Why YSK: for anyone trying to sound more fluent in English, there are two common mistakes that instantly indicate someone has learned English as a second language.It's either "how did it look?" or "what did it look like?" not "how did it look like?". "Like" is only used in combination with "what". Some correct examples:"how does it smell? / what does it smell like?""how my wife looks in her wedding dress / what my wife looks like in her wedding dress""you won't like how I look when I'm angry / you won't like what I look like when I'm angry" "how a president should look / what a president should look like"Why: "how" refers to the general condition of something whereas "what" is used to refer to specific qualities. This is really common in post titles! Using the past tense form of a verb following "Did" in a question. Incorrect: "did you went to the cinema?" Correct: "did you go to the cinema?" why: the auxiliary verb "did" is already the past tense of the verb "to do" so the main verb remains in the present tense. Incorrect: "did you cooked the meal?" Correct: "did you cook the meal?" Incorrect: "what did you thought of the movie?" Correct: "what did you think of the movie?"

Why YSK: In a world with less and less community connection some social etiquette that adults should know is falling to the side. What are some that you think should not be forgotten? I’ll start. If you stay at someone’s house over night (especially if they are feeding you for multiple meals), it’s polite to either bring a small gift or treat them to a meal out. Groceries are expensive and hosting takes prep and clean up time - It’s good to show appreciation. If you are attending an event that has a gift registry (wedding, baby shower, etc) and plan to give a gift make every effort to get a gift from the registry. People put a lot of time and effort on researching what would be most useful to them… get them what THEY want not what YOU want. What would you add to the list?

The closest we come is still just a /s marker or selective use of very basic styles: bold, italics, underline. Why don't we have, say, left-slanting italics for sarcasm? A squiggly font style for, idk, speaking as if personifying an animal? Maybe a gradient style of bolding, or a style with irregular kerning. Are different font styles other than the THREE defaults really so difficult to create, disseminate, and standardize?ETA: in response to the first few replies, okay sure, I get that emojis do the same thing. But why? Why only three standard font styles?Edit #2: Wow, didn't anticipate this to be taken as such a dumb question - I've seen similar questions asked for decades (people REALLY seem to want a better way to convey sarcasm in particular). I understand all of the comments and agree with most of the reasoning... to a point. Yes, we've collectively figured out work-arounds, like tHiS AwFuL tHiNg, or meaningful use of italics, exclamation marks and punctuation, etc. What I'm really wondering is: Why did we stick with 3 font styles? Why aren't there more? Is it technically difficult? Were there originally more than three but some fell into disuse? Even the standard three don't have specific, universally-agreed-upon implications other than emphasis.

After watching both of these documentaries it's so eerieing the similarities of these two cases.To start off: Both Gabby and Shannan had the same similarities of posting the "happy life" to social media. The families are also similar as well.With Chris Watts his family was the same narcissistic way as their son. Especially the mother. Blaming Shannan for everything. With Gabby, Brian’s mom is also narcissistic. In the same aspect as Brian. Both sons were narcissistic same as their mothers. The body cams/story. In both body cams both Brian and Chris have that same smiley expression. They also both blamed the other party on wrong doing. Brian convinced the cops that Gabby was also being the aggressor. With Chris during the start he blamed Shannan stating they were fighting and she could of left with the kids. Also made the story convincing by her "leaving the ring behind." During the interrogation Chris also claimed Shannan was choking one of the daughters and that's what "made him" kill Shannan.I just wanted to state this information because I started noticing the similarities when I saw the Brian body cam happened on August 12 2021. Chris murdered his family August 13 2018. If there is anything else that is worth sharing please comment below! I'm sure there is a lot more similarities than my findings!

Cameras distort your face because they are made to capture in wide angles. Phone cameras are generally in the 24mm focal length. But our eyes have a focal length of about 50 to 85mm.So how do you look like? Take a mirror pic 5 to 6 feet away from the mirror with 2 to 2.5 x times the zoom. Check the details of the photo, in the EXIF data there will be equivalent focal length given if it's between 50 to 85mm you've got a pic of how people really perceive you more or less.Why YSK: because the amount of people who get their nose reconstructed just cuz it looks big in the photos would baffle you. Having this knowledge and sharing it would do some people good. :)
