On Hyperliquid (Personal Thoughts)
HL listed it due to community request back in 30th Jan, and at its peak the market cap was approx 270M FDV. Since then, Jelly has died quite a fair bit, eventually to approx 3M FDV (as all Sol coins do after people max extract). HL forced settled the position at a favorable price to protect HLP users.
Auto-deleveraging has also been communicated and written in the docs from 10 months ago.
Some pointers
- Agreed with Jordi here that OI % of token supply should have been hardcapped about listing
- HL team has announced that affected participants will be refunded. Compare this to Binance, where it led to a forced buyback (also want to remind you here that their employee recently got fired for insider trading - seems like a great time to direct attention away)
- Quorum (8/16) was settled within 2 mins with mainnet validators, agreeing to delist Jelly.
- With this particular incident, you can observe that Binance (Heyi's tweet), and OKX are openly against HL. Let's not forget, incidents like this has happened on CEXes too, see "Regarding the forced Liquidation Incident on Jul 31, 2018 on OKX" and OKEx confirms $9M Clawback after "Enormous" Bitcoin Future Fails.
- Bitget's Gracy Chen (tier 9 exchange), also shoots her shot, commenting about FTX, not surprising seeing how Jeff called Bitget out 2 years ago for being the next FTX
If anything, this goes to show how much of a threat CEXes like Binance and OKX are seeing Hyperliquid, though being completely objective, there should have been a hardcapped at listing, and HLP could definitely do better.
HLP =/= Hyperliquid though, there is a common misunderstanding that the HLP is the sole market maker on Hyperliquid. That's completely false as there are many MMs currently on HyperCore quoting and providing liquidity. HLP initiallised a great start but is not the entire backbone of Hyperliquid, with other features being developed and the entire ecosystem on HyperEVM.
Conclusion
I trust Jeff and the team to execute. Having met them in person, I’ve seen firsthand how they built one of the best products in the space - without raising a single dollar from investors. Instead of wasting money on marketing gimmicks or flashy events, they focus on innovation, continuously shipping new features, listening to the community, and delivering real value. I have sold 0 HYPE and have only ever added to the position.
Of everything in the space, Hyperliquid and its team gives me some hope to stay in crypto. Have no other reason otherwise.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

Absolutely wild story. Josh Mandell predicted Bitcoin would hit $84K on March 14th, 2025, 130 days ago.
Conspiracy? Plain luck? Market Manipulation? People just trying to find pattern in things and reason for a bull market?
No one knows. It’s reminiscent of those old 4chan shitposts with eerily accurate market predictions (broken clock is right twice a day), except this time, what makes it interesting is his background.
The Backstory
On Nov 5th, 130 days ago, Josh Mandell predicted that Bitcoin would be at 84K on 14th March 2025.
Who is Josh Mandell?
Josh is a retired Wall Street trader, worked at Salomon Brothers, and was most recently s a Trader at Caxton Associates, a $12 Billion AUM Hedge Fund.
Man traded up 2.1M to 22M just this past year (can see his public trades)
Probability of prediction happening
According to ChatGPT: the probability of correctly predicting Bitcoin’s price within ±$50, 130 days in advance is:
Less than 0.0001% (~1 in a million), effectively zero for practical purposes.
What's next according to Josh?
If BTC
1) Close between 80-84k, run up to 100k.
2) Close at 84K exact, run the table (bullish)

In Josh's tweet, the prediction in the form of a poem calls for “360 more … A trio of fours, times a grand”, with some thinking it is likely referencing a move from $84K to around $444K (three fours, times $1,000), and the top forecast for Bitcoin in this cycle.

1) Long 20 mil worth of link on Hyperliquid
2) Short 20 mil worth of link on Binance
3) Is delta neutral but gets to freeroll a liquidation on Hyperliquid, paying 1% penalty

TLDR: Hyperliquid and HLP functioned as it was designed to.
HLP is not, has never been, and will never be, risk-free.
You provide liquidity, betting that the house (always) wins, on top of that, earning some platform fees.
There are times where the vault incurs losses, in this case, was like a month of gains.
There were previous times that i rmb seeing the vault with negative pnl too, in the early days but it averages up over time.
