Why YSK: Is your laptop constantly forcing you to update every time you reboot it? That’s because you’re very behind on monthly updates.Microsoft only releases one (1) update for Windows each month. It happens on the second Tuesday of the month (there are exceptions, but extremely rare), known as “Patch Tuesday”. These updates are usually small updates to malware definitions, which are critical in keeping your computer safe.Windows does not start forcing you to update unless you’re already a few updates behind. That means you’re a few months out of date. At that point, Windows knows it absolutely needs to bring you up to speed ASAP, and that’s when it starts force-restarting your computer.What’s the best thing you can do?Take five minutes, right now, and install all the updates from the Windows Update app. Once you do this, from now on you’ll only have to restart your computer once a month. Next update drops November 12.

ELI5: Why can’t mosquitos transmit HIV to humans?

I’ve long known that mosquitos cannot transmit HIV to human beings, but has anyone ever considered this theory? If an HIV infected person was standing beside of an HIV negative person, and a mosquito flys over and bites the HIV positive person, and then seconds later, that exact same mosquito flys over to the HIV negative person and begins to bite them. Why can’t the HIV positive blood remain infectious on the mouthparts (needle, feeding apparatus) of the mosquito and infect the HIV negative person? Think of it like a flying hypodermic needle/syringe! Keep in mind, only a few seconds have passed between the two bites. Let’s hear it!

Didn’t know what specific flair this called for. I saw some post on fb, which I never taking at face value, but I also do not have the knowledge to dispute it or confirm it. I did a bit of research myself, but didn’t find the answers I was looking for. All I managed to find, or think I learned, is that it just thrives in radiation but isn’t decreasing it. Maybe not? Help? lol

I am wondering about signature pads. A lot of places use them.If I am standing at a counter at a reception desk. I am asked to sign an electronic signature pad.Why is that valid? I just signed a pad. The screen on the computer is not even visable to me. That signature could be applied to any document.The person may say something about what I am signing for. But this is normally a vauge description."Sign for this key"But I did not read the document. How can that be considered usable?

Restricted movies with Netflix ads tier!?

Anybody else run into this yet? I recently switched to the ads tier and assumed that it would be like Hulu - just a few ads here and there. Today, I went to watch The Bad Boys movie and received a message that it was not available to subscribers with the ads tier. I would have to upgrade. The movie wasn't THAT good so that won't be happening! Instead, I'll just probably cancel Netflix!

Why YSK: I often hear complains about traditional therapy feeling like paid venting sessions. In cases like this the person is encouraged to switch therapists which may or not help them find the right professional. However, research points to cognitive behavioural therapy and hypnotherapy being effective at treating difficult mental disorders. While traditional therapy has it's benefits it's still important to know about other approaches to widen a person's chance at managing their issues. I think it's necessary to share this incase some are constantly switching therapists without seeing any improvements. Netflix's account restriction will be its downfall

I've been using Netflix for over 10 years, binge watching and sharing was the best thing about it. Now, i'm paying the highest tier and i can't share it across different households. Not all, but some of the shows now release weekly episodes. They are squeezing as much money they can out of their customers.If Prime or Disney ever merge or something along those lines, Netflix will be gone.So many people are pissed off, Netflix is pissing off their loyal customer base.

Huge sports documentary fan in general. Longtime, avid NBA fan as well, myself.But I thoroughly did NOT enjoy Episode 1 of "Starting 5".I didn't care about LeBron's love for Beetlejuice. I don't care that Jimmy Butler is the self-proclaimed best Dominos player in the world. And my god, Anthony Edwards is just totally insufferable.For those who have watched all/most of it, does it get better? Is it worth the watch?How does it compare to, say, "Drive to Survive" or "Sunderland 'til I Die" (both of which I absolutely loved)?
