most devs are careless (regardless the industry).
that's why it's always good practice to put some guardrails up.
devs with unaudited / full access always find a way to screw up.
For signing, pretty much everyone uses Ledger's / airgaps though, so that covers new code deployment, which is the most important thing. We don't really have good infra yet for managing frontends on-chain the same way we do contracts, which sucks, but we'll get there over time
Also I would expect locked-down workstations to be mostly used to secure confidential information, rather than protect from code deployment being compromised (you would use multiple hardware keys for that, just like crypto does)
Actually yes lol. But not a good example since Silvergate’s problem was that it dealt with crypto
Читать полностью…Were Silvergate depositors made fully whole? I remember talk about how they could only claim up to FDIC insurance (250k iirc)
That was also 2 years ago
I think there is more of a narrative problem than an actual problem tho. I think every builder in DeFi at least would agree that while "building in DeFi sux cuz of how difficult to build and monetize is" , it also quite magical in terms of the things that you can do in a permission decentralized way
Читать полностью…Or the fact that people harp about L1s value accrual issue due to L2s.
Читать полностью…Also the SLA verification is decentralized as well where we have checker nodes that validate the network performance.
Читать полностью…I am asking from clusters that are live on your network now? If I wanted to train a model, what’s the best infra I can find on your network?
Читать полностью…What’s the highest possible cluster on your network?
Читать полностью…We have a mechanism that checks it regularly. There are multiple criteria's like Uptime period,
Читать полностью…ATH staking is required to ensure providers fullfill SLAs so incase of poor service quality a part of collateral can be slashed.
Читать полностью…what's the minimum requirement to join your network?
Читать полностью…so if I understand correctly the only crypto and blockchain related here thing here is the DAO Governance.
What is the business case for running your training through this platform rather than AWS?
(Most hacks are due to devs being super careless, but that's the issue of individual devs, not the industry per-se)
Читать полностью…What? Tradfi doesn’t lose billions because a CDN got poisoned?
Читать полностью…if you ever worked in tradfi securing billions / trillions in annual transaction volume, I can assure you that security is a lot better than on the majority of the crypto projects.
how many crypto projects have fully locked-down developper workstations?
none?
It's been quite a long time since I have had a problem due to lack of tech or infrastructure to build, it's more of "how can I build that magic within those constraints" which is a challenging but very rewarding experience when you solve it (non monetary rewards)
Читать полностью…Cryptos problems are deeper than just decentralization tech. It's a problem on the application layer itself.

Читать полностью…Will have to check that. If you are interested in training AI models on our network I can connect you with our BD team they would be able to answer everything in much more detail.
Читать полностью…Also do you manually get to pick which service provider you want to train your model on?
Читать полностью…Not entirely sure, but I know the founder has quite a lot of videos working with the network posted on X. Also they do have a Gitlab as well where you can see more. I'll share the link to you in DM.
Читать полностью…Just need to have a GPU that you can lend + some ATH to stake.
Stake amount would depend upon your GPU specs.
Yeah and that compute transaction happen on-chain as payments are in ATH so there is full transperancy around the business.
Currently the biggest reason to train AI models on our platform vs AWS is the cost, we are 25-30% cheaper than AWS.
Yes here's the dashboard
https://dashboard.aethir.com/protocol/overview
Commision is 20%.
We don't claim decentralized training. What we claim is that the network is decentralized where anyone can join the network with their cluster of GPUs and the network is governed by a DAO. DAO to be launched later this year.
