For my friends i would say that the main benefit is to be able to earn/receive salary in USD and also savings in USD or BTC/ETH if you wish.
And in the end that give us Freedom and the possibility of improving the life of family and friends.
So the realized benefit of crypto to the masses after 15 years is the ability for normies to spend USD

But they buy from places that are using USDT on the background

Last thing. Is that yes i want privacy, but simultaniously i do not wish to help hackers.
And i would rather put a little bit risk on my self privacy wise and push transaction 1k adressess further through some l2 for like 5$ in gas fees and if needed show who ever that im clean.

It's not dead - its just badly executed because we try to slap a token on anything that moves.
Here's the baseline requirement
1. Have a blockchain based verification system for image provenance and royalty
2. Have a provenance system for claims, statements and royalty sharing (for writers)
3. This is the hard part --- get integrated with a large enough media network.
Right now - everyone approaching this talks to me abotu zk this l2 that - but really just shut up on those fronts and think about distribution.
Sadly we aren't there yet.. there's def a market here (esp in age of GenAI content). It's not dead - its just struggling to attract mostly capital - and then talent. If there is good enough talent with more than a bunch of code (by which i mean BD chops) - you can get the former (capital)
Edit: this applies to practically 90% of places where the tech can be used but is not integrated because we are currently adding 47 layers to our blockchain lasagna instead of building businesses... but i'll skip that rant for now
But what adoption are we talking about, again, everything we have in crypto now, NO ONE EVER NEEDS except those who makes money on it e.g airdrop farmers and so on. Most of the people will never do real defi with loans borrows, etc. Most of the people can’t even do a simple deposit in their bank. There is no way you can explain a office normie why he needs all of these. But with casino, it’s much easier, just deposit and play and have fun

I highly doubt that we have more than 10m active users that use self-custodial wallets.
The majority of people have crypto with:
- ETFs
- CEX balances (they never withdraw from Binance and ...)
those are referred to in the literary community as "hacks"

idk ser, there's plenty of good journalists out there that are capable of delivering great stories in a concise and candid manner. the issue today is that all major media outlets have a heavy ideological lean and are privately funded by people who meddle in editorial process.
if one of the platforms sets up incentives for independent editorial directly funded by users we might enter a new era of truly independent journalism.
