Why would you choose not to include English subtitles in The Netherlands ?

I'm trying to watch 355 and can't understand the German parts. I'm not fluent in Dutch yet, but this is the only option I have. There's a huge expat community here. Please fix this. Can't we just have English as an always option?

Why YSK: Reddit is a big fan of people acting in self defense, but did you know that depending on where you are, there are probably a few laws regarding how you can respond in self defense?Most people know that you can’t continue to attack someone who has been incapacitated, but responding disproportionately in the first place can also nullify the argument that it was an action done in defense. For example, if someone is trying to pick a fight with you, a single punch is usually fair game, but if you put on brass knuckles or pull out a knife, that’s no longer gonna be looked at as defensive. Likewise, if you’ve done any sort of martial arts training, that can also come into consideration. If you punch someone in the armpit (major blood vessel) and it causes them to die, a preexisting education in fighting and weak points could bump you from a manslaughter charge to murder.Basically: don’t be a dick. If someone is heckling you, shove them or punch them somewhere you won’t cause serious harm; don’t punch them in the face, break their nose, and knock them out over it. Best case you look wack, worst case you end up in jail for taking things too far.

Why YSK: Lots of folks in their 20s and 30s who casually say, "Why get pregnant when there are so many kids in need?"But that could not be further from the truth. There are WAAAY more prospective parents than kids (especially in developed nations). And you most likely will not end up with a child if you go the adoption route. And fertility is not a guarantee either, especially if you wait too long (I personally was born with birth defects because my parents had me late in life).I'm only 24 and already thinking of every possible avenue to become a parent. I have some fertility issues and will be spending my holidays figuring out fertility stuff, instead of going on a vacation. I am stubborn and determined and persistent. This neuroticism applies to my career (I'm in a stressful career as a med student) as well as my future outside of my career (husband + kids). Because that neuroticism is what it takes to build my future.IF having kids/family is your dream (no less worthy of a dream than pursuing a career or finding a spouse), then you need to be obsessive about it, just like a career.

Question about the trust fund set-up in The Perfect Couple

In The Perfect Couple, the trust fund is set up so that none of the children receive their trusts until the youngest child turns 18. I've never heard of this structure before, so I'm just wondering, is this really a thing? Is it common? Would the trust have really automatically reset because of Merritt's child or could they have legally changed it?

Why do some 4k titles stream in 4k but others don’t?

On my 4k Apple TV I can see what it’s playing in by pressing the down button and some 4k available titles always say HD no matter what but when I check another 4k title it says 4k. For example Love is Blind is always in HD but Stranger things 4k. I do have crappy WiFi (I’m getting 22mbps wired due to my area) but still it’s able to handle some titles in 4k but this one show never ?

No HDR on Windows PC?

Hi guys. Around a week ago I upgraded my Netflix plan to Premium with the idea to watch HDR content on my new OLED monitor. The thing is, whatever I do, there is no HDR on my PC with Windows 11 Pro. It is only working on my TV.I have already contacted Netflix support 3 times with no luck, no one was even close to help. Believe me I have already tried what I could. I installed the HEVC video extensions from the Microsoft store, I have tried with several browsers like Edge, Opera, Firefox and of course Chrome. The weird thing is that it was working on Chrome then it stopped there too and I can't make it work again. There's just no HDR indicator anywhere.I have disabled and enabled the GPU hardware acceliration several times with no luck. I have enabled forced HDR in Edge and it is still not working. I have Auto HDR enabled on Windows and still doesn't make a difference. I am using HDMI 2.1 cable if that matters with a RX 7900 XT if that matters. I have even tried with DP and it is still not working.I am using HDR in games and Youtube content all the time so I know it is working, it is not wokring only on Netflix. I have installed the Desktop App too and it is not workinig there too. I have set the playback settings quality to "High - Best video and audo quality etc". So I was just wondering if there is anything else I could try before downgrading my plan. Any advice would be of help, thanks!

Is there a way to increase font size?

so I have newly terrible vision and watch netflix through samsung smart tvs. is there a hidden accessibility setting menu to make descriptions and menus a larger font? i’m so sick of having to look through my phone camera or my phone app to figure out what episode I’m on or even titles of shows. (this is not a netflix only issue i’m having so any insight is helpful at this point)

Account Sharing for Kids, still works without Extra Member?

I understand with Netflix you have to add an "extra member" to share your account these days but a curious situation has had me doing some research on those details. A friend of mine ex's has "shared" whether it be unofficial or officially their account (it sounds unofficially). Everything was fine up until recently where the "adult" standard profile now states extra member mumbo jumbo where "not in this family" / "are you in vacation" etc. I assume with the extra member stuff, you actually get your own account and you're just attached to theirs. So by this logic the account wasn't an extra member as they are/we're using it under their ex's email.So enough background, the question is, this account even tho it preaches about unknown location, the "Kids" profile still works without issue for their kids.Is this something normal where Netflix doesn't restrict Kids profiles the same or is this more of a fluke?Thanks!

ELI5: Why haven't we dug the Earth full with holes for geothermal energy yet?

Geothermal energy does not seem to be the most popular out of the green energy production methods, however to me it seems to be extremely reliable. The earth's core is hot and it will stay like that for millions of years. it can generate energy 24/7. The weather does not affect its efficiency.
It seems like its problems (low output?) can be solved by just making many geothermal plants.
So why hasn't this been done yet?

YSK: You can save money using low-selfdischarge rechargeable NIMH batterys (that are nowadays about as cheap as non-rechargeable batterys)

Just saw a post here which got deleted that recommended using a battery tester on non-rechargeable AAA batterys to check if all batterys in a multi-battery device are done.
Theres been some backlash telling the OP that its a bad idea, hence the deletion ig.
Heres whats imo a better YSK: Instead of endlessly replacing batterys, just buy some low-selfdischarge rechargable NIMH batterys once.
Regular NIMH are somewhat famous for discharging themselves and being empty when you need them. Hence the empasis on the low-selfdischarge technology, sometimes shortened to LSD in the product description.
Non-LSD NIMH battery can easily lose 50% of their charge within 1 year of sitting idle while on average LSD NIMH lose only about 15% in year one, followed by about 5% each year after that. Panasonic Eneloop are the most famous example of a LSD-NIMH battery and afaik were the first on the market, but are way overpriced nowadays.
Ikea Ladda are the same type, but cost less than half of the Eneloop and often come in a bundle with a charger.
Powerowl brand are also ok, I bought 16 of their AAA batterys a few years ago.
Not a product endorsement/advertisement in any way, there may be even better/cheaper ones out there now, but I've been happy with them. Cost comparison for 16 pieces pack, AAA size:
One-time use Energizer Alkalines 0,69 € / battery
Eneloop 2,36 € / battery
Powerowl 0,74 € / battery
Basically no point buying the non-rechargeable Alkalines with low-selfdischarge rechargeable AAA's being literally just 5 cent more. Charger is 5-10 €.
Literally any NIMH charger will do. Why YSK:
Save money + save the planet. Win/Win. Feel free to mentally replace € signs with $ signs, exchange ratio is almost 1:1 atm.
