Same comes with contract events and transaction receipts though, geth started to prune receipts and transactions older than a year, so would be better to focus on archiving and preserve those data on low speed storages as well.

Blobs are not permanent, a crushing fate many rollups will learn in 2027 when their sequencer is discovered to have had a bug for years, and they find themselves having to rebuild the chain but no one has the data any more.

It's way easier for me to just put images up as URLs. The annoyance and cost of inscribing on Solana (or SSTORE2 on ETH) is only worth it for actual permanence. I do have the collection down to ~160kb with lots of compression tricks but that might still cost a fortune on ETH (is there a calculator for the cost / kb?)

It is permanent though, same comes with historic blocks or receipts which would be pruned from EIP-4444 enabled nodes. They are immutable as long as their static data is stored somewhere on S3 / object storage / torrent / etc.
