The village of Gjógv is located at the northeastern end of the island of Eysturoy, in the Faroe Islands, about 63 km north of the road leading to the capital Torshavn. The purpose of the museum is to draw attention to the problems associated with climate change, habitat destruction and global pollution. De Cayres Taylor hopes that his work will encourage people to think about preserving nature for future generations.

Each balloon house is a spherical structure made of fiberglass-reinforced concrete on a cylindrical base and is designed for one or two people. The diameter of the sphere is 5.5 meters.
