Hey traders, we want to give you a heads-up on the news trading rules coming into effect soon. Starting next Monday, April 22, we won't be permitting trading major news events four minutes before and four minutes after the event.
There are a few reasons behind this decision:
⏺News trading encourages traders to have an all-in mentality. Just recently, we've seen a large account place 50 lots during a news event to make a fast profit (to the trader's surprise, the account lost over $10,000 in a few minutes). Our mission is to build a community of traders who use risk management and want to use sustainable practices. Gambling mentality is the opposite of what we want to cultivate
⏺Market conditions during major news events make it extremely hard for prop firms to execute high-risk news trading positions on terms expected by the trader
❔ How these rules will work:
⏺ If you open or close a trade within the 8-minute window, manually or via any pending order, stop-loss or take-profit, any profit made during this window may be deducted from your account. In some circumstances, the account may need to be reset entirely if our system flags an account for using too high risk, but good-faith traders won't need to worry about this case
⏺ Entering a trade before the 8-minute window, for example, one hour before a USD news event on XAUUSD, holding throughout, and closing one hour after the news event, is absolutely fine
⏺ This rule affects only instruments related to the event. For example, EUR news won't block you from trading XAU/USD, but trading XAU/USD during USD news would not be permitted
⏺ This rule is in place for major news events only; most news events won't be affected
