While some Fed officials try to keep alive the prospect of another interest rate increase, the central bank's predominant message is that its next move will be a cut. But the more dovish the Fed sounds, "the more financial conditions will ease, making it more difficult for the Fed to cut," Apollo's Torsten Slok says in a note. He calls it "the Fed Cut Reflexivity Paradox." Slok says that since the FOMC started talking about cuts in November, U.S. stocks have rallied and "the household sector has experienced a windfall." Government spending is also providing "a significant tailwind to the economy," he says.
