🍭 This week marked the 35th anniversary of the death of Salvador Dalí, one of the most brilliant Surrealists. And 35 years is exactly one half of the copyright validity term in those countries which set it at 70 years from the author’s death. This brand originates from Spain, the artist’s motherland.

So here we are, in the far-away Barcelona, in the middle of the 20th century. A grandson of a big businessman receives the right to manage his grandfather’s company, Granja Asturias. In a few years, the enterprise becomes prosperous.

The original name of the lollipop, “CHUPS”, was registered on September 13 1962 for several jurisdictions, including Spain.

The name “CHUPA CHUPS” that everyone is used to makes its first appearance in the trademarks register on February 17, 1962, and this trademark is still valid.

Among other valid trademarks, you will also find the one protecting the old design with a logo on the side of the lollipop.

Then, Salvador Dalí comes in to create all that we have known since childhood: the marguerite design and the stylized font on the top of the lollipop.
