A U.S. judge approved a motion by the SEC to require Ripple to provide 2022-2023 financial statements and contracts governing institutional sales of XRP. Ripple opposed the motion. The judge earlier determined that institutional sales were securities activities. — link

🇺🇸 Under current fiscal policies, the Debt to GDP ratio in the US is projected to hit 200% within 20 years.
Prior to 2020, Debt to GDP in the US was ~100% and prior to 2008 it was ~60%.
Current estimates show the US hitting $50 trillion in total debt by 2033.
This means that the US will add $218 million in debt EVERY HOUR until 2033.
Just imagine what would happen if the Fed doesn't in fact achieve a soft landing.
This is unsustainable.

Federal Reserve Chairman Powell said that the Fed may wait until March before cutting interest rates to ensure that inflation can sustainably achieve its 2% target. It is expected to cut interest rates three times this year, and the rate of interest rate cuts may be much slower than market expectations. Powell reiterated that neither he nor his colleagues would be swayed by political pressure in this presidential election year. — link

- Data on the economy are not unambiguously positive, with some signs of weakness including rising consumer delinquencies.
- Interest-sensitive sectors of the economy are holding up well.
- Higher neutral rate means monetary policy may not be as tight as thought.
- Means the Fed can take more time to assess upcoming data before beginning rate cuts with less risk to the recovery.
- Core inflation is making rapid progress towards the the Fed's target.

🇨🇳China places new trading restrictions on domestic and foreign investors as the CSI 1000 index hits a 30% loss YTD.
New restrictions include:
1. Limiting investors' ability to short Hong Kong stocks
2. Some investors told that they are not allowed to sell their positions
3. Some quant funds are completely banned from placing sell orders
4. Other quants funds banned from cutting leveraged positions
China's market has officially lost $7 TRILLION in value over the last 3 years.

Sellers located at $43.5k are still very responsive. They were actively selling their holding once the price reached those area again.
Also, the negative sentiment is still in the market as the Grayscale is consistently selling their BTC as well. (although the amount are much decreasing).
Based on the technical analysis perspective, price has also broken down below the lower support TL which is acting as the lower line of the previous anticipated triangle pattern.
We'll see price bleeding slowly if it breaks the structure it's holding as well. The next visit is $40.5k and I'll gladly enter more of long position at this area as well.
BTC is at cheap price as of now and people are in fear, making it more perfect for us to capitalize more profit in the future.
I really hope for further downside movement so I can average more long position of mine to get more profit (in term of $ valuation).

Montenegro police announced this morning that Han Chang-joon, the former financial officer of Terraform Labs, has been extradited back to South Korea. Han Chang-joon and Do Kwon were both arrested in March 2023 at Podgorica Airport in Montenegro. Both U.S. and South Korean prosecutors have requested Do Kwon's extradition. DL News

Nearly 30% of all stocks in China have been halted as China's CSI 1000 index slides 8% in a matter of hours.
Chinese stock market indices today:
1. CSI 1000: -8%
2. Star 50: -5%
3. Beijing 50: -4%
4. Shenzhen: -4%
5. Shanghai Composite: -3%
Meanwhile, the CSI 100 and Hong Kong 50 indices, which represent Chinese large caps, are UP on the day.
Chinese small cap stocks are collapsing while the large caps are completely unfazed.

🇺🇸Data is suggesting that key measures of inflation are back on the rise.
In December, CPI inflation rose to 3.4%, the first monthly increase since September 2023.
As seen in the chart below, many inflation metrics show similar signs.
The most likely outcome of this is less interest rate cuts than what markets are expecting.
This means higher rates for longer and a continued move higher in consumer delinquency rates.
The fight against inflation is not over yet.
