WINTERMUTE ACCUSES NEAR OF RENEGING ON USN REDEMPTION: CEO

Crypto market maker Wintermute alleges Near Foundation and Aurora Labs failed to honor commitments to redeem USN stablecoin after agreeing to facilitate an $11M redemption.

Wintermute says it relied on public statements and private confirmation in transacting USN on behalf of FTX creditors. But Near later refused conversion, offering only 20% value.

Wintermute believes the USN Protection Programme lacks accountability and transparency. It plans legal action against Near and Aurora, arguing their unilateral decision caused direct harm by denying the agreed redemption.

The firm says it's publicizing the issue to highlight lack of accountability and deter others from similar actions. It calls on Near to complete the redemption and invites other denied USN holders to get in touch.
