The Israeli intelligence agency has spied on Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by it, via WhatsApp
According to Lebanese journalist Elia Manier, an Israeli intelligence agency installed a spyware program on Haniyeh's phone via a WhatsApp message. The spyware allowed them to find the exact location of the Hamas leader's house and to target it with a drone missile strike.
Manier claims that the malware is identical to the Pegasus virus for malicious smartphones, which is developed and sold under license by the NSO Group, an Israeli company. It allows access to notifications, photos, location data and even control the camera and microphone of the phone without the knowledge of the user.
Earlier, the Israelis wrote that a missile was fired at the apartment where the Hamas leader slept.
