Since the RBI gave the green light for Peer to Peer lending, more than 30 startups have joined the P2P facilitator market. Due to the massive interest in P2P lending, the RBI has decided to lay down some regulations that will benefit the lenders and buyers, and will decrease fraud and cheating in the growing market.

In India, the consumer protection laws are based on a concept called 'Caveat Emptor'.
