Six inj¥red as Isese worshippers come under att+ck in Osun.
Six people, including a woman, were injured when Isese worshippers were att+cked by suspected Muslims at a festival in Ile-Ife, Osun State on January 20, 2025.
Oba Alamo Obatala, a prominent Isese traditional worshipper in the town, told SaharaReporters that the group had announced the festival on the radio for four consecutive days, warning people to stay away from the procession route.
However, despite the warnings, the worshippers were att+cked with stones as they passed through the Idio Market and More Area.
He said: “You know the national museum takes custody of all these Orisa (deities) because of stealing. So whenever we want to do our festival, we normally write a letter to the museum to give us the Orisa and we will bring the Orisa to the Obatala temple.
There is a taboo and divine rule prohibiting Ilare indigenous people from seeing the Orisa during the festival.

Many inj¥red as U.S.-bound flight with 245 passengers makes emergency return to Lagos.
United Airlines flight UA613, en route from Lagos to Washington, declared an emergency and returned to Lagos shortly after takeoff.
Vanguard reports indicate that several passengers and crew members on the Boeing 787-8 sustained minor injuries during the incident.
The flight, carrying 245 passengers, eight cabin crew, and three pilots, had to turn back while flying over Ivory Coast airspace.
A passenger, speaking anonymously, revealed that the emergency occurred after seatbelt signs had been turned off. The aircraft safely landed back at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended a soldier, Lance Corporal Sani Aminu, in possession of a substance suspected to be “Canadian Lo¥d,” a potent imported synthetic strain of cann@bis.
Lance Corporal Aminu, identified by service number 13NA/70/11481, was arrested on Wednesday in Lagos State.
The arrest was confirmed through a police signal obtained by SaharaReporters. According to the report, a police patrol team led by ASP Alex Dung intercepted Aminu near the Abalti Barracks in the Surulere area of Lagos at approximately 8:15 PM.
The police signal stated, “Situation report: Arrest of Military Personnel: On 15/01/2025, at about 20:15HRS, patrol team led by ASP Alex Dung intercepted and brought to the station Lance Corporal Sani Aminu (13NA/70/11481), attached to Abalti Barracks, Surulere, with substances suspected to be Canadian Lo¥d.

So on this particular day during the 2022 festival, we were att+cked by some Muslims. That was the first att+ck that was reported and since then the Muslims and their leaders have been thr3@tening us not to do any Isese festival in Ile-Ife and this is not possible.
This year as we moved past Idio Market, one woman started a problem and it was settled immediately. But as we approached More Area, people started thr%wing st%nes at us from under the tree and from inside nearby houses.
It also happened when we were coming back at night around 9 pm. That was when the woman was att+cked. My car, a Toyota Highlander, was also hit. My windscreen was d@maged.
People were wounded a lot but the injury sustained by one elderly woman was the most severe. Six of our members were wounded.”

Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested two additional suspects linked to the kidn+pping of Mrs. Folashade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu.
It was gathered that during the operation, the police recovered N2.25 million in cash, two locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges.
The suspects, identified as Agbojule Smart, 27, and Keleke Michael, 30, were arrested on Friday morning, January 24, while attempting to flee Lagos State.
Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said: “Upon interrogation, they confessed to their crime; belonging to a gang of 4, 2 of whom have been neutralized previously.
Recovered from the suspects upon their arrest were the sum of N2,250,000 which was part of the requested ransom, 2 locally fabricated rifles, and 11 live cartridges.”
Police operatives rescued mrs. Odumosu from her abductors on Thursday. The police said they neutralised some of the kidn+ppers and recovered the ransom paid.

The passenger said: “We had already been served our meals when the plane lost pressure and dropped. We noticed a sharp descent. I hit my head on the ceiling because of the impact. I became unconscious, but one person from the medical team came to attend to me in the middle of the turmoil.
The sharp descent happened three times, causing some people to sustain injuries. We spent four hours on air. In the midst of the turmoil, the pilot said we were going to land in Ghana, but we eventually landed in Nigeria.”
Clarifying the development, the airline in a chat with Vanguard, said: “Flight UA613 from Lagos to Washington D.C. returned to Lagos to address a technical issue. After landing safely, the aircraft was met by first responders to address reports of minor injuries to several passengers and crew.”
