Croatia 🇭🇷, Crikvenica

Crikvenica in Croatia is a small town with a population of about 10 thousand people. The resort is located on the western coast of the Adriatic Sea (Kvarner Bay) at the foot of majestic mountains.

Its popularity as a place to relax began to grow at the beginning of the XX century. Crikvenica today is a favorite resort for many Europeans for recreational and active recreation. A distinctive feature of the city is the presence of a sandy beach, which is very rare for Croatia.

Crikvenica appeared on the map as a settlement in the XV century and owes its name to the church (in Croatian crikva), built here in 1412. The tourist boom in the town began in the XIX century, and in 1906 it was officially declared a climatic resort.

France, Corsica, Bonifacio

Bonifacio is a place that amazes and enchants at first sight. The "pearl" of Corsica, as it is called here, for its beauty and the color of the sheer cliffs. The landscape is so beautiful that these massive rocks, sea caves and Lavezzi Islands are noticed by UNESCO and are under its auspices. Bonifacio is the very first city in Corsica, founded around 830 AD. He stands proudly above the sea on white cliffs 70-100 meters high and looks into the distance. From the top of the fortress, the neighboring country of Italy, or rather, the island of Sardinia, is visible.

Bonifacio consists of two parts: the port quarter, where the Marina for ships and yachts is located, and the Upper Town ("Citadel").
"Upper Town" is a walled old town, which is a maze of alleys, restaurants, museums and historical sites.

Ecuador 🇪🇨, Paylon del Diablo Waterfall

In Ecuador there is a waterfall with a beautiful and creepy name Paylon del Diablo, which means the devil's cauldron.

This is not the largest waterfall in Ecuador, but it has its own zest. Right next to the waterfall there is a staircase, thanks to which the waterfall can be viewed from all sides. There are several special viewing platforms on the stairs that help tourists feel the full power of the waterfall.

One of the mysteries associated with the waterfall is where the water disappears from the boiler. Scientists had an assumption that it flows into an underground river, and from it into the nearby Upper Lake. Balls and logs were thrown into the waterfall, but they were never found in the upper lake. So this mystery of the Devil's Cauldron has not yet been solved.

Namibia 🇳🇦, the flowering of millions of Sandhof desert lilies
Heavy rains that take place every few years in the Namibian desert cause one of the most impressive natural phenomena - the flowering of millions of lilies that stretch for tens of miles.
Desert lilies belong to the hesperocallis family, a kind of floral plant that includes one species, hesperocalis undulata. The flowers of this species are large, white with pink or green shades and very fragrant, especially at night. It takes heavy rains to wake up the desert lilies. The highest concentration of Sandhof lilies blooms on special occasions in southern Namibia and parts of Botswana.

United Kingdom, Scotland, Dunfermline Abbey

In the center of Dunfermline, one of the historic cities of Scotland and its medieval capitals, there is a monastery belonging to the Benedictine Order. It is called Dunfermline Abbey. This place also serves as a tomb for many Scottish kings.

In 1070, Margaret, the granddaughter of King Edmund II of England, Ironside, married King Malcolm III of Scotland in Dunfermline. The Queen liked these parts so much that she decided to establish a religious community here and invite Benedictine monks from Canterbury here. So in 1072 Dunfermline Abbey was founded.

Norway 🇳🇴, Henningsver village

The settlement covers an area of only 0.3 km2. The population is slightly less than 500 people. This is a classic Scandinavian fishing village with well-preserved architecture. In addition , Henningswer is one of the most famous villages of Lofoten . The stunning atmosphere and the combination of traditional wooden architecture with modern art galleries make this island village one of a kind.

Oddly enough, the villagers love football very much, so a real stadium has been built here, conforming to the strict rules of UEFA. Imagine rocks where there is practically no level ground, and suddenly a stadium. Yes, not a simple yard, but a real one, with a smooth lawn, markings and other attributes. The main thing is not to hit the ball hard, so that it does not fly into the sea.

New Zealand 🇳🇿, Milford Sound

The famous English traveler and writer Rudyard Kipling once visited the shores of Milford Sound and, impressed by what he saw, called this fjord the eighth wonder of the world.

Milford Sound is the most famous fjord on the southwestern tip of the south island of New Zealand. Like the fjords in the northern hemisphere, Milford Sound is the result of many thousands of years of activity of huge glaciers.

From the point of view of geology, Milford Sound is a classic sea fjord that appeared millions of years ago. It owes its existence to the glacier. Melting glaciers generated streams that made their way to the sea and pushed rocks and stones apart. Over time, the glaciers melted, leaving behind deep U-shaped valleys that quickly filled with water due to rising sea levels.

Denmark 🇩🇰

The 40-meter-long Circelbroen pedestrian bridge in Copenhagen is made of five connected circular platforms of various sizes, each of which has its own mast. An analogy is drawn here with sailing boats crossing the numerous canals of Copenhagen.

One part of the bridge is movable, rotating and allowing large boats to pass the channel unhindered. Smaller boats can easily pass under the raised platforms of the Circlebroins.
