Since we first connected you’ve been a help to me in getting a simple understanding on how things work in Brazil.

Understanding those around Lula is I think key. I don’t see any major shock to business or loss of confidence from them.

Lula’s last period in office coincided with impressive growth. People said there’d be a return of inflation and economic nationalism but the opposite occurred. There was a commodities boom and Lula recognises that investment is key.

Most should have seen Bolsonaro finally agreed to transfer of power process starting.

Bloomberg business senior editor and the chief economist both see Brazil as a red hot investment distinction of transfer smooth and Meirelles appointed as finance minister.

Eyes now on Lula appointments.

With any joy if deal already agreed with Jangada that’ll get ratified on the near future now..

Politically Lula started the unity process before the election by selecting Geraldo Alckmin as his running mate. A former doctor/ surgeon who was governor of São Paulo state. He is NOT part of Lula’s workers party and actually ran against him. Also, note that Lula lost the governorship races for key states including São Paulo as well as the legislative elections that ran in parallel, which means driving for consensus. So politically it will be stable and centrist.

Economic management- Lula will have a strong, seasoned team. Henrique Meirelles is a heavy hitter and was a key part of Lula’s last economic team. He’s run American banks and sits on the board of many companies. Also note that the brilliant Armenio Fraga came out in support of Lula. He ran Soros’s quantum fund then cane back to Brazil as central banker - the best central banker I have ever seen anywhere in the world. Since then he has made billions in private equity. I understand Lula will reach out to him in some capacity. So very high quality economic talent is available…

For those on here worried about Brazil - don’t be. I lived/ worked in Brazil for many years. The transfer of power to Lula despite a tight election will make Brazil more stable. Lula’s only major declaration has been that he wants to unite the country.

1) news that could be reasonably expected
2) value of what a partner or acquirer could buy- based on % of NPV seen on other such deals.

Outside of news SP really depends on if sellers learn to sell into a rise rather than waiting for no support and the bid hitting..
