Let’s take an example like TikTok, whose parent company is Chinese. If it does end up being banned in the US, is there anything stopping an American living in the USA from just basically duplicating TikTok under a different name? If there is something stopping them, would be American court? Chinese court? I suppose where I’m confused is Copyright infringement is typically because harm is done to the original creator/author. But if the product isn’t even available in our market, what harm is being done? And specifically how is that harm assessed and enforced?

New Non-English series doesn’t have subtitles in English

I’m trying to watch the series Public Disorder, but it does not come with English subtitles. It has subtitles in every other language but English. I personally prefer not to use the dub(of which an English version exists), so this is really frustrating. Has anyone had this problem with other foreign series as of recently?

I have paid for a multi user plan for years with Netflix. Now it comes to my attention that Netflix changed the plan I have and if I go to my brothers house to watch stuff I now have to pay 7.99 extra a month. Does any one have suggestions on plans. I really don't want commercials, nor do I want my plan canceled because of vacations and visiting family.

ELI5: How do protons change the behaviour of atoms?

I know atoms are made from protons, neutrons and electrons. But how do those translate into behaviours?79 protons is gold, fairly stable and non reactive. Add one proton and suddenly mercury which has a lower melting point, less stable, more reactive.Another and you get gallium, melting point goes up again, less reactive than mercury, more reactive than gold. Once more and lead. So on and so on. It feels almost arbitrary.
