A Celebration 2,500 Light-Years from Earth
NASA has unveiled a stunning new image of the “Christmas Tree Cluster,” a group of young stars captured using data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory and an astrophotographer based in Arizona.
The cluster earned its festive name due to its appearance: cone-shaped clouds resemble the branches of an evergreen tree, while the stars—over a thousand times younger than our Sun—shine like holiday ornaments.

The Spooky Devil’s Fingers Fungus!
It might look like a monstrous hand emerging from the ground, but don’t be scared—it’s just a fungus! Known scientifically as Anthurus archeri, this fascinating fungus is commonly called “Devil’s Fingers.”
First discovered in Tasmania in the 19th century, its spores eventually spread to Australia. By the early 20th century, it had made its way to Europe, being spotted in France and Poland.
Devil’s Fingers prefer coniferous forests and meadows. Despite its eerie appearance, it’s its foul odor that attracts insects for spore dispersal.

Owls have the widest neck rotation range among animals. This remarkable feature stems from the unique articulation of their spine with the skull. Unlike mammals, which typically have two occipital condyles (spherical ends of a bone that fit into a cavity in another bone to form a joint), owls possess only one.
Additionally, birds have a long, flexible neck containing anywhere from 11 to 23 movable vertebrae. An owl's head can swivel approximately 270 degrees in each direction, allowing for a total rotational range of one and a half full turns. This extraordinary neck flexibility is not just a peculiar trait; it's a critical adaptation that allows owls to have a nearly unobstructed view of their surroundings, an essential asset for a predator that hunts primarily at night.

Chinese Falcon 9 Analog Test Failure
During a recent test, the first stage of China’s Tianlong-3 rocket detached from the launch platform due to a structural failure and crashed in the central Chinese mountains. Fortunately, there were no casualties, according to Tianbing Technology. The two-stage Tianlong-3, powered by kerosene and liquid oxygen, is intended to become reusable, similar to SpaceX’s Falcon 9.
