Are virus flips still invisible to the scanner?
I'm considering coming back to the game, but where I am there's a bunch of long range links going through my home town - from my own side. Nothing I can really build/field (within walking distance) without killing them. All these links come from a single portal in the next city over - which I'm visiting for work on Monday.
If I virus flipped that portal, would it be possible for that player to tell who it was? Or would the scanner be silent on the matter of blame?
I'm thinking flip it, wait a few days and "come back". With a little luck I can put up a few baby links up, enough to protect my area so I've got somewhere to field, s/he won't know it was me and I won't have pissed off all the local players by flipping what to them is an important portal.
The alternative is not coming back, because I can't drive and can't get to another area reliably to do anything. It's walk and field....or nothing...

If Niantic are trying to kill Ingress, Machina will do the trick.
The attraction of Ingress is that we're playing against real people. Real people who give up a lot of their time to play the game they love. Some of us have been here since the very early days.
Them along comes a so called machina faction. No, actually let's call it what it really is. A huge global spoofing bot.
Real players now have to chase around wasting gear on the spoofed portals machina creates and take down the shit links it spews everywhere before we can even go about our day to day play.
Reality check Niantic. People aren't interested in your red portals especially now the gear drop is essentially useless. They're nothing more than an annoyance and hindrance to actual game play.
I'm over it and canceling my core subscription till machina fucks right off.

Ingress Prime: Forced to choose (change) your faction and username /L16 40m+ as of June 2023
I've been playing Ingress since 2016. Tried to login 1-2 days ago and got a message, that i should choose my faction. I decided to remain with Resistance. It offered me to choose a new username. Am I starting with a new account?
I'm satisfied with my username, account, choice of faction. I do not play that much lately- perhaps 30-60min per week when using public transport.
I'm not so pleased with latest GPS inaccuracy, jumping from one place to 100-200m(330-660ft). I'm playing in urban area with a lot of portaly nearby. In some rural areas jumping GPS can be a godsend.
Has anyone noticed problems with Ingress? My mobile operator is turning 3G off for 5G in a couple of weeks time. Tried unistalling and reinstalling the app. Login with Google Account. I am still forced with faction and username choice.

Why are schools not allowed for portals?
This has been bugging me for awhile and a bit confusing.
First, my understanding was high schools and elementary school exclusions were due to the pedophile issue. However, I must comment that portal rules allow playgrounds of all other types to be portals. Thus, shouldn't the allowable portals exclude all playgrounds under this type of assumption?
Second, it seems we have all sorts of university and colleges that are portals. So why not other schools?

What are L1 XMP Bursters Good For?
New to the game but I have like 500+ L1 Bursters and they are pretty much useless for taking down portals. I found one, with a single L1 resonator, and it took over 20 Bursters to take down.
Short I just be dropping these? Or do they have some use that I'm just not getting?

Are they scaling down the ingress servers?
I know lag and such are old news, but it seems to have worsened in June. It got worse while the player tracker is showing activity at historically low levels.
Now we have started experiencing "ghost resos" and stuck portals, which were previously only occurring during events. I don't want to even mention recharging defence, that is impossible these days.

Missions answering secret answer?
Hi everyone,I'm new and I that there are a lot of missions that require you to answer a secret answer at the first portal.
But I don't know both the question and the answer lol.
Are these kind of missions meant to be done only by the agent that created them or is there a way for me to figure out the answer to start them?

My name is John Dunham, a researcher at the Niantic x RIT Geo Games and Media Research Lab. I'm currently studying the impacts of location-based game advertising on players of location-based games. We’ve talked to many community members, and through a combination of focus groups and one-on-one interviews, my lab has produced some advertising concepts based on your feedback. We need the location-based game community’s help to evaluate these designs.
The following survey should take about seven minutes to complete. In addition to some basic demographic information (e.g., age, gender, country, games played), sixteen (16) questions ask you to identify the best and worst advertising technique by comparing five samples. Guide: How to get Ingress C.O.R.E for under $2 with a little bit of effort.
Greetings, fellow Ingress agents!
Did you know that you can subscribe to C.O.R.E for a mere $1.65/1.8€ if you buy it via the Turkish Play Store? Yes, you read that correctly! However, it does require a bit of effort and several steps to make it happen. Here's what you need to do:
* If you're in the EU, you need to create a second Google account with a Turkish address.
* You can try to use your normal Google account. It worked for a friend from switzerland, not sure if it works for you americans.
* Use a Turkish VPN and add your credit card with a Turkish address to your Google account
* Check if you see TRY as the currency in Ingress/Play Store.
* If not, I highly recommend giving up, as I wasted countless hours trying to make it happen without success.
* Add your credit card to the second Google account with a Turkish address.
* **Connect your Ingress account to a Facebook account.** Unfortunately, this is **required** as there is no other way to log into your Ingress account without the original Google account (which we can't use in this case).
* Use Samsung Secure Folder or [Shelter](https://f-droid.org/de/packages/net.typeblog.shelter/) to create a second Android profile and add your second Google account to it.
* Download Ingress within the work profile/Samsung Secure Folder.
* Log in to Ingress via Facebook.
* Enjoy cheap CORE and CM. You can also get the badges for around 5€ instead of 29€(?).
