i dont really see the comparrison here. creating a solution for mev on an app chain yet alone a single marketplace is not that exciting for me. Creating a scallable mev solution on ethereum which is 100 times bigger market with a lot of conflicting interests of market and infrastructure participants is a whole different story
Читать полностью…You can have gas war reduction with encrypted mempool with guaranteed backrunning slots, and at the same time make frontrunning and sandwiching impossible. You do not need to have current Flashbots-style system to get rid of gas wars.
Читать полностью…Also Traditional sandwich attacks are also very possible on Base or L2s in general if its a cross chain swap. Here's an interesting research paper that goes in the crux of it , https://arxiv.org/html/2405.00138v1
Читать полностью…This problem is insignificant compared to frontrunning, because fees going up cannot harm users.
Читать полностью…There’s still value‑extraction pressure inside Base, because Base’s sequencer sorts by gas + tip, Tg bots (BananaGun, Maestro.) spam emergency bids to jump the queue. That’s why Base’s revert rate spiked to 15‑30 % last year in April and why those bots paid up to 43× normal fees at the peak.
It isn't a textbook sandwich, but users still eat higher slippage and failed trades just via fee wars rather than mempool re‑ordering.
Also trusting Coinbase is a social promise which could break anytime in future it isn't a cryptographic guarantee.
What’s a good group to get an overview on the state of Polkadot?
Читать полностью…I think Shutter already applied OP grant in the past for this
Читать полностью…You need commit and reveal style mempool like Shutter, so it is technically feasible
Читать полностью…Cant wait till someone makes a transpiler from javascript, then the real ugly comes out
Читать полностью…"smart contracts written in Rust are actually quite ugly," 😂
Читать полностью…My understanding: the execution will run on rust style VM, but code and UX will stay the same
Читать полностью…Not defending pumpfun ever, just an interesting comparison between financialization of a movement (brand) va a singular piece. Forget it.
Читать полностью…That's just kinda the speed of light unfortunately unless you're in the same region as the sequencer. But even 500ms is very good for a lot of the games I listed above :)
And I agree this is still an issue for the rest, but it's not the hardest thing to solve
Even better, you can internalise arbitrage on some better blockchain than EVM, and have backrun arbitrage profits go to the protocol like Osmosis is doing https://forum.osmosis.zone/t/osmosis-protorev-by-skip-protocol/604
Читать полностью…Maybe a savvy user will be happy but an avg user only cares about the additional costs not the source of it
Читать полностью…I am happy to pay 40x fee to know I am not being frontrun
Читать полностью…more specifically 90 % of validators are using mev boost which actually creates a competing market for mev as oppose to captured by a single entity. 2nd it has made fees on ethereum much better since mev is removed from the mempool and reduces the gas wars and also reduces quite a lot the failed transactions which is a substantial ux improvement
Читать полностью…Feel like all these L2s and L3s, and risc5 discussions, eth is just converging towards polkadot’s design.
Читать полностью…The cons are that you need to like Hitman hair style
Читать полностью…Also Coinbase seems to be encouraging safe and user friendly blockchains, enabling harmful MEV would be against their ethos and best interest
Читать полностью…What I like about the blog post is a lot of ppl are actually quite opposed to it. Shows the strength of the network.
Читать полностью…Which is sooo smart.
It gets back to last week debate about Solana dev UX which is beyond ground level.
As someone who's completely uninformed about the mechanics of it, Is it changing horses mid stream or fresh legs?
I thought think fresh legs, EVM is a tired horsey.
WTF does that even mean?
Pumpfun isn’t long post authorship.
It’s long on people degeneracy to run an online casino
Thanks Adrian, that's exactly it!
It's actually pretty good devex already w/ a lot of room to improve still.
It makes stuff like UGC/mod enablement a standardized default instead of a tedious feature. (You still have to care a little bit to make it good - but it's much simpler.)
