Plane with 50 people onboard goes missing in Russia
Air traffic controllers lost contact with an An-24 passenger plane carrying about 50 people in Russia's far east on Thursday, Russian media reported. The plane, operated by the Angara airline, was headed for the town of Tynda in the Amur region bordering China, and was believed to be a few kilometres away from its destination when it reportedly lost contact.

Meta unveils wristband for controlling computers with hand gestures, shares video
Meta has unveiled a prototype wristband that lets users control computers with hand gestures. The device uses electromyography (EMG) to detect electrical signals from forearm muscles triggered by spinal motor neurons. With the technology, a small wrist flick can move laptop cursor, a thumb-finger tap can launch apps and writing in the air can produce letters on a smartphone screen.

A new Lancet study found that walking 7,000 steps a day may be enough to protect against multiple diseases. Compared to 2,000 steps, it reduces overall death risk by 47%, cardiovascular disease by 25% and dying from cancer by 37%. According to the study, it lowers risks for type 2 diabetes by 14%, dementia by 38%, and depression by 22%.

Ration cards to be cancelled if unused for 6 months
The Centre has amended existing public distribution system norms. The ration cards of beneficiaries who haven't availed of their entitlements in past six months will be cancelled. The state government will conduct field verification and complete e-KYC within three months to reassess eligibility and take further action.
