But to be completely clear, it may not be Rust that is the problem, but Solyami architecture.
Читать полностью…Yes.
Besides referring to very early days.
This is Solana fault not due to Rust.
Rust is way more popular than Solidity and can be used regardless of blockchain.
Hence a much better choice in my opinion.
For example I won’t waste time on Sui/Aptos since I don’t want to learn a language which is used only in them.
How is a general purpose language with MUCH more examples and code written in it harder?
You’re mixing up how much blockchain specific content exists for a language vs. content in general.
Also since Solidty is blockchain specific it has very odd constructs.
I'm not sure that Virgil is/was a hero, but the trip to NK was not pitched as a way to help NK get around sanctions and such (at least originally - I was invited and it was not pitched like this at all).
Chris Emms, a British citizen, is still on the FBI Most Wanted list related to the same trip, fyi. (cursory look shows he's pretty comfortably in Russia now apparently)
but didnt realize its also staffed by absolute dimwits

Читать полностью…I think this meme is bandied about, but it's not because the banks want to block your transfers, people expect the banks to protect them (and their grandparents) from fraud. I've seen so much of this, financially illiterate people doing dumb transfers because someone called them to help them move their money because a pigeon got into their bank account.
Читать полностью…Fair point, but proportion of capital held in the first world is far greater than those in less developed economies. Philosophically I agree, but imperically DeFi is many magnitudes more risky than a trad account and has no state backed deposit protection.
Everyone hates the state until it protects their pension pot.
Only a fairly small percentage of world population has access to a decent bank though. Pretty much US and that's it
Читать полностью…I'm not sure what we're arguing about here, I never said there's shouldn't be good in-org security practices in crypto
What I said is that I would rather trust Aave (or Gearbox, but I'm biased here) with my grandma's money, than a rando bank, and I stand by that
Im not blaming Rust, what Im saying it could be an issue for entery level devs diving in sol. Appreciate the detailed answer btw, I'm sure, many who would like to- will jump into the Rust exploration (thanks God I don't have to).
Читать полностью…probably sir, I take it. I just remember we was sorting out stuff with candy machine (and metaplex) n contracts deployment on sol and my dev was't too happy about how things are work (he was mad).
But Im not the dev, and it's been ages ago, what I know is Sol currently mvp in terms highlighted above, after Eth ofc (and other evm chains)
did you tried to write and deploy contracts on sol btw?
Rust is great, but for entery level devs diving in sol - could be really problematic & learning curve can feel steep—especially compared to solidity (at least how my dev observed deving solyami contracts on rust bak in the days)
That said, the landscape has likely changed significantly since then, with improved docs, repositories, and community support.
I think the OG poster means that currently the "crypto" is nothing but a Plato's cave.

Читать полностью…This is an example of enshittifying UX over safety, which is exactly what I don't want to happen to DeFi. To deal with individual bad actors, you make the experience worse for everyone (the state generally likes to do this in many spheres)
Читать полностью…Maybe it's just a mentality difference between slavs and westerners - we don't have any expectations regarding government protecting our pension pots, therefore we all hate it by default
Читать полностью…Europe routinely blocks your account on a transfer above 1k
Читать полностью…rando bank I agree. but if you pick something like aave, you should compare that to a decent bank.
and if you have only $100k or less, a bank is a lot safer than aave.
aave users on harmony got rekt completly ... everything gone. this won't happen with any bank that has the money insured (up to a certain limit).
for the bridge hack and the aave loses, no insurance paid a cent
Hello, I am a student at the École 42 in Malaga, Spain. I’m the Blockchain ambassador for my campus and was wondering if anyone is based here or near the area as I would love for them to come to the campus and have a brief talk with the students explaining what you do and hopefully get more people interested in working in the industry. My resources are limited but I’m at your disposal to discuss any additional details in DMs 😃
