ELI5: If exoplanets are detected by the shadow of them passing in front of their stars, then wouldn’t they need to be in an orbital plane perfectly aligned with us in order to detect the shadow?

ELI5: Why don't we have to separate our recycling anymore?

Back when I was a kid, we used to have these three bins for recycling that were labeled something like paper, glass, plastic. Nowadays, we just put all of those (as well as several other dubious recycling candidates) in a big blue bin and it all goes to the magic recycling factory where they say yummy and turn it into earth-saving magic juice.Alright, so I assume around 2005 they made a technology that can separate out different types of materials from each other - which itself doesn't sound too difficult, but if they can do that, why do we even have to separate recycling from garbage at all? Also, I have to assume there's a little tiny bit of diet coke that goes into the recycling from all the diet coke bottles and cans that get tossed in there. How does that get separated out?

Just when we thought Netflix was finally going to release the sequel this year (which they initially finished filming in summer 2022), the movie is rumored to be going back for another round of reshoots, which means it probably won't be released in 2025 if that's the case. It was a fairly popular movie with a good number of fans. Do you guys think this is a case of trying to ensure a good product or finding some excuse to bury it for tax purposes at some point? I'm after the second episode of the series, but something doesn't seem right to me.In the first episode (first season), at the end of it, an interface of a dating app appears on the screen at one point. In the registration field "Create account" an email is entered: orestis87(at)hotmail.com. This is the email of the teacher (maestro).In the second episode, however, the following lines are spoken:- You don’t look 46.- But I am.Assuming the story takes place according to the series' release date, after the pandemic, in 2022, the main character should have been born in 1976. However, based on the email address, he should be 35 years old!This raises the question: is this a script error, was the main character originally intended to be younger, or is Orestis himself pretending to be younger online or he lied to everyone?

There are many videos where you see helpful bystanders rush to a collapsed victim and try to get them up as soon as possible. Doing this can actually be harmful in some case. As my First Aid teacher told me: "when the body goes down to the ground, it's often because it needs to". For example, when someone faints, it's actually helpful that they are lying flat as blood gets to be brain more easily.What should you do when someone collapses?1. Check of the immediate surroundings are safe for you and the victim. If not, call 911/112 (emergency services) and let them handle it. Never put yourself in harm's way (as you may make yourself a victim too).2. Check if the person in conscious by shaking their shoulders and loudly asking "Sir/madam?!". If they are unconscious, call 911/112 (emergency services) immediately, as this person will need medical assistance even if they regain consciousness later.3. If you can, lay/turn the person on their back (be careful to guide their head while turning them over). The best position in the Recovery Position: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/first-aid/recovery-position/If they are conscious, just talk with them calmly while they are still on the ground. Ask how they feel and if anything hurts. If they seem lucid and they feel they can get up, assist them in getting up. Why YSK: Many people have the first instinct to help someone up as soon as possible. Perhaps because it feels unnatural or bad to be lying on the ground. It's often not a good idea to help someone up immediately, so it's good to know that you shouldn't rush someone up, but rather check up on them first. need help finding a new show

I like to wind down at night watching a good show, however it's been ages since I've really been into something. I like intelligent and well written shows, where u get deeply involved with the characters and story and where there's also something important at stake, like real world issues. I have liked and like more comfort shows like The Office, Parks and Rec, Curb etc., but they tend to bore me in the end and feel a bit superficial/like a waste of time so that's not what I'm looking for. I would like something to really dig deep into, something that'll engange me and something that's preferebly about real world issues/power/politics/business.I've enjoyed Succession, BB, Better Caul Saul, Game of Thrones, House of Cards to name a few, and have lately been giving Mad Men a shot (currently in the last episode of season 1, but not really feeling it). Debating whether to start West Wing/The Newsroom/The Wire/Billions/Six Feet Under instead.Anything u can recommend? Would greatly appreciate it :))
