ELI5: How can we hold onto fears we develop as babies, despite not having memories of being babies?
At /r/explainlikeimfive
I (22M) have always had a bit of a nervous tick around chickens, dating all the way back to being a toddler. They always looked kinda unsettling to me and seem rather unpredictable, so I'm often worried that they're gonna jump at me and kick/peck me randomly for no reason (kinda like how wasps tend to fly at you and sting you randomly for no reason). Nowadays, I'm not really afraid, just nervous, but as a young kid I used to scream and flip out (don't judge me).Went to see my older brother at a mutual friend's chicken farm the other day, and my brother was like "he don't like chickens, bruh. He got kicked by a hen when he was a baby."I remember getting scared when a hen with chicks jumped and clucked around behind a fence as I walked past when I was 4, but that hen didn't kick me, it was behind a fence, and I was already afraid of chickens before that anyway. It must've been another hen when I was like 1-2 years old, because by the time I was 3 I was already remembering my life. How can remember that I'm afraid of chickens, but I can't remember the event that made me afraid of chickens as a baby?

I watched season 2 episode 7 and 8 of The Diplomat and now Netflix is gaslighting me into thinking it doesn’t exist
At /r/netflix
I am trying to rewatch The Diplomat with my daughter and it says the season ends on episode 6, however just three days ago I showed her the clip of Grace Penn explaining why Scotland needs to remain with the UK which got her interested in the show, a scene from episode 8.When we got to episode 6, Netflix stated that there were no more episodes, even though just three days ago I watched both episodes 7 and 8.I then did some research about it and people seem to be saying that the season finale was indeed episode 6, and I mean articles from late October and early November stating this, but three days ago I watched episodes 7 and 8 of season 2 on Netflix.I searched up clips on YouTube and they exist, confirming to me that this footage does indeed exist, and yet Netflix only has 6 episodes in season 2.Can someone explain to me what’s happening? Or if someone else is going through the same issue?

Thoughts on Enigma – The Aaron Rodgers Netflix Doc
At /r/netflix
Is anyone else watching Enigma on Netflix? I’m finding it pretty interesting, but I can’t help but feel like there’s some irony here. Aaron Rodgers talks a lot about not liking fame, but then... he makes a whole documentary about himself? Seems like a bit of an attention grab, right? I mean, you can’t really say you don’t want the spotlight when you’re producing a series all about you. Also, they hint at him running for Vice President, which is wild to think about. Can you imagine him in politics? I’d love to hear what everyone else thinks about the series and Rodgers in general—whether you’re a fan or think he’s just playing up the “enigmatic” vibe for the cameras.

Suggestions for my picky parents
At /r/netflix
I need series my parents can watch/ I can watch with them. The only series that absolutely loved were prison break, they almost watched it twice. Any other serie they just bash. They want a series that is finished, so no more waiting for new seasons. I just tried so many series and they never like it like they did with prison break lol. Anyone that loves prison break here got the same feeling or vibe with other series? They love sci Fi movies as well.

What did you all make of Netflix's Senna series?
At /r/netflix
As a huge Formula One fan, I recently finished the new Senna series on Netflix, and I won't lie to you - was a little bit disappointed. A lot of the characters feel quite hollow, which is big mistake when creating a show, but also because these are real people and they're drivers who were on camera a lot, so it feels strange that they essentially become cartoonish rather than authentic and what the person was like in real life, a bit disappointing. They also didn't really touch on Senna's faith and religion like, at all. Which is again, a baffling decision considering Senna at one point literally said: "I saw God visually"I think maybe for F1 fans this is going to be quite a frustrating watch, and the question must be raised at this point - should Netflix really be producing F1 content? They've received criticism for their "Drive to Survive" series, and now this series as well...Anyway enough of my rambling, what did you all make of the Senna series?Netflix's Senna Critique and Analysis

Ronny Chieng special so phenomenal!!
At /r/netflix
This guy f-ing killed it. His audience couldn’t even keep up with his one liner references that were so clever. After I watched it, I had watched his special from 2022 and you can tell he did not hold back this time around. I mean he was honest about how he was there to take the audiences money. He was honest about how American culture is so twisted with money when it comes to their own parents and America. He made so many important points that people in general should really reflect on. I love this guy - reminds me so much of George Carlin. I had no idea who he was but I tend to watch what’s in the top 10 and this is. Not as heart felt as Jamie Foxx’s special but clearly a different story there. Ronny paid tribute to his dad at the end and I had some tears but I hadn’t laughed that hard in so long. I hope he does more specials/ tours - before he decides to peace out. I’d pay to see him to make me laugh. I wanted to see who else watched and everyone’s thoughts were. Did you love it as much as me or were you insulted like some people are by comedians these days?

YSK Roman Tomb Altar Showing a deceased Lap Dog Approaching a Table Set With Food Offerings - The Inscription Reads "Stop to look at the tomb of the jubilant dog Aeolis for whom I felt immeasurable pain as she was carried away from me by the swift fate"
At /r/YouShouldKnow
https://imgur.com/a/i1288krCurator Comments:
the choice of positioning of the words in the non verse in fact it seems casual but dictated by a desire to emphasize the words key to the text so as to arouse and draw the attention of the passer-by: see the example, the separate provision, at opposite edges of the hexameter, of Aeolidis, proper noun expressed in the genitive case, and catellae, noun to define the-little dog‖; the word tumulum, "burial, sepulcher", is instead framed from the name indication and from the adjective festive and attributed to the animal. The adjective festivus is not found in other carmina5 and it is evident that it is here used to emphasize the playful liveliness of the animal. The second hexameterit ends with the noun fate, a term left deliberately isolated and centered in the last line to give prominence and depth to the concept of the transience of lifes object to the inevitability of the fatum6. The latter is also characterized from the adjective, in the ablative case, praepes-etis,which gives the lexical binomialan almost epic solemnity and gravity. The expression praepete fato does not occur elsewhere in the carmina: it is preferred, albeit rarely, and in high diegetic contexts, the equivalent formula properantia fata7.While the first verse focuses on the invitation to the viator (viathe imperative cerne) to look at the sepulcher of the jubilant dog14(topos also intensely exploited in funerary epigraphy) that it seems almost revived in the bas-relief, the second verse is instead characterized by boundless pain of the master for this death8. The choice of the verb dolēre(constructed with the accusation of the thing for which one feels suffering, in this case the relative pronoun quam), of the adverb in modice, and of the participle raptam contribute, albeit with extreme synthesis, to strengthen and enhance the deep sense of despair and helplessness that assails the master of Aeolis9. Aan interesting aspect is also constituted by the choice of the monumentum: it is in fact of a funerary altar on whose side faces urceus and patera are sculpted. This support, frequently used to house sepulchral inscriptions intended for humans, is used here for a little dog denoting inin the first place the economic possibility and the cultural stature of the client, moreover anonymous, and, secondly, what could be defined as the"Humanization process" that involves the animal both in life and in death. The symbolic and ritual value linked to this choice therefore emerges with clarity and is further corroborated by the relief on the forehead of the aretta depicting the animal approaching a table set with food offerings. The bas-relief seems to recall the funeral banquet, practical central to the Roman funerary tradition. In fact, death and banquet are two strongly interconnected aspects and full of concrete and symbolic values: to such Aeolis, a little dog, takes part in the meal and therefore does not seem excluded from the ritual dimension reserved for menWhy YSK: If you have a dog you should give it a proper respecting burial by making a tomb and then offering them food so you say proper goodbye to them and their soul leave the world by having their last meal satisfied

Upcoming movie "Hurt People" (potential spoilers).
At /r/netflix
Netflix bought Melissa London Hilfers' spec script a few months back.I read a review for it on scriptshadow.net. It's a legal drama with some interesting wrinkles. The main protagonist is a 40-year-old lawyer having an affair with a co-worker. She then gets to bond with her estranged father while defending him in a trial of which he is accused of murdering his ex-wife. There's a twist at the end that is totally unpredictable if you're not expecting a twist. There's just no hint whatsoever. I'm not the biggest fan of shocking last minute twists, but here it works, because it makes that character even more intriguing. I'm fascinated by characters who do bad and even evil things, but still feel like real people. What they call "morally grey" or "tragically bad." This script has a few of them. The reviewer made a casting suggestion for the main lead: Natalie Portman. I agree with him. She's never played a character like this, but she would be really interesting and probably nail it. Thoughts?
