was Trimagasi Role in El Hoyo (The Platform) meant to be like Virgil in Dante's Inferno
At /r/netflix
so in El Hoyo (The Platform), Trimagasi was Goreng's first cellmate who was armed with a knife. when they get on a bad level he decides to wade it out for a week before eating from Gorang. as he's about to slice the lady who rides down once a month comes behind him and releases Gorang. Gorang takes the knife and brutally stabs Trimagasi. That is not the last time we see him as we see him throughout the film as a hallucination when Gorange is given the gas. This makes me think of Vergil from The Devine Comedy or Dante's Inferno because in that book Vergil is sorta a guide for Dante Guiding him throughout the levels of hell. much like how trimagasi guides gorang though the levels of The Pit

Is this a scam or legit?
At /r/netflix
After a longer time (since October 23) I wanted to reactivate my Netflix subscription but I login to my Netflix account anymore (it’s says it can’t find an account with my email).I contacted this Customer Hotline from my emails: 0800 110 334The woman on the phone tried to find my account by email and by PayPal (the payment option I always used) but couldn’t find anything. Then she started this “Session” on the phone where a robot voice told me to enter my credit card number (not the CVC) but that felt a bit odd so I hung up.Now I want to verify if this is actually Netflix or a scam. The email where I got the hotline number from is this: info@account.netflix.comAny help is appreciated

ELI5: Does laying in bed with your eyes closed for 30 minutes have any rejuvenating effect even if you don't fall asleep?
At /r/explainlikeimfive
I've noticed at times where I'm exhausted and sleep deprived, I'll try to nap for 30 minutes but never actually able to fall asleep due to a racing mind or whatever the cause may be. But eventually I reach a point where I dont have any more free time to waste so i get up and feel a bit recharged despite not getting a wink of actual sleep. What's going on here? Did I actually fall asleep for a few minutes and not realize? Or is my body feeling recharged from laying down and not having as much stimulus

Shows like Queen's Gambit
At /r/netflix
I absolutely love the Queens Gambit and have watched it 4+ times through. What shows have the same feeling? Have its creators made any other shows, mini-series, or movies like it?For reference I love Mike Flanagan's work (Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, Fall of the House of Usher, which I all recommend) so that is my sort of vibe I like. Any suggestions are welcome!

How does Carry-On have 86%?
At /r/netflix
That seems high. I did just discover that the director, Jaume Collet-Serra, is famous for making 4 back-to-back Taken clones with Liam Neeson that I've never heard of. He's adept at churning out generic action/thrillers about a dude that's in over his head. But Carry-On was so cliched and so bad! I love seeing Jason Bateman as a bad guy, but the thing was way too contrived to merit an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score.

YSK: The "your brain stops developing at 25" thing is a myth.
At /r/YouShouldKnow
Why YSK: If you engage in any discussions about when people are old enough to do X, someone will inevitably repeat this myth. It's good to know it's not true so that you won't be swayed by it and can make up your mind based on more relevant arguments. As this article explains, there is no concrete cutoff point when your brain reaches maturity or stops developing. A few choice quotes:There’s consensus among neuroscientists that brain development continues into the 20s, but there’s far from any consensus about any specific age that defines the boundary between adolescence and adulthood./That means that for some people, changes in the prefrontal cortex really might plateau around 25—but not for everyone. And the prefrontal cortex is just one area of the brain; researchers homed in on it because it’s a major player in coordinating “higher thought,” but other parts of the brain are also required for a behavior as complex as decision making. The temporal lobe helps process others’ speech and language so you can understand what’s going on, while the occipital lobe allows you to watch for social cues. According to a 2016 Neuron paper by Harvard psychologist Leah Somerville, the structure of these and other brain areas changes at different rates throughout our life span, growing and shrinking; in fact, structural changes in the brain continue far past people’s 20s. “One especially large study showed that for several brain regions, structural growth curves had not plateaued even by the age of 30, the oldest age in their sample,” she wrote. “Other work focused on structural brain measures through adulthood show progressive volumetric changes from ages 15–90 that never ‘level off’ and instead changed constantly throughout the adult phase of life.”/In one study, participants ranged from 7 to 30 years old, and researchers tried to predict each person’s “brain age” by mapping the connections in each person’s brain. Their age predictions accounted for about 55 percent of the variance among the participants, but far from all of it. “Some 8-year-old brains exhibited a greater ‘maturation index’ than some 25 year old brains,” Somerville wrote in her Neuron review. Some of those differences might be random genetic variation, but people’s behavior and lived experience contribute as well. “Childhood experiences, epigenetics, substance use, genetics related to anxiety, psychosis, and ADHD—all that affects brain development as well,” said Sarah Mallard Wakefield, a forensic psychiatrist.

Polo (Series)
At /r/netflix
This was a crap attempt at capitalizing on the success of Drive to Survive, Receiver, etc. This was BY FAR the worst of that type of show. Snooze fest to the max. The only good thing about this show full of entitled and boring snobs, was the wife in episode one. Total smoke-show. She was also an attorney and athlete. The rest of the people, oh my god, who gives a shit. When you’re playing a game where you can accidentally almost be late because you are farting around a barn, it’s not worth a documentary. ELI5: Why do Americans seem to get absolutely knocked off during wisdom tooth removal?
At /r/explainlikeimfive
I've seen countless videos and posts from Americans about their wisdom tooth removal; how they get drugged to absolute zombies and talk crazy shit afterwards. Why?I've had my wisdom teeth removed here in EU. One of my wisdom tooth required a surgery where part of my lower jaw had to be sawed off to remove strangled roots. They gave me 4 anesthetic shots around the tooth to make it numb, and proceeded with the surgery which lasted for about 60 minutes. No pain or anything, walked home after procedure when bleeding had stopped and just took ibuprofen with antibiotics for a couple of days.
