If someone on my account watches a show on their own profile, it shows the progress bar on my profile and every profile on my account. It sucks because I have someone in my house who binges everything, so almost every show I go to watch is already watched so it's hard to track my place.Is this a standard feature to share the progress bar between every profile, or is this a bug?

ELI5 how the intestines can push out gas against gravity.

I get that the intestines are like a long tube which digests food, absorbing nutrients and squeezing out waste as poop and farts. I also understand that they are a big loop, which goes up and around in a circle, before going out.I don't understand how it can push gas out against gravity. The reason: when I think of the central heating loop in my house, all air rises to the highest (or locally highest) part of the system, even though there is a pump, which keeps the water moving. Why doesn't all gas rise to the top of our intestines and stay there? When poo is being pushed out, do our intestines also push the gas along with it? Is there a pressure difference which forces it out?I know that my analogy must be wrong, but I'm wondering what I'm missing.

The Recruit vs Night Agent

For once, Netflix is cooking and gave us two shows with tremendous potential to grow. But given that these shows have always released their seasons close to each other, it hard not to compare them. Especially that they are both spy/political shows. Which do you prefer? The Recruit or Night Agent. I am leaning more toward The Recruit but I am not done with Night Agent season 2 yet so jury still out.

Why YSK: I saw this post https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/s/nH850tUsu6 and none of the comments mentioned this app at all. It’s super useful and helps reduce food waste. Bakeries are typically enrolled, giving either a dozen donuts or 4-5 pastries for an average of $5. Restaurants are also often enrolled and literally just give you an entree (or a chipotle bowl) for $5. Spread the word! Food waste is a huge problem in America. Participating in things like this can go a long way

Forgotten tom and jerry like show

There was this show on netflix it was like Tom and Jerry, there was no talking but their sound effects and growls and other like emotion sound effects, it followed a young magician and his Rabbit in a blue and yellow stripped shirt and black shorts, the first episode was him audiencing to get into a magic's school in which he trys to pull his rabbit out of his hat but it doesnt want too so he still his carrot and blends it to a juice pissing him off and then its tom and jerry for the rest of the episode until he finally does but him and his rabbit get in, one episode their this new little cat girl that the others try to sway her to date them but she becomes really punk with a whip when she sneezes, if anyone knows what this show is please tell me i would love to watch it again

ELI5 How they make wounds in movies appear to have depth within the skin?

Was just watching No Country for Old Men and saw Chigurh dress up a wound on his leg that seemed pretty realistic, cutting deep into his skin just on his thigh. What intrigued me was its depth that added to the realism. There were also shotgun shell holes below his knee throughout the leg which also seemed deep, oozing with blood. I'm confident there are better examples for this, but how do they do that even with makeup and prosthetics, because they can only add to that skin, not create an illusion of it missing a chunk of flesh, or can they?Marking it as Biology but I feel like Others would be a suitable flair too.

I guess I don’t understand why it matters if the value of your house goes down in the short term if you have no immediate plans to sell? Won’t the value go back up eventually like a stock….so the loss isn’t realized until you sell the asset? I’m sure that sounds very dumb, so please ELI5.

ELI5: Why do orthodontists have to go through so much more schooling than dentists?I understand that orthodontists have different responsibilities from dentists. Orthodontists focus more on aligning teeth while dentists focus more on preventative and restorative care. However a lot of dentists offer orthodontic services too, maybe not braces but they will offer Invisalign and clear aligners instead.After dental school orthodontists go through 1-3 years of residency focused on just straightening teeth. If dentists can offer many of the same services as orthodontists why do orthodontists have to seek so much more training than dentists. I am not going to say that orthodontic treatment seems simple but it seems relatively straightforward from a patient’s point of view, they put brackets and wires on your teeth and you come into the office every now and then for the doctor to check and change out your wires. Majority of the time the orthodontist isn’t even the one placing the brackets and wires on your teeth it is the assistant.I am genuinely curious as to why orthodontists must go through so much more training than general dentists.
