When my grandparents were growing up they were taught to swim by literally being thrown into the creek over their head. (I obviously don't advise this as it's actually dangerous) They successfully learned to swim though pretty instantly Why YSK: Some people just learn best by going all in. I find especially with having adhd I need a challenge. I can't just slowly learn fundamentals. I need advanced techniques and to puzzle out the fundamentals myself out of necessity so I understand why they exist in the first place. I need the bigger picture of how it all works. Plus if you start with something hard nothing in that craft will ever intimidate you again because you can already do the hard stuff. My first piece of clothing I sewed was a 5 piece ball gown with a full corset and boning. I'm currently learning to knit on an "advanced" level pattern and it's coming out great. There's many different learning styles. All are valid. However, that means the style of learning by jumping in the deep end is also valid. You'll find a lot of people who don't learn like this insist it's impossible to do so because they can't and it makes them feel bad they failed when they tried. It's just not doable for them because that's not their learning style. If it is yours don't refuse to take it because someone without your skills can't learn as fast and independently as you can.Unless you're seeking formal education in a regulated field in which you're trying to get accredited, there no actual rule to stop you from learning by starting with a super hard project. Be ambitious.This doesn't apply to things that are actually dangerous to do. Please follow all safety precautions there. No one please go try to be a stunt man with no training. I'm not saying it's not doable, but for many it's not and if you're one of the ones it's not you'll learn that by dying.

I mean to the outside, your eyes can't be seen. And you can't see the world. You can have the world be shown in a cartoonish style or with modern cameras see the world just like you would with your own eyes.So just get a good amount of power banks onto you, use the VR headset and you are good to live again?

Prenium membership was paid but when I log in it asks me to finish signing up and choosing a plan

Got 20 bucks removed from my bank account December 24th for the prenium account membership I already had, and now when I connect to my account it says I have to pay. So I'm pretty confused. Did the membership stop? Why? Should I contact Netflix somehow to get my 20 bucks worth back or something?

ELI5: Why are stomach bugs cleared by the body quicker then respiratory infections

I know there are exceptions but for stomach ailments 24-48 hour bugs are just way more common. If you get a cold, you are stuck with it for a week on average even if it only takes a few days for worst symptoms to subside. My understanding is for a cold or flu, you are kind of waiting on your body to make antibodies before the infection can properly be yeeted. Can the stomach antibodies be generated quicker since it’s a more targeted area or do you not even need them since you can just have the runs until you clear it.

Any thoughts on the One Hundred Years of Solitude series?

Just been watching the series after reading the book several times. The series seems pretty accurate to the book, although Gabriel Garcia Marquez never wanted the book to be put into a movie. It seems that stretching the book into an 8 episode series gave a lot of opportunity to make it very faithful to the book.

Why do the college football coaches have police protection in their games when typically the pro football coaches don’t?When watching college football games I see the coaches get police escort on/off the field as well as when the coaches meet mid-field after the game. But I don’t generally see this happening in pro football games.

Can’t stream live sports from phone to tv

ELI5: Why can't we move eyes independently?

Why are some animals able to move their eyes independently of each other but we can't? Wouldn't we be able to have a wider field of vision of we could look to the side with both eyes instead of in just one direction? What would happen if you physically forced eyes to move like that? Would the brain get really confused and present a blurred image?

Netflix auto dimming on my phone?

I’m not sure if it’s a problem with my phone, or Netflix, but when I’m watching a show and there’s a bright scene, my screen automatically dims. However my screen brightness itself doesn’t move. I’ve noticed it the most when I’m watching anime, like demon slayer or mha. Any help?

I am trying to add another household (my parents that live in another country) as an extra member but I am being blocked by country restriction.I read a lot of posts and what I’ve gathered is that the account only needs to be activated in a OG country, but after that it can be used whenever.So realistically can I send a request to my mom, log in to her email through my laptop, activate it, and then give her access?Would that work?

ELI5: Is microplastic shedding from plastic appliances a concern?

I hear about microplastic in the context of ingestion a lot, but is abrasion a point of concern? Is it like every time I handle some plastic thing pieces of it come off? Skin is probably pretty strong and resilient I suppose, but I imagine if a kid plays with plastic toys all day long and then rubs their eyes, that could be something? Has it been researched and declared not a big deal? Or has no one bothered to look into it? Or do we not have the tools to understand it properly?

Hi so first of all, is there an easier way to login that typing the email and password on the TV? It was so laggy even though I have the best internet around.Secondly, as I watch the KC game, different family members at different TVs around the house, one is far behind the other. Why is that?
