Hmm, I guess the validators still have access to the transactions so they can run their own MEV strategies. But I doubt any data would be available on that.
Читать полностью…Gm Lobs, does anyone know of a chart/data for Solana MEV and fee revenue vs. staking rewards?
Читать полностью…(apparently companies can and do retire stocks, making them effectively “burned” - i.e. ineligible for dividends and voting. So I stand corrected, no need to physically light certificates on fire. Fortunately)
Читать полностью…The gambling-like nature of crypto trading contradicts Islamic finance, which is why @Caizcoin_official offers a stable alternative.
Читать полностью…It exists, buyback currently used as a more tax efficient way to distribute value to equity holders.
Most of the companies don't "burn" - liquidate treasury stocks cause it is operationally costsly - you need to update the legal docs and communicate that to the exchanges and registry, so it just simpler to distribute later on stock based compensations
I mean yeah, tokens != stocks. Didn’t think that needed to be explicitly stated.
Читать полностью…I think if you’re going to point to a nuance to invalidate a comparison, you should make a case for why it meaningfully changes the argument.
Читать полностью…That’s stock buybacks which is different from what buyback and burn is being used for in crypto - which is just an abstracted dividend because regulations in most places, SEC included, don’t allow you to distribute protocol revenue to token holders directly. Buyback and burn does not exist in boomer stonks because they can just pay dividends.

Читать полностью…I thought Solana has no mempool, so where is MEV even coming from?
Читать полностью…Share buybacks, sure. But how do you burn stocks? Have them issue the certificates and light them on fire?
Читать полностью…@BackTheBunny has quite a different PoV on this. He has written a great deal on this.
Читать полностью…It is not correct. By several research papers on governance factor in the prices of common stocks it is estimated at around 7% premium for the vote.
Читать полностью…the part I don't like about buyback and burn is because it benefits traders instead of stakers
Читать полностью…A share is partial ownership to a company and all its assets. Legally, there are more rights attached to a share than 'just' dividend or vote; your comparison falls short. Even shares that do not grant voting but only financial rights (a common type) usually have other rights attached to it.
Читать полностью…according to warren buffett, buy back and burn is good when the price is too low. should be as simple as that imho.
Читать полностью…The conclusion is correct in that it's better to retain profits, but the rationale here makes no sense. Literally all any share in a company is, is a vote that also produces dividends. If a share doesn't produce dividends, it's just a vote. A good example of such a share would be Amazon stock for the vast majority of its lifespan.
Besides, value is subjective and price is an objective reflection of the aggregate subjective value sentiment of the market. If there are buy orders for an asset then that means that someone considers the asset valuable. If you do buyback-and-burn then the buybacks are filled from the sell orders (or sell-side liquidity in general), inducing price discovery. That's it, that's all.
The reason you should retain profits is that distributing dividends is equivalent to an admission that you cannot reinvest those profits into your project to achieve above market avg (e.g. index) growth. That'd be a pretty shitty thing to admit since it means that those making the decision to distribute dividends (i.e. protocol leadership) believe that the growth of the protocol has plateaued and the incremental benefit of investing dollars into its growth cannot match that of other investment opportunities.
So yeah, retain profits and don't do buy-back-and burn or other dividend-like activities (if you believe in what you're doing). But it has nothing to do with value and everything to do with growth potential.
I thought of him as a larper but bro was the CTO of coinbase, insane
