netflix drm bug on edge
At /r/netflix
when i disable hardware acceleration on edge,"PlayReady Hardware DRM disabled:false" the drm is work。but "Video Acceleration Information"is disableif enable hardware acceleration on edge.the "PlayReady Hardware DRM disabled:true"hardware drm is disable, but "Video Acceleration Information" is workDue to this bug where both cannot work simultaneously, watching Netflix will never have Video Acceleration, no HEVC, and no HDRIf it's the UWP version of Netflix, it's based on the old Edge and doesn't have the DRM bug. However, the current Netflix client has become a PWA based on the new Edge, and this issue cannot be resolved on Windows.

What's Next? The Future with Bill Gates (2024) is a new documentary about AI, climate change, and technology. Love him or hate him we can all agree that Gates is one of the most influential figures in technology. It’s great to see his documentary, just as I enjoy his reading lists.

YSK that the free adjustable bases mattress stores give away have been proven to collapse, causing injury and death
At /r/YouShouldKnow
The 'free adjustable base with mattress purchase' that mattress stores offer isn't the high-end model that you test out in the store. They'll give you a much cheaper base, the most common brand being BedTech. Source: https://youtu.be/Is--2HGjhEA?si=83tS5AFxUVaHTTNKWhy YSK: The brand was sued because their bases are prone to collapse, "posing a crush hazard that can cause severe injury or death."Source: https://www.classaction.org/news/mattress-firms-bed-tech-bed-frames-at-center-of-sham-recall-can-collapse-at-any-time-lawsuit-allegesMake sure you know exactly which brand/model you're getting before you buy.

Officer Black Belt - general question about the premise
At /r/netflix
I thought, based on the description (and Title?!, idfk), I was in for a bit of a buddy comedy. It was that on a much more intense level than i expected, especially given the heavy themes. The basis of the movie - that they're actively tracking parolees movements and behaviors by using ankle monitors - seems pretty outlandish to me as an American. The resources needed for that level of surveillance? Yikes. But with different crime rates, cultures, etc., I'm curious what those who have experience with the S. Korean justice system think. And IMO, it's a fun Friday night flick that was a nice little surprise. It certainly had some gruesome moments, though. For a movie about law enforcement without any guns, it was pretty impressively nauseating using tasers, knives, and miscellaneous.

YSK: A school or university cannot definitively prove AI was used if they only use “AI Detection” software. There is no program that is 100% effective.
At /r/YouShouldKnow
Why YSK: I work in education in an elevated role that works with multiple teachers, teams, admin, technology, and curriculum. I have had multiple meetings with companies such as Turnitin, GPTZero, etc., and none of them provide a 100% reliability in their AI detection process. I’ll explain why in a moment, but what does this mean? It means that a school that only uses AI Detection software to determine AI use will NEVER have enough proof to claim your work is AI generated. On average, there is a 2% false positive rate with these programs. Even Turnitin’s software, which can cost schools thousands of dollars for AI detection, has a 2% false positive rate. Why is this? It’s because these detection software programs use a syntactical approach to their detection. In other words, they look for patterns, word choices, and phrases that are consistent with what LLMs put out, and compare those to the writing that it is analyzing. This means that a person could use a similar writing style to LLMs and be flagged. Non-English speakers are especially susceptible to false positives due to this detection approach. If a school has no other way to prove AI was used other than a report from an AI Detection program, fight it. Straight up. Look up the software they use, find the rate of error, and point out the syntactical system used and argue your case. I’ll be honest though, most of the time, these programs do a pretty good job identifying AI use through syntax. But that rate of error is way too high for it to be the sole approach to combating unethical use. It was enough for me to tell Turnitin, “we will not be paying an additional $6,000 for AI detection.”Thought I would share this info with everyone because I would hate to see a hardworking student get screwed by faulty software. TL;DR: AI detection software, even costly tools like Turnitin, isn’t 100% reliable, with a 2% false positive rate. These programs analyze writing patterns, which can mistakenly flag human work, especially from non-native speakers. Schools relying solely on AI detection to prove AI use are flawed. If accused, students should challenge the results, citing error rates and software limitations. While these tools can often detect AI, the risk of false positives is too high for them to be the only method used.

Monsters : The Menendez Brothers
At /r/netflix
Great show! In awe of how the media whipped the image of the Menendez brothers killing parents for their wealth.Idk where the creators of the show got the idea that the brothers were having sex with each other, that definitely was for shock value if anything.I, however, thought the last episode depicting the 2nd trial was horrible and strayed from attempting to depict what occurred accurately as to what was known. Im just shocked that the verdict is guilty and that Menendez lawyer could have easily poked holes in the evidence presented by the prosecutor considering the burden of proof lies on the state who has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.Numerous examples of flimsy evidence presented by the prosecutor which could have easily been shot down. If I brought this up, this post would be huge, and no one would read it. However, I'm hoping you'll bring up prosecutorial evidence and what rebuttal could be used to discredit the flimsy evidence.Im kind of surprised that during the 2nd trial, even though the Menendez brothers were at a serious disadvantage, the lawyer didn't switch tactics to crime of passion defense. Would this not have applied to this case? And now recently On April 2023, Roy Rosselló, a former member of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, alleged that Erik and Lyle’s father, Jose, sexually assaulted him as a teenager. Menendez brothers lawyers are currently attempting to get the case reopened based on new evidence acquired.I get initially why innocent people are jailed. Numerous reasons. Police under pressure to close the case and racism are two big ones. What I dont get is why when they appeal, the majority of the time the appeals are rejected. I mean, I have read cases where the innocence project has DNA evidence proving it was not that individual, and they face an uphill battle as well with appeals. I think its because judges are just protecting other judges. As in, we as judges don't get shit wrong? Possibly right? Idk, suggestions and theories welcomed.Another great true crime on netflix that i guarantee will shock you is "Making a Murderer."

ELI5: how much does pinky finger amputation change your life
At /r/explainlikeimfive
One of my close friends severed her pinky finger yesterday in a freak accident. The doctors reattached it but there's an issue with the blood flow and it looks like they might have to amputate it again. Obviously we're all devastated for her.I've been trying to figure out how much this will impact her life but I haven't found much besides grip strength decreasing and nerve pain. Is there anything else that might be affected?

ELI5 At what point does elevation “cancel out” closeness to the sun
At /r/explainlikeimfive
The base of a 14k+ mountain is going to be hotter than the top (provided weather patterns are stable). Yet, the heat of the sun is more extreme the closer you are to it (I.e. the higher you are). Obviously that doesn’t mean higher elevation makes a place hotter, but I am curious: how and why? Is there a level of altitude at which the “closeness” to the sun (if a place is indeed very sunny year round) is “canceled out” by the atmospheric impact of that altitude? (I hope this makes sense. I had a tough time explaining it 😂)

watched the show , and I’m still wondering why during a scene, we see Dominick played by Nathan Lane standing alone, talking when there’s no one really there.. were they only in his imagination ? Tho later on, we see him having dinner or lunch with friends so I can’t really tell..Why did the servant felt like staying in for the night if it wasn’t because he was a lonely man ? YSK you can cancel your LA Fitness membership online
At /r/YouShouldKnow
I'm not sure when exactly this was possible, I found out about it recently and was able to cancel my membership on their website very easily. Login to your LA Fitness account in a online and click the personal icon on the upper left. Then you'll be brought to an "Account Summary" page, and next to "Account Summary" words is a 3 bar menu. When you click on that you should see "cancel membership" under "Check-In History".Why YSK: Everyone is probably aware of the original cancelation method of printing a physical paper, filling it out, and needing to bring it to a gym location which is so dumb and very inconvenient (and also purposefully convoluted). Even trying to search online for this was still difficult to find. But the fact that there indeed is an option to cancel your membership online makes this entire process immensely easier. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's sat on an unused LA Fitness membership because the original cancelation process was way too inconvenient. The few times I've actually tried going in person, the worker at the front desk would always say that "the manager will be in soon to handle this" so I just gave up trying.
