Hello Lobs, some exciting stuff to share about a new product

The t+cs just make it unattractive. Not being able to sell or tx the tokens has put a lot of people off. It's also just a boring DAO governance token. Same old same old.

There will likely be a vote to enable movement and trades but at this moment in time it's neither here nor there. Even the proles are reading the small print now.

I’d like to add some seem-to-be-abstract but in fact practical point: IT sec is a culture in a classic enterprise.
It is complex. It is to make potential malicious insider to think that he cannot escape detection and prosecution (even if it is not true). This is a real goal of IT sec culture. Because any amount of internal security won’t be enough against insider.

Guys, can you suggest networks where you can pay for gas with stablecoins?
(ZkSync allows it, but the ecosystem is quite toxic there, so I’d like to check out some other networks with this feature)

Ps
Gnosis is an option. But I prefer using L2 over a sidechain for Gnosis.

1. No. Formal verification is one tool of many. It's good at some things, bad at others. It works well when used in combination with fuzz testing, but there's way more to security than just doing formal verification (or indeed any one kind of security task).
2. Yes, there are open source tools, but it's a relatively steep learning curve. Formal verification is used outside of web3 a lot. It's expensive here because it's a smaller niche and needs custom tools/expertise.

What do you mean by "status"? There are a lot of different tools and projects for evm formal verification, but not sure what the question is asking here to give a decent answer.

Can't trust these smart contract devs.

I wonder what Stani and other's protocol is for transferring ownership of contracts once they are deployed.

I know this had multi-sig ownership lost so maybe not exactly right, but I've dealt with a similar thing.

Seriously? Improve security sure. But do you know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of audits just went down the drain? It was a PK leak

I really hope alot work will be done in this direction. Crypto really needs it at this point, I mean technically wherever the hackers are there should be enough collaborations in place that once tracing is done (which is doable by the best pros), local law enforcement have the green light and pressure to move in. Hackers need to be more afraid to steal, right now they're simply not since they know its hard to get to them even if people know who they are.

This is our biggest issue now, and yeah North Korea is obviously hard but who knows, there is a limit for everything and in the end the money is stolen from somewhere. If crypto is going to adopt globally there have to be more collaborations with law enforcement, its a must at this stage. The hacks are just getting more and more, and its quite big amounts. Singapore, Hongkong, Vietnam are also very big jurisdictions for hacker where they have gotten away too many times.

Im not sure what can be done though, this is way out of my scope. Most disappointing aspect of crypto right now, I would really love to see more regulations for this specific reason. Im pro-freedom but con-crime, not sure where the line can be drawn.

Imagine a country where criminals are not scared to commit crime, it simply wont work in the long run. This is crypto right now, we have to try get stronger in this area.

Anyway, just happy to vent abit... just a sad watch really but hope it gets better.

It’s going to be fun if crypto will become that big, so another country invades NK to get the funds back from hackers

lets hope im wrong and it will be done, imo highly suspicious towards inside job.

sorry mixed Euler hacker with ZKasino scam, where he was in Netherlands, Euler was Argentinian, and yeah they managed to get him but I think he also chose to send back if I recall correctly. I mean, some can be done, but in ideal world, there should be no questions, once the unit tracks the funds and its located the approval to move in should be there without the bureaucracy. But yeah, easier said than done.

Yay! I would love to take a look. I'm curious about how it actually works. Account abstraction is awesome. The only concern is the custodial nature of this cross-chain system.

why not use Rabby's Gas Account feature? You put stables in the Gas Account and you can use that Gas Account to pay for gas using stables across any nework

Are there decentralized-ish projects that are using a marketing/growth agency contributor that pitches for DAO funds and reports on results periodically in the governance forums in an impressive way? Looking for a few examples.

1. Can formal verification solve hacks? If not, what stops it?
2. Is formal verification affordable for projects? Is there a historical trend to lower the cost?
3. Do projects practice formal verification by default now or it’s still a thing for tier-A projects?

i mean its easy to have this view when ur not in the crossfire, i used to see it same way in the past but after being a victim and losing a substantial amount from hack i see things diffrently now.

Im sure you wouldn’t say hacks serves a purpose if you lost a substantial portion of your net-worth to a hacker.

But you bring up many good points, and I’m not saying ur stance is wrong just very biased from a non victim standpoint imo. RDNT was audited and still hacked, shady actors will always exist but atm crypto framework in this direction is still surprisingly weak but its getting better i guess.

Facts and it takes a lot of money to get there

Also have to be able to withstand longer release cycles to be successful

Disagree. Hacks ironically serve a purpose

Improve security/encourage audits. I don’t believe the industry is mature enough to be considered vulnerable and regulations will not bring anything positive

Even in the most regulated markets you have had Ponzis/hacks/scams.

Heck Madoff was the chairman of Nasdaq at one point. Regularly large companies cook their books with no disregard or protection to the investor despite meeting regulations

The whole ethos of crypto was originally to avoid regulations and government over-reach and in the case of Defi actually build the future of finance

I believe eventually the market leaders will be very rarely hacked regardless of +\- regulations

but im very sure many of the ongoing hacks we seen, even this one with RDNT they will know who the hackers are but have a very hard time to arrest them.

yeah, this was good. But in this case he was in Netherlands as ive understood which makes it a bit easier.

I think in many cases they know who the hackers are, but have a very hard time to get the approval to move in. Mainly in Asia, where most hackers are. I guess there is a long time to go but hope they can get more traction in this route and strengthen the collaborations much more within the upcoming 2-3 years. Seeing all hacks/exploits constantly and in many cases where the hackers are even known and still walking is really frustrating.
