ELI5 why do people say there is no theoretical limit to the height of a skyscraper?

The general consensus seems to be that you can keep building upwards as long as the base can expand, but after a certain height won't the the central column be under too much load to bear with modern building materials? Even if we made the core solid and heavily reinforced, which would not be practical to begin with for a building, wouldn't it crumble at some point?

YSK your loyalty to tv/cell phone companies mean very little

Why YSK: I’ve worked in telecommunications and sales for 5 years; a common complaint I see is people demanding better service/plans compared to new clients. Example: new clients get phone credit + extra data or more off service plans. While renewing clients get only renewal deals which are usually capped at a lower discounted price than new clients.Since it’s the holiday season and people often get phones or the lot for gifts please consider all options. If you can and do find a better deal elsewhere take it. You’re only a number to the company, might as well benefit yourself.(This is the case 9/10 times. If I’m wrong in your case then you’re very fortunate!)Also do your research, if you switch companies make sure you get one that matches your present service coverage!

Netflix on PC is unwatchable because of poor quality

Does someone have the same issue? it's not my interntet connection because HBO or Prime Video work just fine. It's also something that only happens on my PC, my TV or cellphone have a much higher quality. On PC it looks like i'm watching some compressed YouTube video at 480p with no bitrate.

How did people buy homes before mortgages were available without being absolutely loaded? If I had to purchase my place for its’ full value I wouldn’t have a home, I’d be renting. If all my money goes to rent, I can never buy a home. Did people only rent who couldn’t afford the value of a home?

Low volume using iPod minis when watching TV shows?

Haven’t had Netflix since 2020, I only got it again tonight for the 2 x-mas nfl games….Anyway, might as well test it and use it for a month, but the volume absolutely sucks with the mini’s. Is that normal?YTTV, Peacock, ESPN+ and Prime all sound fine.I’ll have the games go through my surround sound system, but that’s just overkill for me when I want to watch a TV show or 2 in the evening.Any suggestions, thanks.

Brightness issues

I’ve been watching The Ranch today. All of part 4 was completely fine. As soon as I got to part 5 everything was visibly darker. I thought it was just the scene at the start of the episode but as it went on, it didn’t get brighter. I went back to the previous episode and the brightness was perfectly fine. Jumped back to my current episode and it’s still too dark. Any ideas what’s going on?

My partner and I switch off

This is really annoying me. My partner and I switch off households in different states. I travel for work and my partner comes to me sometimes. Recently in the past 2 to 3 months Netflix is no longer showing the I’m traveling option only the update household. We’re trying to save money and we are not understanding why this is changed. We are one household. Every single time we’re having to update the household. I’m a pause. The show to get up and pee and I come back and I have to update the household which then makes her have to update it in five minutes. What the heck happened?!?

AU release dates - fail

I've found this a number of times with Netflix when they provide a release date. B/c Australia is ahead of North America the date listed in the app (tv and devices) is incorrect. For instance today is the 19th, I've waited weeks for a release which was listed for today...no drop. I'm guessing that come the 19th in the US it'll be available but just a guess.For a company as large as Netflix who has bothered with location blocking it seems crazy they can't seem to figure out locales and release dates. FAIL!
