophet ﷺ. We (first) learned Imaan (faith), and then we learned the Qur’aan and it (the Qur’aan) increased our Imaan.”
{يُثَبِّتُ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالقَوْلِ الثَّابِتِ فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَفِي الآخِرَةِ}
{Allaah establishes those who believe, with the word that stands firm in this world and in the Hereafter} (14:27).
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝[This has been revealed concerning the torment of the grave]. In the grave, when it is said to him: “Who is your Lord? What is your religion? And who is your Prophet?”❞
📚[Sunan al-Tirmidhee (3120), and graded as “Ṣaḥeeḥ” by Shaikh al-Albaanee. The wording within the brackets is from Ṣaḥeeḥ Muslim]
💢💢💢
🌟 But there will be the 4th question, as reported by Abu Dawood in his Sunan and Imaam Ahmed in his Musnad:
The Prophet ﷺ said: ❝(As for the Believer), two angels will come to him, make him sit up, and ask him: “Who is your Lord?” He will reply: “My Lord is Allaah.” They will ask him: “What is your religion?” He will reply: “My religion is Islam.” They will ask him: “What is your opinion about the man who was sent on a mission among you?” He will reply: “He is the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ).” They will ask: “Who made you aware of this?” He will answer: “I read Allaah's Book, believed in it, and considered it true.”❞
He ﷺ also mentioned the death of the Kaafir, saying: ❝His soul will be restored to his body, two angels will come to him, make him sit up and ask him: “Who is your Lord?” He will reply: “Alas, alas! I do not know.” They will ask him: “What is your religion?” He will reply: “Alas, alas! I do not know.” They will ask: “Who was the man who was sent on a mission among you?” He will reply: “Alas, alas! I do not know.”❞
📚[Sunan Abu Dawood (4753, 4754), Musnad Ahmad (18534), and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]
In another narration, it will be said to the Kaafir: ❝They (the two Angels) will say to him: “You neither knew nor did you recite.”❞
📚[Musnad Ahmad (18614). See Ahkaah al-Janaaiz of Shaikh al-Albaanee (1/156/108)]
🌴🌴🌴
The fourth question will be about the source of all this knowledge, i.e., the Book of Allaah, the Qur’aan. There is nothing like the Qur’aan to boost the Imaan, and the above Hadeeth is an example.
Jundub Ibn
📚[Sunan Ibn Maajah (61) and authenticated by Shaikh al-Albaanee. Also authenticated by Shaikh Muqbil in “al-Saheeh al-Musnad” (285)]
🚫 In shaa Allaah, in three months' time, we will be welcoming Ramadhaan. But don't wait for Ramadhaan to start the recitation.
✅️ A Muslim needs a daily boost of Imaan. There is nothing like the Qur’aan to boost the Imaan, to strengthen the Yaqeen (certainty), to keep us firm upon the religion, to calm the perplexed heart, and to guide the confused souls.
al-Baraa' رضي الله عنه said: I saw Allaah's Messenger ﷺ on the day (of the battle) of the Trench (al-Ahzaab) carrying earth till the hair of his chest were covered with dust. He was reciting the following poetry of `Abdullaah (Ibn Rawaahah):
"O Allaah, were it not for You, We would not have been guided...
...Nor would have we given in charity, nor would have we prayed.
So, please send tranquility upon us...
...And make our feet firm when we meet the enemy.
For indeed the enemies have rebelled against us...
...Yet if they want to put us in affliction, (i.e. want to fight against us) we would not (flee but withstand them)."
The Prophet ﷺ used to raise his voice while reciting these lines of poetry.

#Aqeedah
Why this Ummah does not have many people who received inspirations like those in the previous nations used to have?!
The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝There had been among the people before you Muhaddathoon (inspired persons) and if there were any such among my Ummah Umar Ibn al-Khattaab would be one of them.❞
Aaishah and Abu Hurairah
Ibn Wahb explained the word Muhaddathoon as: “those who receive hint from the High (Mulhamoon).”
[Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (3689, 3469) andSaheeh Muslim (5901) from the Hadeeth of
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
I heard Shaikh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله saying: ❝It has been affirmed that there were [Muhaddathoon (people who would receive inspirations)] in the nations before us. But there existence in this Ummah has been suspended with the conditional clause: “if” even though it is the best of nations. The nations before us were depended on them (i.e. the Muhaddathoon), whereas this Ummah is not in need of them because of the superiority of its Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and the perfection of its Message. Therefore, after this (i.e. after the coming of the Messenger and the Message), Allaah تعالى did not make this Ummah have the need to depend upon people who receive inspirations, or people who claim of Kashf, [1] or dreams [2]. This deferring is because of the perfection of this Ummah and its independence from such need, and not because there is some deficiency in it.❞
The Muhaddath is the one whose heart receives inspiration about something, and then it happens according to the way he narrates.
Our Shaikh also said: ❝The Siddeeq (the steadfast affirmer of truth, example: Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه) is more perfect than a Muhaddath, because he (the Siddeeq) is made free of want from al-Tahdeeth (i.e. narrating what the heart has been inspired with), al-Ilhaam (seeing a dream), and al-Kashf, because of the perfection of his Siddeeqah (the attribute of affirming the truth) and because of his complying (to the Commands of the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم). He has completely surrendered his heart, his secrets, his outer (actions) and inner (feelings) to (the Commandments of) the Messenger So he is independent of things other than him (the Messenger).❞
[Madaarij al-Saalikeen (1/63-64)]
[1] In dreams a person might see distant places or things whilst asleep, but in Kashf, the Sufees claim to: “see something distant, absent or from the Unseen in the state of wakefulness.” The Sufees consider Kashf to be an important source of hidden knowledge for their elders and Shuyookhs.
[2] Seeing a good dream is from the 46th part of Nubuwway (Prophethood) and it is a way of receiving glad tidings for the Beleivers, as mentioned in the Saheehain. But what the Soofees claim is that they receive new revelations or methods of worship in their dreams after the Deen has been completed and perfected. They also claim to receive revelations directly from Allaah, as they say:
حدثني قلبي عن ربي
My heart informed me from my Lord…
{And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allaah or says: “It has been inspired to me,” while nothing has been inspired to him, and one who says, “I will reveal [something] like what Allaah revealed.”}
⚠Do not abandon the Sunnah or substitute it with something YOU might feel is “better”, nor should you abandon it only because YOU could not understand the reason behind it.
Narrated Zaid bin Aslam from his father who said: Umar bin Al-Khattaab رضي الله عنه addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying: ❝By Allaah! I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet ﷺ touching (and kissing) you, I would never have touched (and kissed) you.❞

🌟2) Regarding Ramal, even though the reason behind it was to show to the Mushriks that the climate of Madeenah had not weakened the Muslims physically. After the conquest of Makkah, and especially during the Khilaafah of `Umar, there were no Mushriks left in Makkah, yet they did the Ramal, in obedience to the Prophet’s Sunnah, even though the reason behind it was not there.
🔥3) These are two important points to remember because when a way has been prescribed in the Sunnah then our logic cannot supersede it. I have personally heard people raise rhetorical questions to justify using logic over religious edicts repeatedly over the years. Now I am not reluctant to call it a trend. Example: If we found an alternative way to do Dhabeehah slaughter that caused less pain for the animal and drained more blood, would we adopt that method of ritual slaughter? In this particular case, the asker was advocating that indeed we should as it would meet the aims that we know about relating to said slaughter. In reality, this is an arrogant thought because such thought stems out of the propaganda that the Islaamic method of slaughtering is barbaric and cruel while the "Western" method is less painful to the animals. Do these Muslims forget that the Prophet ﷺ was sent as a Mercy, and that he ﷺ instructed to sharpen the knives and to avoid slaughtering one animal in front of the other? Had there been any method less painful to the animals, don't you think he ﷺ would have employed it?
🚩This does not mean that we cannot use technology if it serves the same purpose. Example: using loud speakers while giving Adhaan, or using cars and others vehicles as means of transportation instead of horses and camels.

PART #4: RAMAḌHAAN AND THE ELEPHANTS
B) Ramaḍhaan & Shopping
Fasting teaches humility, humbleness, and generosity, but most importantly, it increases the Believers in Taqwa. [1] As Allaah تعالى says:
{O you who Believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may become al-Muttaqoon} [2]
The Prophet ﷺ was the most generous of people, and his generosity would increase in Ramaḍhaan. When he ﷺ used to meet Jibreel عليه السلام and recite the Qur’aan with him, he ﷺ would become even more generous than the fast wind in doing good. [3]
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ used to strive more in worship during Ramaḍhaan than he strove in any other time of the year, and he would devote himself more in the worship of Allaah in the last ten nights of Ramaḍhaan than he strove in the earlier part of the month. [4]
When the last ten nights of Ramaḍhaan would begin, the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ would keep awake at night for prayer and devotion, awaken his family, and devote himself entirely to prayer and supplication. [5] He ﷺ used to observe Itikaaf. [6] He ﷺ encouraged them to look for Laylatul-Qadr in the last ten nights, [7] specifically the odd nights. [8]
Asr prayers, and miss the congregation in the Masjid. Among them are those who wait the whole year and go out shopping only in these last ten nights. As the day of
There is a consensus among Muslims that the best nights are the last ten nights of the month of Ramaḍhaan, and among these nights is Laylatul-Qadr. The reward of worshiping Allaah تعالى on this night is better than a thousand months of worship. Yet many people squander this opportunity. They stay awake these nights and waste them on idle talks or doing not-so-beneficial things, sleep out on the Dhuhr and Eid comes closer, the malls, stores, and shopping centers are crowded with people, everyone trying to make a last-minute purchase before
Eid. With proper planning and discipline, they could do the Eid shopping before the beginning of Ramaḍhaan and not wait till the last minute.
Umar Ibn Al-Khaṭṭaab رضي الله عنه asked Ubayy Ibn Ka
Nightlife on the streets and shopping are some of the other “elephants” in the month of Ramaḍhaan that are the tools of Shaitaan in distracting the Believers from the main objectives, reducing their good deeds, and preventing them from doing a lot of Khair. People should be flocking to the Masaajid and not the stores in these last ten nights of the month of Ramaḍhaan.

PART #3: RAMAḌHAAN AND THE ELEPHANTS
When it comes to Ramaḍhaan, two things play significant roles as elephants:
A) Ramaḍhaan & Entertainment
It is a regular occurrence every year that weeks and days before the blessed month of Ramaḍhaan, we all get enthusiastic, and we all pray to Allaah سبحانه وتعالى to let us reach Ramaḍhaan. The month of Fasting, the month of Qur’aan, the month of Taqwa, the month of amassing lots of good deeds. As if the Ummah becomes one in
Then the blessed month of Ramaḍhaan comes upon us, and we welcome it with excitement and joy. Its blessed days are spent in Fasting, and its nights in prayers. The days and nights would pass so quickly that by the time we get the hang of this month, it dawns upon us that the first ten nights are already gone. Then, we spend the next ten nights preparing for the last ten nights, wishing that we are among those fortunate ones who could attain Laylatul-Qadr. Then the day comes when we wish the month would take its time to depart, as the honorable guest came to us after a long wait and longing, and now it is about to leave. So blessed is he who Fasted during the days and prayed during the nights.
The days of Ramaḍhaan are limited, as Allaah تعالى said:
أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ
{(Fasting for) a limited number of days}
The Believers strive to spend as much time as possible in Allaah’s obedience, as this is an opportunity in the lifetime of a Muslim; perhaps he may not get this (opportunity) again. But at the same time, others strive to get a share of the Believers’ time. Since the Shayaaṭeen are locked up during this blessed month, they leave behind their foot soldiers to do their dirty work in their absence.
As Shaikh Ṣaaleḥ al-Fawzaan حفظه الله said: “But as for those who, when Ramaḍhaan approaches, air corrupt and immoral TV programs, soap operas, useless talk shows (including those based on lies, falsehood, and superstitions), and game shows to keep the Muslims preoccupied (and to divert them from the obedience of Allaah), they (who participate in airing and making these shows) are all Shaytaan’s troops. Shaitaan recruited them for this.
So, it is upon a Muslim to beware of all these (programs and people) and to warn others against them. Ramaḍhaan is not a time for engaging in amusement and play, watching TV series and game shows, and wasting time.”
Every year during this blessed month, there is fierce competition between the satellite channels as they compete to waste the Believers’ precious time. Shows and series are created and aired with the sole purpose of targeting the Believers in this month. Some people watch these shows and series with great passion as if it is part of Ramaḍhaan rituals. Moreover, with the advent of the internet, broadcasting is not limited to satellite channels and televisions; it has also spread to social media, where partial clips or complete episodes are shared on YouTube, Facebook, etc.
Satellite channels are elephants, as are vulgar series and films, songs, backbiting, gossiping, and other types of forbidden things are no different from them because they are all elephants as well, and anything that wastes a Believer’s time and resources is counted among the elephants. Naturally, social media sites (Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) are the elephants of our time. Let us beware of all these elephants and their glitters because they rob us of worship in the best times of the year and waste our time on things that do not benefit us but rather harm us.
We must determine our path and follow in the steps of Yahya Ibn Yahya al-Laythee as an example and set a goal, at least in Ramaḍhaan.
IBAADAH AND THE ELEPHANT

PART #1:
We all know that Shaitaan is our open enemy, and his mission from the time he was expelled from the Jannah (Paradise) till the Day of Judgment is to harm the children of Aadam, prevent them from worshiping Allaah, mislead them from the true path, and try to stop them from entering Jannah. Shaitaan wants to take as many people as possible with him to Jahannam (Hellfire). While mentioning the hypocrites, Allaah تعالى said:
﴿اسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَأَنسَاهُمْ ذِكْرَ اللَّهِ﴾
{Shaitaan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allaah} [1]
Tafseer al-Muyassar:
Shaitaan overcame them and took control of them until they abandoned Allaah’s Commandments and acts of obedience to Him. [2]
Tafseer Ibn Katheer:
Shaitaan has gained control of their hearts to the point that he made them forget Allaah عز وجل. This is what the devil does to those whom he controls. [3]
Tafseer al-Sa
What happened to them was the result of Shaitaan gaining control over them, making their (evil) deeds fair-seeming to them and causing them to forget the remembrance of Allaah. [4]
But when Shaitaan fails to stop the Believers from worshiping Allaah, he interferes in their Ibaadah, diverts their attention, and distracts them.
Uthmaan Ibn Abul
Narrated Aas:
Uthmaan came to Allaah's Messenger ﷺ and said: Allaah’s Messenger, Shaitaan intervenes between me and my prayer and my reciting of the Qur’aan and he confounds me. Thereupon, Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said: ❝That is (the doing of the Shaitaan) who is known as Khanzab, and when you perceive its effect, seek refuge with Allaah from it and spit three times to your left.❞ I did that and Allaah dispelled that from me. [5]
When Shaitaan cannot stop the Believers completely, it then he tries to reduce the reward for their good deeds:Ammaar Ibn Yaasir said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah ﷺ say: ❝A man returns after saying his prayer while only a tenth part of his prayer, or a ninth part, or an eighth part, or a seventh part, or a sixth part, or a fifth part, or a third part, or half of it, is recorded for him.❞ [6] [7]

[7] Losing concentration in prayer will not invalidate the prayer, but it reduces the reward tremendously. So the reward is in proportion to one's Ikhlaas (sincerity) and alertness within the prayers. One should also note that it is a sign of weak Faith if one constantly loses concentration in the prayers, as the hypocrites used to do:
﴿إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَادِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَامُوا كُسَالَىٰ يُرَاءُونَ النَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا﴾
❝{Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allaah, but it is He Who deceives them. And when they stand up for the Ṣalaah (the prayer), they stand with laziness and to be seen of men, and they do not remember Allaah but little.}❞ [Surah al-Nisaa (4): 142]
⚡️The purpose of Khashyah (Fear) and Dhikr (Allaah's remembrance)
🎓Sa`eed Ibn Jubair رحمه الله said:
❝Khashyah (Fear) is: that you fear Allaah so much so that this fear prevents you from committing sins. This is (true) Khashyah (Fear).
And the Dhikr (Remembrance) is: to obey Allaah تعالى. Whoever obeys Allaah تعالى has remembered Him; and whoever disobeys Him has not remembered Him even if he does a lot Tasbeeh* and recites (a lot of) Qur’aan.”
📚[al-Hilyah (4/276)]
*Tasbeeh refers to saying: Sub-haan Allaah (Glory be to Allaah) and all other words said in the praise of Allaah
The number of followers/likes/hits/comments is not the criterion to judge the truth
From Silsilat-ul-Ahaadeeth al-Saheehah of Shaikh al-Albaanee:
397 - “No Prophet (from among the Prophets) has been testified (by such a large number of people) as I have been testified. And verily there would be a Prophet among the Prophets who would be testified to by only one man from his people.”
Reported by Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh (6243) and in Mawaarid (2305) from his chain to Anas Ibn Maalik رضي الله عنه, that he said that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said…and he mentioned the Hadeeth.
I say: The Isnaad of the narration is “Saheeh”, and (Imaam) Muslim has reported it in his Saheeh (383) as well and in the beginning of it is mentioned:
“I would be the first intercessor in the Paradise and no Prophet amongst the Prophets…”
Anas bin Maalik رضي الله عنه said: The Prophet of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “I would be the first intercessor in the Paradise and no Prophet amongst the Prophets has been testified (by such a large number of people) as I have been testified. And verily there would be a Prophet among the Prophets who would be testified to by only one man from his people.”
And the Hadeeth of Ibn Abbaas رضي الله عنهما also testifies to this narration in which the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
ee (the caller to Islaam) is upon truth or falsehood. These are the Prophets (of Allaah) عليهم الصلاة والسلام, even though their Call was one and their Deen was one, still had varying number of followers – some had few, some had more. The extent was that some amongst them had only a single follower; rather, some had no followers at all.
“All the nations were displayed before me. I saw a Prophet who had a very small group with him, another Prophet who was accompanied by only one or two men and some did not have even one…” [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree (5705, 5752, 6541) and Saheeh Muslim (425)]
Shaikh al-Albaanee رحمه الله says: And in this Hadeeth, there is clear evidence that the large number of followers or only a few followers is not the criterion to know if the Daa
And in this there is a great lesson for the callers and the ones being called in this age. The caller should keep this reality in mind, and keep marching forth in the path of calling people towards (the worship of) Allaah. The few numbers should not bother him, because there is no responsibility upon him except to convey the message in a clear way. For he has a beautiful example in the Prophets who have preceded him, those who had no followers except for one or two!
And the one being called should not feel disheartened by the few numbers of those who have responded to this Da`ee’s call, and he should not take this as a means to doubt the truth about the call (of this caller) and abandon Imaan (Faith) because of it; let alone taking it to mean that the call of this caller is falsehood because no one follows him or that only a few number follows him and that if his call was true, then a large population would have followed him.
{And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly.} [Surah Yusuf (12): 103]

THE FIRST AFFLICTION:
His lifespan is reduced everyday. He does not care much about his lifespan being reduced, but if there is any reduction in his wealth, he starts worrying. What he forgets is that wealth is recoverable but not the lifespan.
🌴🌴🌴
THE SECOND AFFLICTION:
Everyday he consumes the sustenance provided to him by Allaah. If it is Halaal, he will be questioned about it [Surah al-Takaathur (102): 8]. But if it is through Haraam means, then he will be punished for it; and no one knows the extent of the punishment except Allaah.
🌴🌴🌴
THE THIRD AFFLICTION:
Everyday he is nearing the Aakhirah by some distance; while at the same time he is being distanced from this worldly life by some distance. But his concern for the EVERLASTING HEREAFTER is nothing as compared to his concern for this FLEETING WORLD. He does not know if his abode will be the highest station in Paradise or the lowest depths of Hell.

For those who sever ties of kinship, their forgiveness and actions are delayed from being accepted:
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrated: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝The actions of the children of Aadam are presented before Allaah تعالى every Thursday evening, the night before Jumuah, but He does not accept the actions of the one who has severed ties of kinship.❞ [1]

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrated: The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝The gates of Paradise are opened on Mondays and Thursdays❞ (in another narration: ❝People’s deeds are presented before Allaah on Mondays and Thursdays❞), and every slave (of Allaah) - who does not associate anything with Allaah in worship - is granted forgiveness (of minor sins). But the person in whose heart there is grudge against his brother (In another narration, the wording is: ❝those who boycott each other❞) will not be pardoned. With regard to them, it is said twice: {Delay these two until they are reconciled}.❞ [2]
Perhaps this could also mean that severing ties of kinship could be the reason why there is a delay in the answering of the supplications.
