📢 🇴🇲 🇾🇪 Oman Foreign Minister:
🔶️ "We are deeply concerned by US / U.K. attack on targets in Yemen. This goes against our advice and will only add fuel to an extremely dangerous situation."
🇸🇾🤝🇾🇪 — 🇸🇾 SSNP: The American-British aggression against Yemen demonstrated the arrogance and arrogance of the colonial powers and their sponsorship of Zionist terrorism.
➡️ The Syrian Social Nationalist Party condemned the American-British aggression against Yemen, considering that this aggression proves the arrogance, arrogance, sponsorship, and support of the colonial powers against the Zionist enemy, which is waging a genocidal war against our people in Palestine.
➡️ The party saw, in a statement issued by the Dean of Media, Maan Hamiyah, that the American-British aggression against Yemen reveals to the public the involvement of the United States of America, England and their allies in managing and sponsoring the genocidal war waged by the Zionist enemy against our people in Gaza and all of Palestine, and this war of genocide has bloodied hearts with its brutality.
➡️ The peoples of the world came out with massive demonstrations that filled the capitals of the West and the East, condemning and denouncing the Zionist crimes, and prompted the country of South Africa, which experienced the scourge of racism, to file a complaint before the International Court of Justice against the Zionist usurping entity.
➡️ The SSNP stressed that the Yemeni measures taken in the Bab al-Mandab Strait against ships transporting weapons and all forms of support for the Zionist enemy are legitimate measures and do not conflict with international law, while Western countries, led by the United States, ignore international and humanitarian law.

📎 RPK Report
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, made another controversial statement today:
“I would like the presentation of some facts if there is any document from any international organization considered authoritative in Yerevan. For example, the UN or any other organization. If there is any document or statement indicating that such ethnic cleansing occurred, please provide us with links to that document.”
European Parliament, but she acknowledged such a document long ago (October 5, 2023), where ethnic cleansings in Artsakh were recognized.
With over 100,000 ethnic Armenians forced to flee the enclave since the latest offensive, MEPs state that the current situation amounts to ethnic cleansing and strongly condemn threats and violence committed by Azerbaijani troops against the Armenian inhabitants of Nagorno-Karabakh.
French FM Catherine Colonna qualified Azerbaijan's actions in Nagorno-Karabakh as ethnic cleansing.

A sub-Saharan African nation has been declared malaria-free for the first time in 50 years.
Cape Verde was given the status by the World Health Organization (WHO) as it has not reported a single case of local transmission in three years.
Experts have described this as a major achievement.
Malaria is a huge killer on the continent. In 2022, 580,000 people in Africa died from the disease, amounting to 95% of fatalities worldwide.
The disease is caused by a complex parasite which is spread by mosquito bites.
"This success reflects the hard work and dedication of countless health professionals, collaborators, communities and international partners. It is a testimony to what can be achieved through collective commitment to improving public health," Cape Verde's Health Minister said.

🇳🇬 Nigeria's Central Bank sacks board of three banks
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed the boards and management of Keystone, Polaris and Union Banks this week due to a lack of compliance with banking regulations as well as corporate governance failures.
The CBN has appointed new management teams to take over at all three private banks.
This move was triggered by a report and set of recommendations from a special investigator hired by President Bola Tinubu to look into the CBN. This prompted the changes at the banks as they are regulated by the CBN.
Nothing is expected to change for people with deposit accounts at these banks as they have not been liquidated or declared insolvent.

🇰🇪🇺🇬 Kenyan ex-minister held in Uganda over alleged gold scam
Ugandan authorities are holding Kenya's former Assistant Minister for Internal Security Stephen Tarus on allegations of smuggling gold into the country using forged documents.
Tarus was arrested last week and arraigned before a Ugandan anti-corruption court on Wednesday for falsification of export documents, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) said.
The illegal trade documentation led to substantial financial losses to the Ugandan government, the URA added.
He was charged with forgery of export documents for 13kg of gold worth $30,000 (£24,000).
The gold was destined for Dubai in a suspected smuggling ring, according to the URA.
Tarus was remanded at Luzira prison until 18 January, pending further investigations into the incident.

🔶️ Texas state officials this week abruptly blocked federal U.S. Border Patrol agents from entering and patrolling a public area in the border town of Eagle Pass where they typically first encounter migrants who cross the Rio Grande illegally, two U.S. officials told CBS News on Thursday.
🔶️ After seizing control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas National Guard units deployed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott have prevented Border Patrol agents from entering the area, the federal officials said. Border Patrol has used the park in recent weeks to hold migrants in an outdoor staging area before they are transported for further processing, including last month, when illegal crossings soared to record levels.
🔶️ Earlier Thursday, Texas state officials prevented Border Patrol boats from patrolling that area, one of the officials added, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.
🔶️ Michael Perry, a spokesperson for the Texas Military Department, which oversees the state National Guard, said the actions taken by the state were designed to prevent illegal crossings by migrants.
🔶️ In a statement Friday regarding the events in Eagle Pass, White House spokesperson Angelo Fernández Hernández said Texas was seeking to "politicize the border."

🇷🇼 Rwanda court acquits former teacher of genocide charges
A high court in Rwanda has acquitted a former teacher who had been accused of committing crimes against humanity during the 1994 genocide.
Wenceslas Twagirayezu was alleged to have played a role in the killings of thousands of Tutsis in the present-day Rubavu District.
The High Court Chamber of International and Transnational Crimes freed Mr Twagirayezu after several witness testimonies placed him in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo during the time he is alleged to have orchestrated the killings.
The 56-year-old had been extradited from Denmark in 2018 at the request of Rwandan authorities.
The prosecution, which was pushing for a life sentence, has said it was not satisfied with the ruling and would appeal against it.
