PSA for those who are kingdom members (nft holders) to check the kingdom message. If you are not, ignore. Don’t ask what it is, not relevant for you then.
Honestly, if the wallets wanted to adopt this sort of standard, the entire experience could still be in-browser (assuming your wallet is a browser extension). I'm no browser extension dev, so unsure how simple this would be, but all you're doing is fetching BASE64 and serving it to the user as JS+CSS, which isn't hard. No different than fetching the same content from a website, just a different path you follow to fetch it (blockchain vs. servers)
Browsers are just as dangerous to any other app, onus for security is just passed along to Chrome or whomever instead of a tiny app dev studio building a wallet
I wanted to add I could be just *under the impression* I m safer with the browser in between, which indeed might be wrong. But at least I know I m not giving some crazy permissions such as Read Clipboard when I use dApps in browser.
Читать полностью…Interesting idea wallet could help select canonical seeds, but still having apps on the CPU would increase attack surface by a lot. I feel safer with my browser between the app and my PC
Читать полностью…Could always just convert the minified JS + CSS to Base64, emit it as an event from the contract, and fetch it from an archive node whenever you need app access 🤷♂️
Читать полностью…i think that downloadable clients is the best way forward i mean you can do that now . I am dev i have been talking about this for a while because you can still interact with the blockchain the front end is the problem but remember when we had limewire and , bit torrent we . Echanges could just link there github if you want a more decnetilized expercience

Yeah I mean I like the way it works as it is (I do appreciate having Chrome pushing security updates and being a firewall between me and the crypto apps). Just saying if this was to become impractical or illegal, exploring BitTorrent would be a possible solution, and sorting “bad” seeds from “good” seeds could be helped by Rabby and all. It seems like a reasonable solution to a major problem with torrent
Читать полностью…Was also freaked out by the Mac zero day on M2 and M1 earlier this year, which could be exploited by system app but not by browser apps afaik
Читать полностью…Most dApps are already client-side JS. It's all executing primarily on your local machine in the first place
Your computer fetches the JS + CSS from Vercel or whatever AWS wrapper your favorite devs are using, then executes it, maybe makes a few calls to a RESTful backend if they aren't forcing you to perform local indexing through Infura. If frontends are the only thing covered by this reg, then quite possible devs could still roll their own indexers, even with a decentralized frontend
The oldest and best alternative to torrents figured out that separating indexers from downloaders and hosts was a good idea a long time ago. Could be interesting if crypto goes down a similar trajectory
no i think if you you have a verified githib and you have ways to check the software . to see if it orginal i mean there is tradeoff in smart contracts that arnt aduited
