He also called on his countrymen to buy Canadian goods and spend their holidays at home rather than in the U.S.
Trump's tariffs against Canada will take effect on February 4.
Mexico promises to respond to Washington with "tariff and non-tariff measures." At the same time, the country's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed openness to negotiations, explaining that problems are resolved not through the introduction of tariffs, but through dialogue.
China has previously said it would complain about the tariffs to the World Trade Organization.
