ELI5 :What makes a sawed off shotgun so bad it is illegal?

I understand that sawing off the barrel of a shotgun is illegal. Never understood they Why behind that. Does it make the gun more dangerous? Something else?It seems like one can purchase short barrels, so why can't I do something like that to my own shotgun(s)?

If cats are obligate carnivores, why do we feed them rice and peas(among other non-meat things)?To my knowledge, while dogs can have some carbohydrates, a cats liver and pancreas will be overly stressed dealing with carbs. They need to eat meat and exclusively meat to survive and be healthy. So why do I find so many different cat foods with things other than meat or fish? Is it filler?

Different household detection for different TVs

So I don't really get how this works but this is the situation we are in, we share an account with my wife's sister, and we have two TVs, one in our bedroom and one in our living room. Recently our TVs have been hit with the "not part of the household" thing, as the household is set with my wife's sister. But for the bedroom TV, it resolved itself and is now working like usual, but our living room TV is still being shown as not part of the household, with no option to watch temporarily via a code. So how can it work for one tv but not the other, in the same home?

Eli5: How / why do people with rabies become scared of water?

I know a symptom of rabies is Hydrophobia, but I’m so curious as to how and why the virus can do that. And I don’t know even mean unable to drink water - I mean those visceral & terrified reactions to even being offered water. How could a virus make you afraid of water?

I’m currently watching The Platform 2 on Netflix and I'm hooked. The concept is similar to the first film. This is a great scifi horror film of 2024, it showcases the dark side of human greed. I love the idea of incorporating food distribution into horror films it's really a brilliant concept. 8/10

I found a way to bypass the Netflix household restrictions without any VPNS or complicated methods

I checked online to see how people dealt with the sharing ban and I found that no one had used the method i have been using for a long while now.It requires no vpn or anything all u need to do is request a code from the owner once to get acess in, ( u dont have to do this again) once u have done that all u have to do is turn on auto download movies / series for u so the next time u want to watch Netflix just open the app and you will see auto downloaded shows and movies the u click on search or home and turn on your internet and u have netflix without any fancy vpn or complicated method.Also if the shows expire all u have to do is have ur internet on while netflix is closed and it will automatically download more shows u can use to get in netflix.I looked everywere to see if other people had found this method but all i found were people advertising vpns to help do it

Why YSK: Because it's important to know when your data you want to delete isn't actually deleted.To be clear I mean permanently deleting your account where Reddit asks you to retype in your credentials to make sure you want to delete it.I've deleted a few accounts over the years. And when I log back into Reddit with my email, all my previously "deleted" accounts are listed for me to sign into.

I Used To Be Funny movie

So for those of you who have seen “I Used To Be Funny”, I have a question.At one point in the film the little girl’s aunt tells Sam that she (the aunt) should’ve seen the signs that the little girl’s father was a rapist/inappropriate with Sam. I completely missed any signs or red flags during the movie. Can someone fill me in? What were they? Guess I missed them too.

What do you think about the season 3 of heartstopper

I am onto the 3rd episode right now and I feel like not completing the series. I binge watched Season 1 and 2 but this season does not feel the same. I get that this season is highlighting the eating disorder part and so it is in more serious tone. But I was expecting a whole hearted feel good show, so this season might not be for me right now. Maybe I will visit it later when I am in mood to watch something serious.Do let me know if the tone of show is like that throughout the season or it changes.
