ELI5: How do fish see under muddy water?

Sometimes when you go to a lake or river you can see your feet up to a certain deep. But sometimes you can't even see them under 2 cm of "water" or less. How do fish see things around to avoid bumping into them? Especially when they like lurking at the bottom, near all kinds of objects and especially when they are scaping a predator, for instance. It seems to me that fishes in such places should have evolved like some cave organisms that don't have eyes at all.

I just watched this 4 episode series. I understand the benefits of vegan food. But I couldn’t stop thinking about - Why do I feel like this is a big commercial for vegan foods. I see lot of founders and their brands getting advertised in the show. In the end they lost all the vegan food brands. Is this a vegan brand collab? Anyone else felt like this?

Preview in fast forward not working

Trying to watch RAW from earlier this week and cannot get it to preview while fast forwarding (iPad and FireTV). For a show without ad breaks or pre-announced schedules in broadcast the ability to see where you are is essential. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

ELI5: Why isn't the plastic rounded in a dentist X-ray thingy?

So you go to the dentist right? And they have to take X-rays. They have you bite down on some hard plastic with a small plastic baggie on it. My question is, why tf isn't the plastic rounded so it isn't digging into the soft tissue of your mouth? I feel like it'd make it so much more comfortable!! I just had to take X-rays like 2 hours ago and I still feel the sore parts where piece was digging into my mouth.

is anyone on the AUD$12.99 plan ? I can't find the resolution streamed for this plan anywhere. suspect its only a SD and only realised recently how bad it looks on my 4k TV. But am also concerned about the NBN tier I need if I were to upgrade Netflix plan. I'm only on 25mbps plan.

It seems inevitable that Netflix's next step will be annual subscriptions rather than monthly. Will you sign-up for 12 months at a time? Or will that be your cue to cancel?

Same as Apple TV, Disney Plus etc., we sign up to Netflix for a few months, watch what we want and then cancel.I don't think it'll be long until streamers stop this by having 12 month subscriptions. I think that would be the final straw for me and I'd just cancel them all.

I was just curious at to what the last few pages in the Timeline of Relevant Events mean... There was an article that The New York Times published in December 21, 2024 which Baldoni's team found out had earlier metadata of some stuff in it. What does that imply about this case?
