ELI5, why does gore, specifically of humans, engrave into the mind?

How does it work? I know it's called PTSD or being traumatized, but how and why?It's just... My brain can just not process gore on humans. It engraves into the mind. You can't think about anything else for a long time.You see roadkill and you don't have the same reaction, just sad for a moment. You'll probably forget the next day.I could never get a simple response that wasn't complex and hard to understand. Why can't your brain process it? It can handle about any other animal? Please help me out here and don't be rude. Thanks.

The AI dubbing is just painful

I was watching a legal Kdrama today "Beyond the Bar" and the AI dubbing is just brutal to listen to, I'm not sure who thought this was a good idea, but it effectively destroys what seems to be a pretty decent show. The inflection is flat, everything sounds artificial, and it's just difficult to enjoy.

Ok I know this has been discussed, but I just watched this documentary and have the same reaction as everyone else. I had never heard of her but I've witnessed grooming. But everything online is from April. So I did a search just in the past month and lo and behold! Here's teen vogue making her whole life just cool superstardom, and oh by the way concerns about child exploitation are just haters hurting her feelings. Oh and look praising turning 18 so you can look sexualized on camera and it not illegal! After that whole documentary, pop culture is continuing to tell little girls to look up to this. ELI5: How do restaurant chains all have the same wifi signature?

Not sure about everywhere, but when I got to a McDonald's in the US my phone automatically* connects to the wifi regardless of if I've been to the restaurant before (*it still prompts me to agree to the TOS, but it's not like "add a new network"). I noticed the same for Chuck E Cheese and Taco Bell, and happened just this weekend when I went to a Quality Inn that I've never been to before, but I have stayed at other Quality Inn hotel chains before. I don't know much about wifi, but I thought the signature was unique to the router.

I have actually been unable to get this one song out of my head. They have used it at the start of all the three episodes. Look, I hate violence (unless it’s movies or video games). Especially against kids. Makes my blood boil. If I was king, people who hurt/kill people especially kids, would be dealt with quick and in a brutal way. I know that’s an oxymoron, but it’s how I feel. But with all that said, love Netflix documentaries and we should be getting three great ones relatively soon. It’s sad they have be made at all, and I wish we lived in a world where these didn’t need to be filmed but I know they are coming: A documentary about Charlie Kirk’s life A documentary about Charlie Kirk’s assassin (real deep dive) A documentary about Jake and Rebecca Haro (this is the one I’m probably looking forward to the most)

Unwanted Marketing Emails

Does Netflix send you guys unwanted emails you can't unsubscribe from? I recently started getting ads for fights that I'm not interested in sent to my email. I tried to unsubscribe but there was no button. Also, my settings show that I have all unnecessary emails turned off. I am very deliberate with the services I sign up for with my email addresses and I will probably have all Netflix emails sent to my spam folder via rules. Love Con Revenge is honestly the most amateur, misleading, defamatory, insulting to our intelligence "documentary" I've ever watched.

I honestly don't know where to start with this. The primary host is presented as some expert — even speaking about psychology she clearly has no understanding of — when in reality she's just someone who fell for a scam. The private investigator? She doesn't seem to understand the law at all, calls up people and says "I'm investigating this person" with zero clue if the recipient of the call is friends with the target (which could expose her), and tails cars by following them in U-turns, parking lots, etc while wondering "Do you think he spotted us?"Several guys on the show are clearly unpredictable criminals. Which also makes it nuts that they're taking these women to confront them face to face when they should be calling the police. They tracked a guy who was a fugitive from justice, and instead of calling the cops, they went to yell at him (tipping their hand and potentially giving the target time to flee). Even worse? It's the misleading crap and leaving information out. Throughout the series, the show presents claims that are in no way verified. It's like they took every "case" that came their way, and when stuff started to look sus, they kept going and just left out info. For instance, another Redditor looked up the clinic from the Dr. Wilkerson episode and discovered that the victim was heavily involved in the practice — with many of the complaints over the years specifically mentioning her behavior. And while we're on that episode, the "victim" dropped her civil suit? And she's facing charges for filing a false police report? And even though there's a claim that the guy opened fake accounts in the daughter's name (a clear crime that would result in arrest), there's been no charges filed? And Netflix didn't feel like showing us evidence of those alleged fraudulent accounts? Even worse, the "after story" text at the end of the episode was up for mere seconds. I'm not into conspiracies, but it's almost like they didn't want us to read the additional info that cast doubt onto the entire story. Leading up to the Dr Wilkerson episode, I was already a little irked by the show. Even when it was established that there was no evidence of crimes, the hosts would say things like "At least he's been exposed." Been exposed about what? That an ex partner is saying negative stuff about them? Stuff you completely didn't prove, not even enough to support a civil lawsuit (which isn't a high evidentiary standard)?But yeah, the episode with the doctor is going to be it for me. By marrying his "victim," he ensured that any debt would be his responsibility too. Great con artist, right? The episode clearly left out all information that showed the "victim" might be lying. And while earlier episodes clearly showcased real con artists, the way in which they were handled was dangerous, amateur, and is very likely to result in defamation lawsuits against Netflix. This show idea was great, but the execution is absolutely pathetic. Did these two ladies just go out filming stuff on their own and then show up to Netflix like, "You should show this"? The "private investigator" is essentially using Google and hiring others to find info for her, and Cecilie Fjellhøy's only place in the show should be in a "this is what happened to me" role rather than speaking as if she's a subject matter expert (she's clearly not). Even worse, they're pushing unverified claims that will ruin people even if they end up not being true. And by the way, repeatedly badmouthing the police is not a smart way to ensure the police keep discussing cases with you in future seasons. This is worse than amateur hour. It's amateurs manufacturing anger for ratings — because they know a large portion of folks won't care about pesky little things like a lack of facts while treating real scam incidents and jilted ex scenarios as if they're equivalent. Netflix, do better.

One thing I never understood is the hate towards Meena from sing like some of y’all were just over the top and that’s an understatement. She’s literally a good singer she just needed confidence in the first movie. And honestly there was no absolute reason to hate on Meena at all.

A light hearted not so long show to binge?

Ive seen a LOT of shows ok? But currently I'm not in the mood at all to watch a breaking bad type. Or better call saul. But it doesn't have to be that light hearted, as long as it has good writing, and not traumatizing like baby reindeer or Orange is the new black then I'll take it.Shows I've seen: The good place (I want something like this, even tho it was 4 seasons, it was so well written and i loved the lightness of it.) Orange is the new black (its a good show but i 100% regret watching it. It was way too dark for me. I still get flashbacks to it like it was traumatizing)MO (haha funny) Sex education (fun, later seasons a bit ass) The end of the fucking world (loved it) One day (😐) You (i have no idea how to feel about this show. Unknown person’s card on our Netflix account twice in two months.

Good day all. I’m looking for some advice. Back in June we lost access to our Netflix account and we found out that someone had hijiacked our account. We changed the email to our account and password and apparently the next month someone gained access to our account again and added a credit card that was not ours. That card was charged for service in July and August. This month we had a notice to update our card because it was being declined. When we checked before updating it we found that the card was not ours. We were never notified that any changes had happened to our account either time. We called Netflix who offered that we could again change our email and password as a fix again but offered no insight into how this happened again nor how they can guarantee that it will not happen again or if our own information was secure. The first email was mine, the second was my husbands and has never been compromised nor have we ever shared our Netflix account info with anyone or used it anywhere but our home. We have no issues with any other service that we use. We are looking to get answers for our privacy concerns as the customer service representative was unable to provide any other info or a pathway to figure out what happened. Twice in 2 months is concerning. Until our concerns are addressed we have canceled our account. Can anyone provide somewhere for us to get some answers or file a formal complaint regarding the lack of security at Netflix? Thank you in advance.

ELI5 Decibels, I’m very confused.

As I understand it, the scale is logarithmic, so 60 decibels is ten times as intense as 50 decibels, but 60 decibels doesn’t feel like it’s 10 times louder than 50. I get especially confused when it comes to the examples. One source says a daisy Red Ryder BB gun is 97 decibels, which cannot be true. I’ve got like 3 of them and they don’t cause any ear strain whatsoever, which from my understanding, 97 decibels would cause your ears to ring a little bit. How the hell is something that is ten times as intense not sound ten times as loud? Is it something to do with the way the human brain processes sound? If I were to be punched in the arm at a set amount of force and speed, and then I was punched in the same spot (ignoring bruising and soreness) at exactly ten times the force, it would feel like I was hit ten times as hard, so how come a sound 10 times as intense only sounds twice as loud? I don’t get it.
