From 2025 — but not May 15 anymore. The U.S. rule that still rewrites global subscription models.
The FTC’s enforcement of the Negative Option Rule is now set for July 14, 2025.
Subscription offers, auto-renewals, free trials that turn paid — every flow must be clear, consent-based, and easy to cancel.
📌 Even non-U.S. companies risk $53,088 per violation if U.S. users are harmed.
This document breaks down what must be changed — from “click to cancel” to real consent.
The deadline is July. After that, the FTC brings consequences — or gives you more time.
