Why ysk: most people use Firefox over chrome solely because of privacy and this change in their tos means they can now sell your data just like Google . My advice : switch to librefox(I have already done so myself), it is a privacy focuse fork of Firefox .

It also said:You'll always find something you'll want to watch, keeping you up to date on all the latest trending titles.Am I the only one thinking if they are so confident, why wouldn't they charge me say £3 for every week I actually watched something, or £1 for every day I watched something... I think if this is how the payments would work, I would subscribe to all the platforms there are.

YSK: ublock origin still works in google chrome after update.

Why YSK: So i've been seeing a lot of posts of people saying ublock origin has been removed from their google chrome browser and that is not at all what is happening. Chrome asks if you want to remove it but you can just say no. When chrome gives this message that it wants to remove it you can just click no. Then it wont be removed but still disabled. If you then go to your extensions page you can just activate it again. It will tell you that it is not recommended but you can just say run anyways.

Hey everyone, I need to vent about something wild that just happened. I went to fire up Netflix on my TV last night, only to see my account was signed out. Weird, right? I figured it was a glitch, so I tried logging back in—bam, denied. Okay, no biggie, I’ll reset my password. Except when I tried, Netflix hit me with “no account exists” for my email. This is an account I’ve had for over five years.At this point, I’m thinking, “Oh great, I’ve been hacked.” So I call Netflix support to sort it out. I’m assuming five years of payment history tied to my card, watch history, all that jazz would make it obvious I’m the real owner. The rep I talked to was nice enough—she even admitted she could see the new email on the account looked fraudulent (some random string of letters and numbers). But then she drops the bomb: there’s nothing she can do. Apparently, because the email got changed, I’m locked out for good unless I want the whole account wiped. Years of watchlists, recommendations, and profiles? Gone.Luckily, my Netflix password was unique, so this won’t spiral into other accounts getting compromised. Still, it stings to lose it like that. I’m just baffled they couldn’t verify me with all the data they have—payment records, IP addresses, something! The only option they gave was to nuke the account and start fresh. I get that security protocols exist for a reason, but this feels like punishing the victim instead of the hacker.Has anyone else dealt with this? Did I miss some secret way to reclaim it? Or am I just stuck rebuilding my Netflix life from scratch?

ELI5: How are service dogs trained for conditions that aren’t predictable (like diabetes or fainting)?

If you want a dog to be able to find drugs, you use those scents. If you want them to serve someone who is blind, their person is blind all the time. But how do you teach them to recognize/smell things like an impending fainting episode? Or with something like diabetes, do they have to be around someone with low blood sugars to learn how to detect that? Is there a scent that can be created to help them train? How could you possibly predict (other than maybe by breed propensity) what dog could gain the skills to detect it and then respond in a helpful way?

New netflix interface is awful.

My netflix updated within the past few days and i am trying to look for some standup comedy to watch and as far as I can see there isn’t a categories tab anymore where I can filter by genre. There is only tabs for shows, movies, “my netflix”, and the home tab, which has some categories but its mixed in with other top 10’s and ‘because you watched-s’ in a bulky interface thats terrible to navigate.Am I missing something?

Start live events from the begining

There needs to be a way to start live events from the beging BEFORE you start playback (I know you can click "start from begining" AFTER you start playback of the event) but they need to add the ability to start from the beginning BEFORE you start a currently running event.(I've got Roku stick+ if the option is available on other platforms)

Imagine completely ordinary (regular) day. Sleeping conditions are perfect (room temperature, silence, humidity, darkness, softness and cleanness of the sheets, emptiness of your bladder, your overall health - you name it, everything that has a chance to be not perfect, is perfect). How does your body knows, that you are fully rested after exactly 7h42mins (or 9h56mins, or any amount of time) of sleep and it is time.to rise and shine, iif there is no external factors thst disrupt your sleep? Nothing/noone woke you up - your body did. How and why now?does it differ if you take "15min power nap"?is it the same with the 2h midday nap?is it the same with the kids (my toddler once woke up at 6am Sharp, sat on his bed and said "lets gooo, i dont want to sleep anymore - he usually wakes up at 7am)when you are sleep deprived or after super Hard physical activities (sport, work, yard work, etc)?

Is the script to La Dolce Villa AI generated?

Silly argument, and its not that serious but... is it? I'm no cinephile, I probably couldn't name a single director (well known or otherwise) but what the hell the script is bad. Not just bad, because a bad script isn't uncommon in random movies. It literally sounds like chat-gpt, AI generated nonsense/garbage. It's cheesy, full of generic-sounding fluff/filler dialogue to get that pesky exposition out of the way, full of what stinks like recycled "witty" dialogue, almost like a disney channel kid's TV sitcom, except its a fully serious movie. I'm genuinely curious. Did anyone else watch it? I've long since clicked off, but let me know if this is the vibe you got. It says it came out 2025, so at this point I am fully willing to believe they sent an idea into Chatgpt and gave the actors the cheesiest, most generic-sounding lines ever known. It literally sounds like generic garbage.

Why did Suits get so much more hype than White Collar?

Maybe this is a popular take I wasn’t aware of, but I started watching Suits 1-2 years ago when it seemed like everyone was talking about it. I just finished season 1 of White Collar, and all the character dynamics are basically the same: the genius criminal (Neal and Mike), the experienced mentor (Peter and Harvey), the quirky ally (Moz and Louis), and the smart woman behind the scenes keeping everyone levelheaded (Elizabeth and Donna). Then I looked and White Collar came out 2 years before Suits. I don’t know how popular the shows were when they first aired, but Suits was in the Netflix top 10 for weeks and I just happened to see White Collar one day while scrolling through shows.

ELI5 why when you wash fatty dishes, the fat rubs off on plastics but not on metal?

Here's the situation: I'm washing dishes with a dish sponge and liquid detergent. I pick up the frying pan, which has some oil residue in it. I wash it, and now the sponge has got lots of fat trapped in the detergent.Here's the thing - if I just wash metal dishes after the pan, they get washed just fine. But if I wash anything made of any plastic, the plastic gets coated with a layer of fat no matter what I do. I need to rinse the sponge and use fresh detergent in order to get the plastic clean.Why? Why doesn't the fat rub off on metal, only on plastic?

I remember that for their first many years, Uber was losing a lot of money. But most people "knew" it'd be a great business someday.A week ago I heard on the Verge podcast that Uber is now profitable.What changed? I use their rides every six months or so. And stopped ordering Uber Eats because it got too expensive (probably a clue?). So I haven't seen any change first hand. What big shift happened that now makes it a profitable company?Thanks!
