ELI5: My dad has a pacemaker. If he dies and it’s still working, how do they decide he’s dead?

Let’s assume he dies at home. His wife talks to him and no response. His heart is still beating, maybe he’s still breathing? He’s still warm? His brain waves have stopped? He jokes with me about how his heart will outlive him, I’m curious, what will this be like?

Maybe it turns out to be nostalgia bait, but that’s not something I will hold against it before it’s released.I am also curious how Netflix handles regular live programming for the first time with the WWE.What about you?

ELI5: Why did WW2 fighter aircraft have their wings sweep forward (straight leading, swept trailing)? I understand why supersonic/transonic planes follow a backwards sweep design.

Example of said forward sweep: Ki-43I kiiinda understand that sweeping a wing back helps dealing with the added drag from transonic/supersonic effects.I don't understand though what advantages doing this kind of straight leading edge, swept trailing edge that sweeps "forward" achieves though.

Student who uses family’s account

I’m a student who lives away from home and I use my family’s netflix account. Netlfix usually doesn’t recognize the IP of my student living as my household and I would normally use the “im traveling” option but recently that option disappeared for me and now I cannot use the app. Is there any workaround for this? The platform just feels very anti-family.

Why YSK: Many, many things common around the holidays can be dangerous or even deadly to your pets. Make sure you’re doing your research to keep them safe! Here are some examples - Tinsel and ribbons can cause linear foreign bodies. Linear foreign bodies can cause the intestines to bunch up (think of a hoodie string) and eventually saw through them. This is an absolute emergency and a foreign body surgery in my area typically costs $5-10k. The only other (humane) option is euthanasia. - Grapes and raisins are extremely toxic to dogs and cause acute kidney failure. Even one or two can be deadly. - Fatty foods can cause pancreatitis in dogs, which can require hospitalization to treat- Cooked bones, especially bird bones, can cause GI blockages, perforate the intestines, and break teeth. - Flowers can be extremely toxic to cats, make sure you’re checking that your flowers are pet safe.This is not a complete list. Please be careful and keep your pets safe this holiday season!

If you see an article in one of these publications and can't access it, just search the headline in the MSN search bar and find the article on MSN in the search results… just be sure to click the result that says "ON MSN" and not the result from the news publisher's website directly.I know I sound like a time traveler shill trying to promote default homepages on Internet Explorer in 1995 but it's pretty great (and I promise I have no personal, business, or financial ties to Microsoft or MSN)!(Note: They don't publish news from every single news outlet ever and not every paywalled news outlet is part of MSN.)

Watching the episode of Bob’s Burgers where Bob is taxi driving and makes friends with some trans prostitutes but the whole episode they’re referred to as transvestites.Was there a reason that term fell out of use and do you know when that happened (obviously fairly recently, since it was on the show still). Edit: I have already learned a lot!Edit 2: I’ve learned a lot, but my question still remains because there’s a particular line when one of the prostitutes refers to getting their penis cut off, implying some degree of sex change.I’m assuming (so far) that it seems maybe the show was using the term inaccurately but still learning!

Humans have progressed a lot since the Industrial Revolution, so much so that we can SPLIT AN ATOM to create a huge amount of energy. How do we harness that energy? We still just boil water with it. Is water really that efficient at making power? I understand why dams and steam engines were effective, but it seems primitive when it comes to nuclear power plants.
